Like I said before Chingo, this place is meant for absolutely anyone who wants to use it. Providing they treat the place and each other with respect.

There is no form of suggested clique and everyone will always be welcomed providing they treat the place and each other with respect.

That includes anything we may or may not do as a forum.

I really don't understand why we are percieved in some way as an enemy of Blades Mad by some Blades Mad members, simply because we post certain content for everybody to see.

We've even been compared to Wednesday tonight... I mean come on, we are all Blades, we all want the same and all we as a site intend to do is provide content and a platform for anyone and everyone who wants to use it.

I totally understand that by doing what I do, I'm completely open to critisism and I have absolutely no problem with being critisised, I'd just rather it wasn't made up and it wasn't simply abuse.

Going back to the original topic, if all the energy used in picking fights and making up nicknames/abusing people was channeled into making suggestions or talking sensibly to someone like a communications manager. Perhaps it might aid in achieving the things people would like to achieve? The proof will be in the pudding and there are no hiding places for those in public positions. How about we all give people a chance to have a pop at what they are there for before writing them off?

Yes, everybody is entitled to an opinion, and I agree that an entire forum shouldn't be slagged because of the actions of a few. I think you would probably find a concensus for that view on here too.

I hope you would agree that factions on both forums haven't covered themselves in glory tonight. As I said earlier, it works both ways. And as Foxy said earlier, we are all supposed to be Blades.

Members of this forum were disgusted by some of the retarded comments by a handful of posters on BM, and members of BM were upset by the way a handful of posters on here responded to it. It all came about because emotions around the club & the fanbase are running high just now. If we agree with that, shall we just move on?

Agree move on , not sure if some of the younger element will though , they have had a rough ride on here tonight and divisions between the two forums that have existed for a while have been widened I would have thought !


Any way my reply to the OP is that I do not agree with fan organisations ... they do nothing but split the fanbase IMO !

Look at Wendyite and on here and BM tonight !

I think the Wendy comment was an analogy of you (this site) can get some response from the club while the younger elements pleas seem to fall on deaf ears , or they are shoved out of the way into a corner and the club hopes they will go away ... ALA Wendy and SCC and United and the SCC.

How can you expect some of the younger element of our support to post on here after comments contained in this thread , they will think they are on a hiding before they have even posted !

All I would say is that instead of slagging us off for taking the opportunity we were offered in getting involved in these things, perhaps some there ought to be some introspection by those aggrieved at not being asked to get involved and the reasons as to why this might be.

I'd suggest that going on a public forum and calling someone "inbred" might not be the best way of making friends and influencing people.

We were set up to be different from Bladesmad and all the other sites around at the time and members use whichever site they prefer... even both if they can be bothered. Like Foxy says though, we don't understand the hostility and downright abuse we receive both as individuals and as a site when usually, anything we do gets C&Ped over there anyway.

You either think we're "inbred" "cliquey" "posh fuckers" or you think we're a different and useful site who's content is worth "borrowing". Either way, we're not likely to change any time soon.

Good evening S24SU-ers

I'd add two points to the above conversation:

1. BM is a haven for keyboard warriors and underage gobshites. Please bear that in mind when assessing the quality, sincerity or erudition thereon. I speak as someone with over 2000 posts to my name over there and to be honest some of the content has me reaching for the exhaust pipe. Please accept my word that there are plenty of intelligent subscribers on there but they are often so steamrollered by a torrent of bile and abuse from the kneejerkers counting the stripes on their tracky bottoms that they tend to give up and move on. We are all Blades, but after my own BM experiences I don't think all BM-ers are!

2. Having met Richard B on more than one occasion (including a BIFF meeting when Trevor Birch put in an appearance on his first day at the club) my opinion is that he is an honest and genuine guy who wants the best for the club, he really feels he can make a difference and therefore my over-riding view is, good luck to him. However, I managed only one BIFF meeting, at which I was pre-warned not to try to discuss the club in general, the team in particular, playing strategy, manager's performance or anything to do with the finances. On that basis I would say Richard has his work cut out convincing anyone that his role is anything other than an exercise in puppetry although I sincerely wish him well and hope he proves all the doubters wrong because the underlying concept is a laudable one.

My recommendations for Richard to gain some early Brownie points are: Lose Tom Hark, promote flags but get rid of the ludicrous fire certificate condition when others (including Wembley) don't impose it, lose the GCB lyrics on the screen(!!) and sort out the online ticket purchase fiasco because it's absolutely dreadful.

No one wants to make anything worse for any supporter of Sheffield United. The digs about "arse licking" and "in it for personal gain" are wide of the mark as far as Foxy and I are concerned. Our motivations are the same as our motivations for setting this place up... altruism. We don't expect any kind of thanks, but by the same measure, the abuse is a little harsh.

I am amazed by some of the comments made by fellow Blades on here about fellow Blades , if you go on Bladesmad and you chose to only read the chavvy posts I think it says a lot more about you than the "chavs" that have made up the threads !

There is a wide range of posters on Bladesmad of varying ages and some healthy debate ... should there be an age limit on posting on a public forum ... say 35 so you hoity toitys don't have to read what the future fans are saying ? , should there be an IQ test , where no one below the IQ of Pinchy can post ?

Swiss, I've always been positive about the Blades. Positivity is about recognising we should be doing things better, being annoyed about the mistakes and not wanting them to be made is positive. It probably shouldn't matter because it's only a bleedin' football club, but it does.
My positive belief has always been that United can be a much better club than they have been throughout a large part of my life. The potential was demonstrated for just one season only three years ago.
Being annoyed by mediocrity or negativity or complacency or crap decision-making is a positive thing.

However, this is a U turn from some of the stuff you were posting before Christmas (when Speed was still in charge), I agree that we could do things better, but when I suggested this in December you pretty much said whats the point in discussing it as we won't improve.

An opportunity for supporters to use their brains, come up with some ideas, is a no-brainer, as it were, to me.
Can't see what anyone has to lose. If someone on here comes up with a great idea even I don't think the club would ignore it if it was made known to them.
I'm at a bit of a loss as to why people are spending time pulling pieces out of each other when the club's been going down the shitter and here's an opportunity to engage brains and see if there's some decent workable ideas out there.

If we get a response from the club, we get it because we are passing on comments and issues given to us or requested a response ourselves. I've personally also passed on concerns I've read on Blades Mad, exactly as they appeared, not to step on any toes, but as I thought the people who can make a difference should see them and had no idea if they had. In terms of the age of posters, we also have a substancial younger element here and again, some of this is a shared membership with people using both sites.

Like I said, if anything has been posted alienating or being personal abuse towards others, then it will be dealt with. I want anyone and everyone to feel welcome on here, whatever their views, providing they can treat the place and each other with respect.

Quite a number of them, which is rising as the relevant safety boards and local authorities take a more "pro-active" approach to it.

It's all to do with the safety certificate to enable the club to even hold a football match. This is something that all clubs have to do and a number of rules are shared across the board. The complication comes where rules are also imposed based on the specific situation and can be dependant on the local authority, the design of the ground etc etc.

I personally think the flag certification stuff is ridiculous. But I understand where the ruling is coming from and why the club has to be seen to comply with the rules imposed upon them.

We would pass on comments, the same as anything else. We don't filter anything we receive in line with our personal viewpoints and everything gets passed on. It's not a matter of whether we "support" issues or not.

I'm personally loathe to attempt any kind of reconciliatory post on Blades Mad when I feel I have done nothing to receive the abuse (and my very own thread... fame at last!) If people want to talk to me, they can register on here or email me linz@ s24su.com I have nothing to hide with regards to my involvement in any kind of group and, like anything, I'm happy to answer any queries I can or at least have a shot at pointing people in the right direction. I apologise if this makes me some sort of hate figure but that's just the way I roll

I don't know you, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but why come here just to whinge and have pops about the so called posh forum. I believe a lot of the comments on here about BladesMad have been in response to the BladesMad posts.

If you have gripes with posters from both here and BladesMad, then report it to the relevant moderators, not just try to sling insults about.

Agreed Lenners, but like I said, its a U turn from the "Whats the point" stuff from before.

I always try to add positives even when I am being critical, I also like to look towards solutions and not just talk about the issues. I find if we spend too much time analysing the past and not looking where we can go forward that we then rarely go anywhere.

I'm in full agreement with your comments on here tonight so lets see what this guy can do for the club and the fans.

Blademad has representatives of its own at BIFF meetings who can act as conduits for their message board. That's not to say we don't occasionally see stuff on Bladesmad and pass that on too... but we have enough on our plate reading our own site without harvesting stuff off another site too.

If they want a voice as a forum, then it's something they have to sort out with the powers that be... whether that's Richard or BIFF, depending on what they want. It would be a little hypocritical to ask Foxy and myself to help with that one after the grief we've received

Chingo, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's been a single reference on here, from the "saintly" S2 posters, to Richard Batho's size. On BM, you can't move for such observations, which are completely irrelevant to his ability to do his job, as are references to how good his lad is at football.

I don't think there's any collusion on here that wouldn't allow sizeist references, but they just don't appear to have happened in this case. if that helps to makes S2 come across as "posh" in your view, so be it. Personally, I think it's a reasoned stance and a reasonable way to behave on a forum like this.

To be fair, we only have so many hours in the day to do our day jobs, look after this place and our other commitments and have a life. As I've said above, I have made sure the club is aware of opinions/suggestions on Blades Mad before.

Can we really be critisised for not spending a few hours a day asking people on Blades Mad if there is anything we can do to help them? It's not really our place to go on and do that? If people want us to do something/pass something on, we're more than willing to do that if requested to.

We have a club in turmoil seemingly on the pitch judging by results and in the boardroom judging by the lack of a visibly coherent short/medium/long term strategy.
It would be refreshing if the fans could buck that trend and set a positive example with a unified approach.

Doesn't help much with the cliquey allegations when an intelligent post such as this gets lost in the melee.

Not much to offer on the the BM discussion, but it's simply not for me. I think it's simply because I wouldn't be able to refrain getting into discussions with a couple of the racist, homophobic and childish posters over there.... one in particular who I will refrain from mentioning. I'll lurk, but while ever I can't respond, I don't lose hours of my life getting into futile arguments. There are some good posters there without a doubt, but it certainly is a more attractive to younger supporters... of which I'm not one these days.

I'm a regular on several different forums tbh.

I favour other forums to BM and S2 if I'm honest, the one in question just isn't that busy so I move around from forum to forum on a regular basis.

BM has some good debate let down by blatant WUM's often hijacking threads. This site has it's fair share of Armchair supporters and WUM material also. The only thing that gets me with most Forums (except this 1) is the Auto-Modding language thing. If it's an adult forum, Kids shouldn't be allowed to register, simple. If it's found out that the person has registered and is under-age, the account should be suspended until they are old enough. Most can be traced by their IP addresses.

I don't agree with permanent banning either. A weeks ban for a second offence, and for every offence after that, add an extra week. Permanent bans are daft.

I've met a fair few Blades from all forums and most I've found to be genuine people with 1 or 2 also being idiots also. But largely, the griping that goes on between forums is pure Keyboard Warrior stuff and is never taken to the Pre/Post-match socialising.

We have a club in turmoil seemingly on the pitch judging by results and in the boardroom judging by the lack of a visibly coherent short/medium/long term strategy.
It would be refreshing if the fans could buck that trend and set a positive example with a unified approach.
For the life of me,why forums with members all supporting the same team would even consider falling out is way beyond me.

Agreed, But then again some people like to come onto this Forum from other Forums and try to be clever and try to excuse their behaviour by chucking general abuse at members on here, when members on here, like myself have absolutely no interest in their petty little sqaubles elsewhere. I find it an absolute joke that people like Chingo could come here protesting about this Forum and that the youngsters aren't listened to and claiming that some BladesMad members are victims because of their age.

It wasn't just my idea, I ran these past a few I go to matches with, all thought were good. More than enough to warrant some feedback.

So Zinedine, I read the discussion yesterday with intrigue, you clearly have issues with BIFF, but when you have been asked several times to share your comments for improvement here, you've spat the dummy and sulked in the corner. If thats the way that you go about things, is it any surprise that your ideas haven't been taken on?
