I can see how you got your forum handle, now :o

Love the golden lion unless it's a 20k plus crowd then it's fucked,Nelson is a great little boozer. Like railway but it impossible with that tiny bar .
Can anybody still get in Queens Road social club or do you have to be a member .

Any one else remember Gary and Carol Mason from Fannys? Carol was great often cooked us a breakfast when an after bird session turned into an all nighter / sleep in the darts room downstairs
Yes I think so, wasn't Gary a big bloke dark haired bloke with glasses?

Really when did that happen, it's been closed and empty for almost 20 years.
Just checked on Planning and there was an application to reopen but was withdrawn following Environment Agency objection in Aug last year

Queens Road...just sign the book on your way in...Only regular type beer though like John Smith's and Stones,I can drink it,but prefer a decent pint of real ale these days.

Will try his mutton curry next time.

That was the Jerk Chicken
Washed down with a tropical fruit punch.

I understand he has a Sexy Juice but
a) haven't got a clue what that is
b) Weren't offered any
c) Foxy knows what it is

Make sure you try both the mutton and the sexy juice...

Also, a couple of likely looking individuals have popped up on Kev's Facebook/Instagram, I'll not post it :)

Just a question that begs an answer.

Is the Sexy Juice, cloudy?

I go to pubs to drink good beer, first and foremost. I rarely have more than a couple of pints - even if I'm not driving. But I like good quality beer that is well kept in prime condition. I am a bit of a connoisseur and I like real ale - preferably something 5% or stronger. Just about every pub in Britain now has "real ale" - but there's real ale - as in the mass produced crap that is spewed out by the big breweries and found on the bar of pubs everywhere (like Sharps Doombar, Deuchars, London Pride, Black Sheep, Timothy Taylors, Old Speckled Hen, Hobgoblin, etc) and there's real ale - as in small microbreweries that produce smaller quantities of really nice fresh beer with a huge variety of styles and flavours. I prefer the latter. By a factor of about 149 trillion to 1. In fact, I'm happy not to drink beer in a pub if they don't have some decent real ale on cask (preferably).

That means that most of the pubs mentioned by the OP are not of much use to me. The Cremorne does have some real ales on - but mostly fairly "mainstream" - The Clubhouse has a token gesture to real ale - but it's not a serious real ale drinkers pub. The only one on that list that has a regular, ever-changing, range of real ales is the Beer Engine. I've been in occasionally on match days but I wouldn't exactly call it a Blades pub as such.

Down the road at the Sentinel Brewhouse you can get good real ale, most of it brewed on the premises, and a chip butty on match days, for £4, so I'm told. They also have their own red and white striped SUFC Kop lager - so all you folks on here who haven't a clue about real ale can go and sup something that tastes like Carling and be happy!

Love Sentinel, but I'm more of a keg than cask drinker (Good selection of both in there though). One minor correction - it's £6 for a chip butty and pint!
Agree with that almost 100%, apart from the Sentinel, which is just an absolute rip off and way too expensive - yes, the ale is good but not THAT good to justify their prices.

We used to drink in the Dev Cat until they refurbed it. The beer is still good but the service is slow. Nowadays it's either the Sheffield Tap or the little gem off West Street/Glossop Road, The Bath Hotel - awesome ale in there! It's a bit of a hike but worth it.

Love the Bath. Proper pub with excellent beer on. 15% discount for ticket holders on matchdays as well.

I'm usually in the Cremorne, come & say hello!
In there next Wedsdi then Jansk?
I'll let thi buy mi and Ken Jnr a pint o Kelham best, lad :)

If tha wants to see who's who then look for Foxers pic of me and Ken Jnr that King Kev of Carribean Spice took Chewsdi this week.

Come and say "bollocks" at any reight :)

This is the first time I've posted, though I've been a full-on stalker for quite a while now. I'm driven to do so because I can't believe there have been only two fleeting references to the Sheaf View - not to be confused with the awful Sheaf House - which must be very high on the list of best Blades pubs within easy walking distance of the ground. Always seven or eight real ales on (no Doom Bar or Black Sheep) plus no end of Belgian/German stuff in funny glasses for those who like it that way. A proper pub.

I might just have made it that much harder to get served on match days, but still...

Mate, the Three Tuns and Red Deer show respect for the ale confusing name check..

What is inexcusable is that deviation via the Broadfield and Harley.. That's like you were going home and then decided you were on it and headed back to town...

Not bad boozers but a strange route PLUS YOU MISSED THE BYRON...

Sheaf View isn't quite in the near-vicinity of the Lane, and I'm not sure if it's a traditional Blades pub.

I agree it's an excellent boozer, and if you nip down the gennel over the Sheaf you can be at the Lane in ten minutes.

Not in close proximity but walkable , The Stag on Psalter Lane , Thornsbridge ales , i love White Swan.
Not near the ground , maybe not there any more , The Big Tree at Woodseats.

The Broadfield is a magnificent boozer. The Harley, just convenient. And need's must :)

PS where's The Byron?

Yes, Big Tree has traditionally been a Blades pub. The Stag not so much.

The Byron is right in the middle of Nether Edge, near the shops. It's similar to the Stag, it's more of a middle class Nether Edge boozer. Not a hardcore Blades hangout, though I know a few Blades that sup in there, or used to.

Yes, perhaps traditional is not the right word as the Sheaf View has been open as such only since 2000. But on match days it's full of Blades shirts - so I'll just say it's among the very best of our fans' pubs.
