Cup matches?

Ok, without bruising Wilders ego too much can I suggest that if all our loanees are fit, it should be Choudhury that drops out not Gilchrist.

His selections against Hull, Portsmouth, and Luton have been awful, similar to the changes a manager would make in cup matches.

Where are you getting that from?

Hull
I would say he made a mistake of putting Burrows at Central Midfield. But... we had no midfielders. Hamer was suspended. Davies was injured. Souza was injured. Arblaster was injured. Rak-Sakyi came off the bench for his first game in a month following a knock.
This was the lineup (bold players would be classed as first choice in light of injuries/suspensions):
Cooper
Gilchrist - Anel - Robinson -
McCallum
Peck - Burrows
Brooks - O'Hare - Diaz
Cannon

Portsmouth
You'd consider this to be a "cup team"? Again, i've bolded who i'd consider to be first choice players in the position:

Cooper
Clarke - Anel - Robinson - Burrows

Choudhury* - Souza
Diaz - Hamer - Campbell
Cannon
I've asterisked Choudhury as maybe Peck would be considered 1st choice there.
It was strange having Diaz on the right instead of left. Dropping O'Hare is the big thing here, but guessing he didn't want to risk him for Boro 4 days later... however, everybody has been clamouring for Hamer to play centrally

Luton
O'Hare in for Brewster and Burrows > McCallum and it's pretty full strength isn't it? Hamer was injured.

Cooper
Clarke - Anel - Robinson -
McCallum
Choudhury*
- Souza
Rak-Skayi -
Brewster - Diaz
Campbell

It's just squad rotation for me

For added context Matlock Blade . Here are our cup lineups this season:

FA Cup RD3:
Davies
Gilchrist - Baptiste - RND - McCallum
Blacker - Burrows

Brooks* - Marsh - Brewster
One
*Brooks was first choice as Rak-Sakyi was still injured.

League Cup RD2:
Davies
Sachdev
- Anel - RND - McCallum
Peck* - Coulibaly

Rak-Sakyi - Marsh - Hampson
Brewster
*Peck was very much an understudy in August

League Cup RD1:
Grbic
Seriki
- Souttar - Trusty - Boyes
Peck - Coulibaly
Hampson
- Marsh - Slimane
Brewster

I don't think that playing Choudhury and Souza as midfield has worked well yet. Obviously Wilder thinks it has though.

Before the opening game, Preston, we were not in the conversation concerning promotion places. A rebuild year was mentioned and I would agree after the Premier League disaster. But here we are top 2 with, I would say, a squad that is good but not great. We are punching above our weight in terms of results and playing about as good as expected re. the beginning of the season.
Some games we have played very well, some not very well. Usual for a season. The problem is we all know what is coming if we go up, IF we continue like we play against Hulls and Portsmouths of the world.
But we have new owners, untested in the BIG league. Wilder did get us 9th and that was a helluva season.
Our recruitment let us down last time round and resigning players was, well we all know those two stories. Recruitment so far has been excellent and with more cash we can attract better players for next season so we can finish at least 18th.
But all that is putting the old cart in front of the geegee.
Let Wilder et al do their job. Have faith. Moan if you must, it's okay, that is why we have this forum.
Bottom line, get behind the lads on the field and lift em up when down, celebrate when they do good.
The future is bright......

I agree Alex. I always get behind the team and management. I disagree with all managers sometimes, which is probably why they are managers and I am not. I have never booed our players or manager.

What makes you think that? Wilder has seen the same as us and presumably picked that pairing due to Peck needing a rest and Davies being injured.
