Wow what ? Do you have amnesia ?

I said that to another poster go back and look ,you took exception to it and I reiterated my point

If you agree with knowsnowt then you can toddle of to the bet 365 or whatever it's called with him

Totally agree but this has been in the offing for a while. The bouncing goal really put Wilders nose out of joint in my opinion.

He has never given Duffy credit for it, in interviews he’s belittled it as to why we think Duffy is a hero when Clarke scored two. I know Coutts got injured not long after but wilder moved away from Duffy quite quickly and for the rest of the season. Season after he started lundstram and Evans before having to go back to Duffy.

He makes our formation work and I know I will get pelters for this post but I am gutted for the lad.

He got to this level, late in his career, is 33 without much career earning and a young family. The way he has been bombed out for asking for extra money and a year for me is shit

A wonderfully gifted footballer has (temporarily) transferred to another football club where he'll (continue to) earn (relatively) good money. He's not lost the opportunity / capacity to continue playing football - likely for another 2 or 3 years ? Taking him to 37 which leaves another 30 years of working life- if he wants (needs?) to ensure his "young family" are cared / catered for
What did folk do when the pits / steelworks/ shipyards ( or even Woolworths) shut - find another job / trade / profession or bemoan the fact that they used to work on the pick n mix ?

Gutted he's left :( This looks like a crap deal for us and Duffy. Felt like he could have been a game changer for us this season.

So you dont know all the facts, yet you're straight on the blokes back thats got us where we are! Outstanding bit of bias pal. Try not to cry too much into your Mark Duffy pillow.
He didnt waste anytime ranting in public about Duffy did he. Has Duffy responded similarly in public? Ah. That's a no isnt it.
Ill draw my own opinion on that.

I think Chris Wilder has achieved more for the club than any single player because he built a team out of single players and guided them to the Premier League - if anyone doubts that, they should think back to the fucking dreadful days prior to him being appointed.
I’m very sad to see Mark Duffy go, but if he HAD signed a new contract (no, me neither), then it wasn’t the brightest approach to ask for an improved one. That said, none of us knows the full details so some of the spiteful comments are well out of order.
What’s done is done, right or wrong, but we’ve got a Premier League season to look forward to.

I'm actually quite relieved that the only two people to slag the manager off so far have been a guy who called possibly our greatest ever manager a dick and a guy who couldn't remember if it was him that said it

"Slagged him off". That quickly escalated didnt it! :D
Are we not allowed to question the one who's mantra is "no one man is bigger than this club"?

It's a sad end to Duffy's time at BDTBL and his (pivotal) part in CW's revolution. I've no idea what went on behind the scenes... that said we all knew Duffy's time with us would come to an end at some point. Just not like this. Personally I wish he was still with us to contribute however and whenever CW thought best.

He's now back in the Championship on the same contract and same money.... but having lost out on (probably) his only chance to be meaningfully involved in the Premiership. Feels really unsatisfactory.... but ultimately CW is the guy who bears all responsibility for footballing matters at the club..... and, personally, given his track record I'd hesitate to call his judgement into question on this matter.... especially as he will have acted in response to a situation and circumstances that were real to him but which we can only speculate about.....

Thank you Mark Duffy and good luck.... that said Sheffield United move on.

Ranting? You mean answering a question regarding a players future on a radio show? A rant....really ?Meanwhile said player and wife make snide insinuations about his inclusion in the starting 11 on twatter over the last 18 months and thats ok ? He goes in and wants a revised contract after he"s just had one??? Then posts his training stats on social media, effectively advertising himself?
Join the dots pal, its easy to see why Wilders got pissed off with him.

Ah. I forgot he was contracted to answer any question asked. My mistake.

A question a lot of Blades wanted answering. Some of us can accept that answer, and can understand why. For the record, im as sad as anyone to see him go.

knowsnowt didn’t call Wilder a dick, he said it was “a dick move”. I would say it could have been written better, but let’s not take things out of context!
"Dick move"
Some call it cutting off your nose to spite your face. Weve all done it.
Not backing down when you're wrong ro save face, because you think so highly of yourself. I've made that mistake too.

Time will tell. Wilder certainly has one hell of a biography to write. :)

Goodby MD my favourite player. We did brilliant shots together at player of the year. You were players player of the year but so pissed and upset that the award was redirected to someone else. Despite a suspicion of never being fully backed you put in some memorable performances often coming on the second half to turn it around. I would have loved to see you play in the prem. So sorry that you are leaving and we are worse for it. Good luck at Stoke and make your point on the pitch as I'm sure you will.

Wilder has his principles, lots of them, and absolutely, steadfastly 100% sticks by them no matter what. I really admire him for that, takes real guts and he has it in spades! Unfortunately one of our favourite players, for whatever reason, crossed the line. The reason is incidental, it doesn’t matter; what matters is Duffy, sadly, crossed that line and in Wilders world you just don’t do it. The trust and respect are gone.
I don’t agree with this outcome but I totally respect Wilder for sticking by his principles and let’s face it, from Alfreton Town to Sheffield United, it’s taken him a long way!

And yes a biography would be pretty juicy! I’m sure Danny04 is on the case?!

I've been so busy I've managed to miss it. What did Wilder actually say that was a dig at Duffy?

Wilder's always said he has his valuation of players and he won't exceed them. Sometimes when it comes to business you can't come to a compromise and it's not a sign of bad management if that happens.

Can't say I'm not disappointed. Seeing Duffy have a go at the Prem would've been part of the fairy tale but there's plenty of competition for attacking midfield and if Wilder's done what he thinks is best for the team then I'm alright with it.

I dunno. Seem we arent allowed to question Wilder at any point. Unless it's about carruthers etc..than it's fine. Some.people had the audacity to question their signing. How very dare they!. And they were proved wrong. Weren't tthey?
Duffy probably contributed to his own downfall but it's no way to reward a loyal servant imo.
I've had to make business decisions before, regarding top employees who've tried it on and overvalued themselves, theres a couple of ways to resolve it. I'd rather point out why they're valued but being a bit silly, give them a while to think about it

"Toddle off"?
So if we dont hold wildern in God ike regard we should leave or at least keep our opinion to ourselves? That doesnt sound like an healthy situation bro!

I almost wrote something along these lines earlier and yes I got the same impression watching interviews a week or so after the event at swills, it did come across a little that wilder seemed jealous of the adulation that swamped Duffy at that time and was at the least flippant with his remarks about that goal.

Also it’s very clear that Duffy is a strong character so a clash was always on the cards at some point, I just don’t know why he pays an agent to engineer a move down the leagues when he was guaranteed game time in the premier league...

We will miss Duffy, we might have got his last decent seasons out of him, but wouldn’t he be great to throw on for the last 20 to give them a runaround..

Disappointed in the agent giving him clearly shite advice, wish him luck though..

It’s really sad way for his time here to end. None of us know the true story so I for one won’t apportion blame but it is sad that he won’t get a proper send off from the fans.

Duff will always be welcome at the Lane.

Anyone who has studied the potted history of Duffy's career here will not be surprised it's ended in this way.

From Mrs Duffy's tweeting about Wilder's selection policy, to his pulling him after 60 minsin most games, to him buying a dozen players to attempt to oust him...

One assumes its been an uneasy relationship over the years...

How many of us had heard of Mark Duffy before CW signed him (on a free)? His career up to that time had been nothing special. Whatever the relationship between the two, Duffy's time with the Blades has been the most productive of his career, so Wilder got the best out of him.
If he had not scored that special goal at Hillsborough, would fans be quite so upset about his departure? (Scoring against the Owls automatically brings with it 'Legend' status).

I liked Duffy, by the way, and would have preferred him to stay, but I'm just trying to insert a little balance into this thread.

Reet metalblade. I'm incensed Duffy has gone. I think wilder has made a mistake, a big one. Hence the "dick" comment. It's my personal opinion. I have no problem with anyone disagreeing with it but please leave out the insults old chap.
Apologies for the personal comments but you're reply wound me up big time. I've no problem debating anything I post if approached in a mellow way.
A candidate for the first calls for Willder's head if we lose the first game?

I thought he was given time to think about it, I'm sure Wilder said he gave him the weekend off to think about it and get back to him on Monday?

Given that Duffy feels he's worth an improved contract, wouldn't a better way of going about it be to prove you are in the Prem?

His last contract would've given him an extension, pay rise a bonus for promotion and on top of that there was another future bonus of having a wage increase again if promoted, Duffy obviously liked the contract terms as he signed it.

That wage increase upon promotion was given without any idea of how Duffy might perform in the prem. Given this unknown quantity surely a better way would have been to show you can perform then either the club approaches you or you can approach the club but in a better position to negotiate?

Not saying Wilders perfect, just there are better ways to try to get an improved contract.
