Wilder knows what he is doing, leave him alone....

Really!!??

De Ja Vu!!!!!!!

Surely all is rosy. After all pigs and Rotherham also lost to league 2 sides tonight.
So yeah..we only lost by a single goal. Quite a good team Crewe you know. They saw it as a cup final we are such a big club.

That sounded poor, huff, puff no finish need to get some bodies in Chris asap

Que the excuses!

McNulty was a lot brighter than Sharpe when he came on - Hussey really worries me, seen him twice and he looks poor defending and going forward - Fleck is a good player will offer loads but much more work needed on this team

If he performed anything like he did Saturday then we have probably replaced a left back with an even shitter left back.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the old classic

"At least we can concentrate on the league now"

Win against Rochdale on Saturday and we're back on course
But there'll be some pressure on that game now.
If we lose or even if we draw then some of the crowd could turn even at this early stage.

no excuses for blowing a lead with 2 minutes to go then losing in et
piss poor start , has to improve
big difference between talking well and playing well
players have to improve on whats been offered so far

not bothered at all about the efl cup but I am about the way we lost

Sadly this has made us all nervous. The crowd will be very anxious on Saturday.

Turned on him already or never wanted him?

Never wanted him to be honest but I am sure he will sort it out. That's what people keep telling me anyway.

How can I doubt a manager who has never managed at this level before.

We look utter shite at the moment. Money needs spending pronto but I won't hold my breath.

I might sound like McCabe but we were unlucky tonight and created many chances, its not Wilders fault we've missed them too. I'm fuming tonight like most will, but its the League Cup and hopefully the team will take it out on Saturday. The League cup results tonight are full of surprises and even though we played our first team we haven't been the only shock have we. The major downside is that it will make both the players and the fans more anxious on Saturday now. Its early days and we need to give the likes of Hussey some time to settle.Hopefully we'll make one or two signings. Left wing an absolute must, Done creates nothing from the left, and we have no competition there either.

The subs were dubious but where is the repeatedly vaunted pathway to youth gone? Has someone stolen it? Has anyone reported it to South Yorkshire's finest? Have they managed to fuck it up?

Why have we had the likes of Coutts, K Wallace and Freeman on the bench in the first 2 games. All transfer listed. All not wanted. Why are they blocking off youth players? Especially in a shitty cup where a lot of teams rested players.

It's bollocks isn't it? There were more chances for youth players under the last 2 managers.

not with this midfield we won't.

UTB

Personally I like this midfield.. Always thought Basham is a top player when played in his preferred position which is something Wilder said will happen this season.. Flek is something else. Has the ability to move forward, and given time, when they have all worked together longer I think he'll work a lot harder.. Its the strike force im not too keen on at the moment. 50+ goals between them last season and they look shy in front of goal (I wont mention last Saturdays stat lol). Although Clarke looked a massive threat this eve. Was a shame we lost that game tonight. I don't think we particularly played bad this evening except for the long ball approach towards the end. Calvert-Lewin needs another loan though.

Scougall and McNulty were two of our better players when they came on. Both looked lively and like they wanted to attack. I would like to see Scougs given a run back in the advanced central midfield role he excelled in in his first season.

It's a pity McNulty didn't shoot rather than squaring to the dreadful Calvert Lewin, who carried on from last season by offering nothing at all. I don't see what attribute he has that suggests anyone better than us would want to buy him. He's tall is about all I can get. He's also soft, slow and severely lacking technically.

Someone mentioned Hussey earlier as well. Well, Harris is still available on a free. He'd be an improvement by the looks of things.

Fleck needs a good partner in central midfield. With Basham we're going nowhere.

We have to take our chances, this game should never have gone to extra time.

In patches, we played some decent stuff but the final ball needs to be better.

Worrying that Crewe looked fitter and pressed us very well at times.

OK, here's one.
Fuck the cups. Let's get out of this league.
I'd go along with that but I suppose tonight was a good chance for the new players to get more game time together, and for Wilder to learn more about them, and we haven't dropped 3 points.

I thought Hussey was poor, certainly no better than Bob Harris, Duffy misplaced a lot of passes and didn't particularly impress and Basham was awful, he isn't a good enough footballer to play in midfield and should be in the back four where his poor touch is less of a liability. Thought O'Connell, Wilson and Brayford played well generally, but the whole defence seemed to freeze for both goals and watched as Lowe pounced on the second ball.

On that showing we'd better hope that Adams transfer fee is available because we desperately need to improve the midfield.
