Agreed - will Sharp make the bench if we sign another striker? Wilder has always seemed quite reluctant to put him on when he's been sub so I could see him missing out completely.

As mentioned, he will make at least the bench as our only senior "Club Developed" player and we have to name at least one Bladey-Blade.
Those are the new rules, whether Pinchy likes it or not.

......................Henderson
.............Egan - Bryan - O'Connell
Freeman...............................Norrington-Davies
.................Fleck..........Evans
......................Woodburn
..............Clarke........McGoldrick

Im really excited to see Woodburn but if he isn't playing up top you can't drop Duffy for him straight away.

For me (Warnock mode), you have to start with Billy. Let him work the defenders, drag them around and give them a game. Let EM or BW come on for him on the hour when there's a bit more space.

I've no idea at the back and the only nailed on is Egan.

I'm stll slightly concerned that JOC might be off to Brighton fund Waghorn - genuinely sorry to piss on everyone's chips in such a good week.

Can't for the life of me figure out who 'EM' is... any clues?

Can't Leon Clarke do all those things better than Billy though? I know who I'd rather be marking if I was a centre back playing against United.

I think Clarke's the all-rounder who can do a bit of everything and alongside him will either be a more creative type (McGoldrick / Woodburn), a pacey striker (not currently at the club) or the main man superstar striker (not currently at the club either).

Subs: Moore, Stearman, Freeman, Leonard, Lundstram, Woodburn, Sharp

That's what I'd go with. But I think Wilder will go with Lundstram instead of Duffy, like against Inter. Having McGoldrick up front more allows for that midfield setup because he'll often drop deeper into the Duffy area to link the play.

I would go with pretty much that with a few changes:

- --------------------- Moore

- - - - - - -Basham - - Egan - - O'Connell

Baldock - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Stevens

- - - - - - - - - - Evans - - - - - - - Fleck

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Duffy

- - - - - - - - -McGoldrick - - - - -Sharp

Moore and Sharp have impressed more than their competition in pre-season for me. Would like to see positive attacking changes on around 70 and 80 mins - no matter what the score - no mercy this year!!!

Freeman for Baldock (70)
Woodbines for Duffy (70)
Clarke for Sharp/Goldilocks (80)

Does sharp count as the home grown player? Who else in the squad do we have?

I'd forgotten about that. It will show how these rules don't always work how they're intended to if we end up having to put a 32 year old on the bench to satisfy a rule designed to give young players more opportunities.

And would you put them on the bench infront of Sharp? Moore would be pissed to not even get on the bench and isn’t ND going on loan, especially considering today’s signing? Anyone else?

No I wouldn’t I’d have Billy

Swansea's strength has always been in midfield with their ability to look after the ball, I'd look to line up with only one out and out striker and have Woodburn playing the Brooks role as a second striker to counteract that so we don't get overrun

----------------Henderson
Baldock - Basham - Egan - JO'C - RND (I suspect it'll be Stevens)
-------------Evans - Fleck
----------------Duffy

As long as I don't have to pay you royalties I'm also referring to him as Woodbines all season now too. Cheers.

He's gash

Stop it!

'Gash' is better than 'shite', but in this bouyant optimistic week of decent signings, can you at least pretend you like our players?

You could even try to pretend you like all your fellow Blade fans.....

....No, on second thoughts don't bother with the last bit.

I like several of our players! I even love a couple..

Moore only played for half a game didn't he? I thought he was injured for the rest of it

He's improved a lot actually. I'm glad he listened.
I think it was SteveBlade that described him as the best shit player we've had for a long time. I like him, if we want to get promoted I think we need better but he's versatile and gives his all. It's a toss up for me between him and Stearman.

Sharp has been better in preseason for me than Clarke, and McG can do some of Leon's hold up stuff too I imagine.

I agree otherwise though.

Which one of Sharp & McG is going to do the insane amount of graft that Leon does?

That's what Leon brings even when he's not scoring, don't disagree. Said all last season we were better with Leon because he just holds it up and is always running.

It's a big decision. I was just going on who's scoring.

Sharp has looked good when he's come on. He starts for me.
