So what do we go with bearing in mind we'll be playing on more of a potato field than a football pitch? I think this will be the most debated team selection for a while.
We'll have far more difficulty passing the ball so for me Hanson has to start to give us a geritforud option, as does Lavery so we've got someone to get on the end his flick ons and chase loose balls.
Oldham concede very few so we might need a clean sheet in order to win. So I'd go with the safe option and play Wright.
They also look like an experienced and physical team, so it might be worthwhile to go with as much physicality as we can. It will be a scrap.
I don't think they're much of a threat out wide and with Lafferty called up for international duty that's made my mind up that we should go 4-3-3 with 3 strikers.

Freeman EEL Wright O'Connell
- - - - - - - - - Basham - - - - - - - -
- - - - Coutts - - - - - - Fleck - - - -
- - - Sharp - Hanson - Lavery - -
Subs: Long, Wilson, Carruthers, Duffy, O'Shea, Chapman, Done
That could also become 4-4-2 when defending with Lavery moving to the left.
Could also see the logic in playing 4-4-2 diamond or sticking with 3-5-2 with O'Connell LWB, Basham LCB and O'Shea behind Hanson and Sharp. But I do feel Lavery should start. As for Duffy, with his recent injury in mind I'd probably save him for Millwall on Tuesday. Also feel the game could suit O'Shea.
I think Wilder might just leave it as it is and put Done in for Lafferty. I can see why he'd do that as it would mean minimal disruption, although I'd rather go with Hussey had he not been completely out of the picture.
