Judging by the deluge of responses you've had id say I'm nearer the mark than you ...
Kind Regards 😇
Super Furry with nothing really to say hilarious. We will watch for anything constructive going forward….but I doubt that will happen 😂

We need to focus on things we can control, not those that we can't. There's absolutely nothing we can do about VAR. There is when it comes to team selection, subs, our approach, making stupid mistakes in injury time.

Yes agree with that but that VAR decision was shocking and will take some time before myself and many thousands of others get over it

We will never know
And thats the most frustrating thing about this. In the stadium you could feel it as if Sunderland were about to give up and we were charged up even further.THEN that decision and everything reversed you could f e e l the energy around us drain away so the same probably goes for some of our players. VAR has no place in football because not only does it disrupt games it has become selective

Ok. I understand how VAR works on supporters, I wasn’t there and didn’t watch live and in the stadium so can’t comment on this part in particular.

However, watching it later, it was clear that we were completely in control and even second half had chances to put the game beyond them. I’d argue that the Brooks chance was more of a game changer in terms of the flow of the game. We got caught out by not being able to see the game out rather than a VAR decision, but that’s my view

Ironically, we’ve been saved from a season of VAR delays and baffling decisions and I’m quite happy about that

VAR was a factor in the 2022 play-off final too, when John Moss - massively unfit and incompetent but given a farewell match to officiate - booked a Huddersfield player for simulation in the Forest box. Replays showed that it was a clear penalty but the VAR didn’t intervene.

Later in the game, Max Lowe tripped another Huddersfield player in the box. Again, the VAR didn’t intervene.

The VAR on that occasion was the Paul Tierney - the useless turd who was on duty for the Villa Park ghost goal.

As Tom Lees, Huddersfield’s captain said afterwards about the VAR ‘error’, “This could change the club’s entire future.” Quite - as they languish in League One…

I would agree with no VAR this coming season. Eventually it will become fully ai automated and then and only then will it become less selective without the human biase will cease. Howeverr I have to say it was VAR mainly responsible because if that goal is allowed and it should have been Sunderland collapse you could feel it that is until Kavanah and his crew decided otherwise

It was, but we didn’t fail to gain promotion because of it. There’s a whole host of reasons why, most of which were in our gift to prevent/change/improve upon.

It's the delay that compounds the decision and considerably helps swing momentum. Had the flag been raised immediately (with no checks), the impact on the game would have been far less.

I don't at all hold VAR responsible for us losing. But even a correct VAR determined decision to disallow can be a far greater disrupter than a goal immediately disallowed through a referring error. It sapped my emotions sat on a sofa let alone the Blades in the stands. There really needs to be a time limit applied to make a decision, and if no decision possible in the time, benefit of doubt to attacking side and carry on.

That’s true.

The effect was similar to when a team wins a penalty but then misses it. The momentum shift is often such that for the team that misses, it would have been better for them to have not been awarded the penalty in the first place.

Good comparison. But VAR has none of the elegance or player determined outcome. For non black and white calls (which some bot ought to now make), it just opens the door for another Nigel to stick their oar in.

It could be argued that it wasn't a clear and obvious error. The ball was struck hard and fast and was in the back of the net before anyone knew what had happened. The ref didn't react. The linesman didn't react. The Sunderland players didn't react. VAR is supposed to over rule clear and obvious errors. No one in Wembley Stadium spotted anything wrong. Clear and obvious my arse!

That's still not why we lost. For me if was the Moore/Campbell counter attack followed by poor substitutions and a change in formation that took away everything that had been working.
