He's saying, ask city for a familiarisation loan at the Blades, look what we did for Hendo and MGW..🐟🐟🐟

If anything we have shown Berge the way to play. He has never been a CDM or playmaker. As an attacking midfielder he is unreal

Anybody looking at his best highlights on various videoclips could see that he isn't a holding midfielder.

But unfortunately he got shoehorned into that position "because he's a big lad" a bit like I got shoehorned onto the right wing because I was a small and quick lad, despite being left footed and not being a winger.

It's a Sheffield trait when it comes to football, a big lad means no skill, so you either put them at the back, or put them up front and hoof it.

No Sanders saying to him, can I play for Wednesday, cause I have heard there massive and all Man city fans...

“Wait til you find out what a Bama is in England, ha ha ha…”

I thought we had a chance of keeping him for another season. He would’ve been a huge part of our team. Got to be ignoring anything below 30m I think, get some profit.

Best offer we will get is if we get the £22m back we paid

It sounds like he would like to move up to a top tier level.

Thing is even if he wants out we will want to get a fee we are happy with.
Let's just see but based on the comments in the last 24hrs would be surprised if he's still here next season.

The crucial part will be should we receive say £22m or whatever how much will be allowed back into the transfer kitty.
Do that but wisely and replace with player or players that can improve the squad generally of course and losing him is not the be all and end all.

I've seen it happen too many times, selling the best players, and end up in the third and fourth division, doesn't Berg have a contract, these players should honour the contact, he's on a fantastic wage, if he stays, we have a better chance of promotion, the boards at Sheffield United are so spineless, they never look at the bigger picture, the fans are being cheated once again.

Won't get half that unfortunately

Doesn’t appear as if we will sell him without getting our money back. Wages aren’t an issue as Bettis suggested so it’s getting the right cash in. I don’t see anyone paying £20m plus for him from the championship & if they do then we wish him well.

I just hope at least half of it is reinvested in the starting 11

Sell on clause is £35 million

If the club get an offer they are happy with they'll sell him.

And if he wants to move the first time somebody offers us a measly £10 million, he gets told he's not going.

Contrary to popular brainwashing that United's previous owner used to like to spread amongst the fan base, he won't sulk, he'll do his job and make himself more interesting to another buyer.

What's his alternative ?
Sulk? not play? not try? play crap when he does play ?. And let the whole world forget about him?

Career suicide

As nice as that image may be, if he wants to leave he'll leave. That's how it works now. Especially outside the top division.

£12m ish with add ons etc. Be interested to see what Genk get from any sale or if it's % profit.

If Djed Spence is gonna go for £20mil as a full back with his dodgy off field history Berge will comfortably attract offers of that and more

Spence is English. There's a premium. Also, I don't think they'll get near that amount.

It's not about player ability, it's about leverage. If Berge says he wants to go we lose any we had

If someone wants to double my wages, then thanks very much, it’s been great, but I’m off. And so would everyone else.

He’s an employee. Whether it’s for us or someone else, it’s a business relationship between the player and the clubs that want him on their books. Only in very rare cases is loyalty/history/sentiment worth anything. Billy Sharp?

And from United’s perspective: Make your money back or even a profit to improve 3 or 4 other positions? Again, it’s a business decision made with the knowledge you have at the time and your best guess as to what the future might hold. Sometimes you say stick. Sometimes you say twist. You’ll never know if it was the right decision.

I am a real Berge enthusiast. I think he’s a great player and a real asset to the team (and the handsomest man alive),who’s had terrible luck (COVID and injuries) but if, I don’t know, RB Leipzig want to double his wages and have him play in the top 4 of the Bundesliga, how can he be criticised? Top 4 of the German league or Wigan away? I know what I’d choose.

Except footballers are under contract unlike most employees that can do what they like

Exactly this commanding a fee of 20 million, and signing until 2024 is totally different to Joe bloggs at Tesco's Contract, there's a reason why unhappy players can't just hand their notice in 😂

Carlt I usually agree with the vast majority of your posts but if you think we'll sell him for £12m then you're living in cloud cuckoo land.

McCabe probably would have but no chance PA does!

Ramsdale?

I think there'll come a point where we know we have to sell him because he wants to go. I'm talking £12m up front with add ons to get it up to £18m ish too.

I just don't see what our leverage to ask for more is if he flat out says he wants out. I'm not saying he isn't worth more, just that our negotiating position is poor

We'd probably accept £18m with add ons taking it to £22m but there's no way we'd take £12m.

Look what we held out for with Ramsdale.

I've got plenty of issues with The Prince but selling players on the cheap isn't one of them.

Ramsdale is English and hasn't had injury issues.

If he's happy to stay, fine I 100% agree with you. I'm not trying to criticise the club But if he agitates for a move I think the fee will be much less than hoped for
