team line up for the play offs

Ensuring we get no injuries or illness, what line up would you put infront of whom ever lies in our way to greatness?
For me,the key would be to play Done and Davies upfront Together!!

Really want that central midfield to start, as I think that's where we have to be matching our opponents in terms of work rate, physique and strong running. If that trio can win the midfield battle the rest of the team should have enough quality to beat any other League One side on a good day. The above team has five or six tallish players, so set pieces shouldn't be a big weakness either. If Kennedy or McEveley will be out I would play Collins. If both are out, I'd use Bartman's defence.

I think he,s brought a bit of attacking savvy to the midfield.

Quite possibly Bergen.

Unfortunately ideal isn't something we have to play with. If Scougall had played a greater number of games I might reconsider, but Holt's form has suggested that he may have the knack of being the one player who can find the right space to exploit. As much as I loved Scoug's Wembley goal, I think Holt may offer greater options going forward. Whoever we play, I want us to cause them problems and not simply settle into a holding game.

More than happy to be proved wrong if it means we win.

As near as I can get to the system we played at Bristol with Doyle and Basham helping Davies to press from the front and Coutts sitting in a half back role and moving the play from side to side.

Encourage Freeman and Harris to bomb on and get Done and Murphy cutting in to try and get 4 or 5 men in the box when the crosses do come in. It was the best performance of the season and i'd love to see Nige try and replicate it for the playoffs.

Agree about Brayford, but without Done or Holt, I cant see where the goal would come from. Too much onus on Murphy and Davies. To me, it maybe a good away day squad as it could be strong enough and defensive enough to close out the game 0-0

If the reports about him are correct you have to have doubts about this and, indeed, him ever playing again so the more worrying aspect of all of these permutations is that practically everyone has Kennedy in their formation. If he isn't available then our CH options become even more restricted with consequential knock-ons throughout the team. Right now I would look on it as a bonus if he was able to play but its not something I would count on. Its a real shame for him and a major headache for us.

Yes, but I would be (pleasantly) surprised if he could keep his goal record up.

He's scored twice the last four games, which suggests he's doing great.

But in those four games,

We haven't won. As a team we've averaged a goal a game. Performances have varied from poor to ok.

If we are to win the Play Offs, the above won't be enough. We need to improve and aim for absolute maxiumum performances. Earning the right to play and winning the midfield battle is key and certain changes will be needed to get the balance just right. In my opinion there's a bit bigger chance of us achieving that if we include Scougall.
 
So nobody fancies starting with Jose then?

The line-up will of course depend on who we play and, in the away leg, what we need to do.

For me Scougall must start. He looked very sharp on Saturday and adds loads of work rate, pace and running. If he's back to full fitness he's a different class to Holt regardless of the recent goals.

Agreed. Didn't read this post before I posted.

Scougall ups the tempo in midfield, is far more mobile and more tenacious in the tackle. With full fitness he is a class player at this level.

I must admit, Scougall has looked great since he came back. Can he do it from the off, I don't know. If we need to win midfield, maybe Doyle needs to be in?
I hope with a week off, Murphy will look as energized as Scouggs has, we certainly need him flying down the wings. I do hope the Beard gets a week off too. He gives his all every game and has been nonstop since arriving.
With Holt, it is just hard to leave out a player that has been scoring more than anyone else.

Without having chance to check this yet, would we even be in the play offs without Holt's recent goals? I can't see how he can be left out and you can't play Holt and Scoogs together without having a serious lack of height in the centre of the park. Freeman has been one of our best players in recent weeks, so I would find a place for him.
 
Some things do baffle me sometimes and this is one of them. How can anyone be looking for faults from a player in Holt who has scored more than our entire midfield put together in our last 8 games, infact he's scored more than a third of our goals in this time. Not only does he score, he gets into some very good positions that never gets spotted or we're to slow to get the ball to him in these positions.

We have had a problem with scoring goals from midfield all season, we finally get a goalscorer and we still try and find faults, unbefuckinglievable.
