That's what I'd go with. But I think Wilder will go with Lundstram instead of Duffy, like against Inter. Having McGoldrick up front more allows for that midfield setup because he'll often drop deeper into the Duffy area to link the play.

Personally i want to start Duffy and replace him with Woodburn or Lunny depending on the score. We need to get back to having that link man between midfield and attack to get back to where this team performs better.

I thought the second half of the season we played 3 cm’s too much

That team in the opening post is the one I'd like to see start and the one I expect to see start on Sat.

This 100% otherwise we will be bogged down in midfield. Woodburn can start for me so long as we have a no 10 on the pitch at all times.

I would swap Freeman for Baldock and Sharp for McGoldrick.
Some excellent options on the bench either way

Think I'd do the same. Just because we could use Sharp's positional play and finishing. And I'd def prefer Freeman if fit.

Whatever the team is, we have a great squad and a great bench.

Can see some really adventurous changes even at HT if needed - CW has never been frightened of making early changes if needed.

Looking at that bench, who's going to miss out when we bring in another player or two?

And when Coutts is back?

There'll be no room for some very good, established players.

Insane squad depth considering where we were just 2 years ago.

Sharp has been better in preseason for me than Clarke, and McG can do some of Leon's hold up stuff too I imagine.

I agree otherwise though.

I think the nailed on starters are Henderson, Basham, O'Connell, Stevens, Fleck, Evans and Clarke. I'd expect Egan and McGoldrick to start.

Really not sure who he'll go with at RWB - I'd go for Freeman because I think he offers more in terms of goals and assists but Baldock is sort of in possession of the shirt and has done nothing to lose it.

That just leaves Lundstram v Duffy - if I had to guess, I'd say Lundstram.

I'd do neither. Do you envisage Sharp joining in the game if he doesn't score? I would certainly expect McG to do so. Then again, my only concern is that we field the team most likely to do well, free from extraneous matters that others regard as sacrosanct.

Agreed - will Sharp make the bench if we sign another striker? Wilder has always seemed quite reluctant to put him on when he's been sub so I could see him missing out completely.

Whereas I and many others on the board would rather see us just play a team of Blades fans and lose
Or maybe we just have different opinions about what our best team is

I'd like to see

-----------------------------Henderson---------------------------------
-------------Basham--------Egan---------O'Connell---------------
Baldock----------------------------------------------------Stevens--
---------------------- Evans-----------Fleck----------------------------
--------------------------------Duffy---------------------------------------
-------------------McGoldrick----------Sharp---------------------------

Subs: Moore, Bryan, Stearman, Freeman, Lundstram, Woodburn and Clarke.

I suspect, it'll be Clarke for Sharp though.

For me (Warnock mode), you have to start with Billy. Let him work the defenders, drag them around and give them a game. Let EM or BW come on for him on the hour when there's a bit more space.

I've no idea at the back and the only nailed on is Egan.

I'm stll slightly concerned that JOC might be off to Brighton fund Waghorn - genuinely sorry to piss on everyone's chips in such a good week.

Does sharp count as the home grown player? Who else in the squad do we have?

Are we sure O’Connell won’t be nursing a mysterious injury ?

That's too similar to the team that was running up against brick walls towards the end of last season. Woodburn has to start for me in Duffy's place and when the kid is knackered swap him for Duffy at the end.

Henderson
Basham Egan O’Connell
Baldock Evans Fleck Stevens
Woodburn
Clarke McGoldrick

Moore, Stearman, Freeman, Bryan, Lundstram, Duffy, Sharp

He does. Norrington-Davies or Eastwood otherwise?

And would you put them on the bench infront of Sharp? Moore would be pissed to not even get on the bench and isn’t ND going on loan, especially considering today’s signing? Anyone else?

Wouldn't surprise me if it's Egan for one of Stearman/Basham. Then just last years team.

It'd be a very Wilder move to challenge the players from last year to keep their places and the new players to be made to earn it
