You've got to be kidding
No, the royal was my local for yrs, a lot of the locals were West Indian.
At lot of them still friends with today, although a lot have since passed.
Mid 70s one of the guys had a private party upstairs, me and my ex were invited. First thing we had was curried goat and rice out of a giant pan. Could have been the 'dutchie'. Loved it.

Forgot to mention the Jack in the Box at Hackenthorpe. Lots of Blades got moved out there from Attercliffe in the 60s. My Uncle Jack liked this pub on a match day, partly because of the name which he believed was some sort of sign that he should drink there. My Uncle Fred (the one who was a mate of Blades legend Fred Furniss) still lives in Hackenthorpe but the Jack pub, like my Uncle Jack, is sadly no longer with us.

The Jack only closed a month or so ago .

Notice Saltfish fritters on the board, Ken. The St Lucian version, called fishcakes by them, is one of my favourites. Dumplings aren't bad, but not as good as Mrs SEB, and they call them bakes, though they are made the same way.

Tramway on London Rd was virtually owned by the BBC back in the day.

I'd say around half of the pubs surrounding the Lane that were open back in the 80's have now closed.
I was offered a ten pound note for a fiver in there. :)

Closed pubs - Earl of Arundle, Sportsman, Tramway, Sheldon.....

Not as many as I first thought. Any more?

I go to pubs to drink good beer, first and foremost. I rarely have more than a couple of pints - even if I'm not driving. But I like good quality beer that is well kept in prime condition. I am a bit of a connoisseur and I like real ale - preferably something 5% or stronger. Just about every pub in Britain now has "real ale" - but there's real ale - as in the mass produced crap that is spewed out by the big breweries and found on the bar of pubs everywhere (like Sharps Doombar, Deuchars, London Pride, Black Sheep, Timothy Taylors, Old Speckled Hen, Hobgoblin, etc) and there's real ale - as in small microbreweries that produce smaller quantities of really nice fresh beer with a huge variety of styles and flavours. I prefer the latter. By a factor of about 149 trillion to 1. In fact, I'm happy not to drink beer in a pub if they don't have some decent real ale on cask (preferably).

That means that most of the pubs mentioned by the OP are not of much use to me. The Cremorne does have some real ales on - but mostly fairly "mainstream" - The Clubhouse has a token gesture to real ale - but it's not a serious real ale drinkers pub. The only one on that list that has a regular, ever-changing, range of real ales is the Beer Engine. I've been in occasionally on match days but I wouldn't exactly call it a Blades pub as such.

Down the road at the Sentinel Brewhouse you can get good real ale, most of it brewed on the premises, and a chip butty on match days, for £4, so I'm told. They also have their own red and white striped SUFC Kop lager - so all you folks on here who haven't a clue about real ale can go and sup something that tastes like Carling and be happy!

Salutation Inn, Attercliffe - good little Blades pub, knocked down a good few years ago now. But more seriously, what happened to the Manor at Manor Top? My late Uncle Cyril kept that pub in the 70s. Ironically, he was a Wednesdayite, which may explain why he hated the customers so much. Great place for a punch-up on Saturday nights. Haven't been up there for years and can't find any sign of it online.
If it is the Manor Hotel on Fretson road it was shut down years ago due to trouble and made into a members only club. Saturday nights used to be good in there when the disco was on, 10pm would see a bus full of coppers parked up outside waiting for it to kick off, they weren't usually disappointed. Funniest I saw in there was the night Troggy came in with a nanny goat on a rope.

Barry's used to be the Pheasant. A mate of mine worked behind the bar there for a while so it was well easy to get served even when packed out on matchdays :)

Think the Barrel is still open.

Used to start matchdays down Chezzy road myself when I lived in Meersbrook, The Crown, White Lion, The Sheaf, The Shakespeare are not officially Blades pubs but always pulled plenty in. The Red Lion was the one down there I was least keen on yet funnily enough was the only one (or so I was told) with hardcore Blades links; apparently once had a landlord in the BBC. Not sure if this was true?

The Crown was a big Blades pub. Ran coaches out of there.

Landlord of Red Lion not BBC, although I believe one of the London Road pubs is run by a well known character.

Spoons,EccyRoad then Albion my pubs of choice this season before kick off,Albion/Old Crown to celebrate another victory afterwards

When kids were little,Queens Road club or upstart in Cricketers

Agree with most of that apart from Deuchars, once had a pint of that at the bar of their Brewery in Edinburgh and it was like rabbit gravy.

Remember when Billy had the Cricketers?

Used to go in Sunday's, if he was in the mood he told some great stories.

It was Karaoke later in the afternoon and there was a young girl on who sounded just like Whitney Houston, she couldn't sing anything else but her stuff though.

Black Sheep around where it's brewed is pretty good, but I once had a pint of lager, so what do I know!

1998. Simon Tracey got a pair of black eyes after the WBA home game. Someone told me he was helping Billy who trying to control a violent customer and then got hit. He had to play in a match at Tranmere two days later because Kelly was too injured to play

The beauty about our wonderful ground and its location,is that you can drink in town or on Eccy Road and its still a short walk to the ground,it's not quite Brentford but having 2 pubs on the corners of the ground is another attraction, arrive by train there is an ale route,Tap,Rutland/Globe/Red Lion/Roebuck.

Agree with that almost 100%, apart from the Sentinel, which is just an absolute rip off and way too expensive - yes, the ale is good but not THAT good to justify their prices.

We used to drink in the Dev Cat until they refurbed it. The beer is still good but the service is slow. Nowadays it's either the Sheffield Tap or the little gem off West Street/Glossop Road, The Bath Hotel - awesome ale in there! It's a bit of a hike but worth it.

Used to be the globe, were we would all meet up and walk to the lane from there, but it has been a very long time since I was in Sheffield so probably not there any more or changed to something else?

The Globe is some awful student chain bar now.

As a non-drinker these days, I just wish there were a Blades Organic Juice Bar...

Btw, I see that Spurs are incorporating a micro-brewery (& a bakery) into their new mega-stadium. Surprised Kev's not gone down similar lines. Maybe when the kop's redeveloped, eh?

If it was a large pot with a handle, possibly with feet as well, then it was a Dutch pot. In the Caribbean they cook on open fires alot, and a good pot can sit stewing for hours.

Dutchie nowadays means something a bit different. ;)
