but I really think we need a little sense of perspective and realism here. I know today was shit, but take the season as a whole.
We came down after a season where we were thoroughly outclassed most weeks.
With an expensive squad but with few real assets.
With a wage bill that had to be brought down
And no money to spend other than loans
With a squad of players largely passed their best or failures
We appointed a big name manager and he tried to change the system but very few of the players were good enough and he didn't get the backing he wanted
We brought in a new management team, announced cut backs and spent no money
With nothing but the squad and the youth players, they've turned us into a side challenging for the play-offs. One with a huge fixture disadvantage on all our rivals. One with a huge injury list. One who had to get rid of players without being able to bring in replacements. One which has had to throw kids in who were previously on loan at non/lower league level.
I think we've done pretty well, all considering. If the season peters out, it peters out.
The most important thing for me is making sure we invest in the future of the club this summer. We need to bring fresh players in. We need to sort the training ground out. We need to consolidate at this level.
and at least there's no fucking VAR.
