Very concening that our 34 year old skipper is still our best striker. We spent £30m on Moose & McBurnie, both looked like they were in a training session tonight. In the summer we need to spend the bulk of the budget on getting this part of the side up to scratch.

Tufty knew this, which is why he spent £40m on strikers last Summer. Sadly neither of the two you mention and Robinson look anything like...

I'd imagine we'll be spunking more moneh on strikers this Summer!!

Mcburnie has been our best for a while and is getting better. Moose is probably our best when he's on it although I must admit it is getting concerning now. We still need to add in this position, we probably always will.

McBurnie, Seriously? He was shocking tonight. Can’t stand up to a challenge, can’t pass and can’t score - bit of a problem if you’re a striker

Think we watched different games. Mcburnie seemed to bring play along massively when he came on, was allover the place and brought some finesse passing to a scrappy game.

How he played tonight (didn't watch) isn't that important. In the league he has improved alot and wouldn't be described how you describe his performance tonight. He is still only 23, it would be silly to count him out now.

Moose is beginning to look just like those Bournemouth supporters told us he was, not a regular starter or scorer, but is an impact player from the bench. He looks increasingly ineffective & less interested than he did before Christmas. Sharp was much much better & looked like he was trying to link up with McBurnie, who is slowly improving without looking like scoring.

But with an ineffective midfield there was not much service for any of the strikers.

Poorest game I've seen Moose have he didn't seem particularly interested. Hopefully he will free turn to his early season form on Saturday.

Moose let me down a bit today...but he's not really had much of a run in the team, and I think sometimes its a run of games that a player needs.
For me McBurnie is our 4th choice, I'd like to see Sharp, McGoldrick and Moose play ahead of him.

Fair comment about him improving and I’m not writing him off but my issue is that spending £20m on a striker you’d expect him to be getting shots off every game and he still spends too much time on his arse complaining to the ref. Contrast him with Billy who always looks dangerous
UTB

Moose looked like he wanted a goal and wasn't bothered about anything else. Not a Sheffield United performance.

First touch was heavy too.

McBurnie was poor tonight but has been good in the league lately.

McGoldrick was very sloppy but scored.

Bill showed them all how it's done, good in possession, found space, brought other players in.

Work to be done.

I don't think Billy looks dangerous in the premier league. 20 million Isn't that much for a striker now, he isn't the finished article. Same with moose, but he seems to have other things holding him back. If we sign a new striker in the summer Mcburnie will still be here fighting fir a spot.

As we have no stars - it's a joint effort with our strikers....and all have played well at some point in the season so far.......Didsy is now moving into his goalscoring phase late in the season like he normally does 👍 😍

Sharp is Still the best striker we have.
Holds the ball up well, always manages a good lay off under pressure.
Can control a ball hit with pace right at him.
Knows how to draw a foul from less experienced players.

Not Mooses game tonight,he does not have the awareness in a packed area that Sharp has
counter attack is his thing.Tried some shots that were never on tonight when a simple pass would have been a better option.
Goldie showed patches of class that we all know he has but was just lacking in sharpness which is entirely understandable.
McBurnie, second choice behind Sharp.....getting better, needs to learn the optimum time to pull the trigger,he’s got his critics,I’m not one of em.
Liverpool are out! .... avoid Man City in the next draw and it’s game on!.
UTB.

Those first team regulars who missed tonight’s game will be a bit rusty when they come back on Saturday. Proves my point about not testing them, they need game time after a lay off like last month.
Sharp and McGoldrick doing what they did in the championship and scoring goals to sneak us through.
I was only able to listen to a chunk of the second half on Radio Berkshire, and the second half of ET on radio Sheffield.
My question for those who watched live is, is Baldock becoming a liability? Seems to give away loads of free kicks?
Reading played well above themselves collectively, in a game that was their big chance, with nothing to play for in the league this season. Pity they can’t produce that kind of fighting performance in the league.
I hope we don’t get caught cold at home on Saturday. What little I heard of this game will only give Norwich confidence.
Any one tell me any different?

Baldock, like everyone else had a bit of a shocker. I wouldn’t say he a liability though as his attacking threat on a normal performance is outstanding. However he does give away silly niggly fouls and the opposition will play to that.
We certainly need to be a lot better against Norwich but, with a full first XI out, I’m sure we will be. Don’t know why but we always seem poor after a break

MCB was good tonight. I thought he made a difference. I have been quick to say when he has been poor but tonight he was an improvement. Baldock has his worst game in 2 years for me. He can have. 1 ! We scored within 2 mins and should have ripped them apart but we didn’t. In the end we dodged a bullet. Best beer selection at any away ground so far though ! 😜

Played a lot better when McBurnie & Sharp came on , Moose & Didsy weren’t holding the ball up , but in fairness to those to we missed Fleck & Norwood to provide threaded passes through that they feed off . No classic but battled it out .. if I’m honest thought it had pens written all over it .
Long crawl back now but better knowing we’re in hat for the quarters

If you're not happy we've brought in players with the talent of Mousset then this football lark isn't for you.

Talent yes. Poor tonight... yes. Why do we think he’s exempt from someone asking why his control and reactions were so poor?

Our frontline does lack potency, what we need is pace with aggression, players who put the fear of god into the opposition. Sadly we don’t have that and it just shows just how much you have to pay for that kind of full bloodied attacking talent.

Mousset has all of the raw materials to fit the bill, but for some reason appears to lack the desire or professionalism to fulfil his potential and sadly I don’t think he ever will.

McBurnie, lacks the pace and is neither aggressive or intimidating, he’s capable of good periods of play but he lacks consistency and he’s too quick to opt to con the ref rather than fight for the ball and like Mousse, I often wonder if he wouldn’t rather be doing something else, other than football.

Sharp is a superb striker, he has everything, determination, positional sense, touch, strength, guile, and awareness of others. To me he’s always played like he absolutely loves the game and is the consummate professional. Sadly, what he lacks is pace and now youth. If he’d been blessed with pace, he’d have had a lot of International caps.

McGoldrick isn’t an out and out striker in my opinion, he plays too deep, but he is often the catalyst we need to create goal scoring chances and for that reason has to play when fit.

We’ve done amazing this season and all of the players including the above, at some point, have played their part, but whilst I believe our midfield and defensive options compare favourably with anyone, I think Wilder will be in the market for at least one new striker this summer if we have ambitions of joining the Premier League elite, on a full time basis.

Would like us to sign 2 strikers for next season .

I’d be all over pukki or Maupay if they go down and someone like Ollie Watkins
