They are the kind of players you'd find in a relegated team. Slow, clumsy, wasteful, scared

They were not good enough in the second half of last season, and they aren't now.

Stevens - Lethargic, so slow when he has the call. Needs 5 second before he can decide what to do next, goes for the obvious, won't take a risk, slow at getting back and forward, won;t push to the byline, crossing is poor, marking is poor, closing down is poor, passing is always safe.Gives away stupid fouls.

Lundstram - slow and cumbersome. Players run round him like he wasn't there, can't shoot, no composure, poor passer and will pass the responsibility to play a brave forward pass, marking and tracking is poor.

Evans - Mr sideways. Fuck me, that lad loves going sideways and backwards, again, painfully slow in thougt and dead. Needs far too much time to make a decision, crossing is poor, Corners are poor.

Basham - While Bash has been a 150% his ability to do that has been slowly wearing off. Tragic at times with the ball. You can see the panic when he makes a run forward. Passing in abject. Defending is rash. His reactions are sooo slow. turning arc of a lorry. position in dire. Marking is poor.

This is not a snap judgement based on one game. This is almost every game since January.

We have no hope of getting into the play-offs unless we replace all these players.

Got to agree, of the 11 that started these are the 4 that should out as a little disappointing, how lundstrum sarted over Duffy I’ll never know. The midfield three lack any creativity hence the slow build up which just allowed Swansea to get organised. Feel sorry for fleck because he seemed to be playing quite deep today with Evans being further up the field. Would have preferred fleck further up because he carries the ball quicker and actually has a forward pass in him.

As much as I love big bash he isn’t the quickest and was found out well and truly today. Wilder will sort it UTB!

With 5 games between the 4th and 18th some of these players need to be rotated ,perhaps Wilder was saving Duffy for Boro on Tuesday.
Weather too hot for some a few should have just sat on the subs bench under a sun umbrella today, someone tell them preseason is over.Get a tan or sit out.

need a quality cm and striker with pace, we will be near bottom all season if we don't sort these out, midfield is shocking

It’s become a broken record complaining about Evans and Lundstram playing together and Stevens’ form over the last 9 months. Scarily it doesn’t seem like changing. Harsh on Basham however. Apart from that horrendous dive I like the lad and think he’s very good over a season. Wasn’t great today but nobody deserves above a 6/10 today apart from Henderson quite frankly.

Totally agree we won’t get in the top 6 but this was never my belief anyway.

Basham is a favourite of mine for the 100% effort and I think he has a place to play. With ability he would be a top end player as his athleticism and reading of the game, to me is excellent. But he makes a run and gets clear and it all becomes a bit, well, unpredictable let’s say.

Lundstram and Evans are the same player, who are also similar to Fleck but far inferior. Never going to work all 3 together.

Stevens I’ve said my opinion on him. Not an adequate LWB for the Championship and in our team, how we play it is a crucial role, arguably as crucial as a striker.

None of this will change but I think we’ll be ok this year. 12th to 18th I predict.

The first match at home is far more important than the first one away, this is the one you play your best team in because trying to be a cleaver bugger in this game usually leaves us with nowt .

We haven't learnt from last season.

Same problems - same people - have we not coached them differently in pre-season to put individual faults right?

SAME bloody problems - argh

Fuck this - first game of the season bollox - same problems as last season - we haven't moved our game plan from anything that was dished up 2nd half of the season.

Learnt nowt :(:(:(

At least we have a change of personnel this season.

This is a crucial point for me. Wing back is the most important role in our formation. If they're not playing well then we look poor.

I thought baldock was much better today to be fair ,much more composed and Stevens at one point was hitting crosses first time and not dawdling, this didn't last long though and he reverted to just turning back and finding a safe pass

What's this? Overreacting on a football forum? Well, I never!

Was today really much different to the second half of last season?

I think Woodburn will be an asset and improve things. he looked lively when he came on and has the ability to open things up.

I also think we'll look a lot better if we can bring a striker or two in. Both Sharp and Clarke played out of their skins last season but it's a big ask for that to continue. If we bring in someone who can make things on his own and with a bit of pace it will change how we look.

Not really, but it's also the first game of the season - It's very difficult to play a relegated or promoted team straight away, as there's no real way of knowing what to expect from them. But I do think if Duffy had started, they would have murdered us through the middle. Also I think signing someone like Waghorn could drastically change the way we play, and change the options available to us.

Or alternatively, we might have been a lot more positive if we had had Duffy in there playing as an attacking midfielder, got them on the back foot, and murdered them in midfield.

I know which way I think it would probably have gone. A mistake by CW today and I love the guy. But I'm not blind enough to think that he doesn't make mistakes.

this totally this ..thanks i was going to say the same .. bash got sold so many dummies with his diving in that he could open a mannequin shop

Basham as awful defensively . The second goal in particular was down to him not being in th right position

They won one header on the halfway line against Basham and suddenly our entire team was out of position. Never seen anything like it. After that it was like trying to watch a pack of Labradors chase a tennis ball.

The amount of times Basham got turned by his man was terrifying.

I honestly cannot understand what anyone sees in lundstram. All you need to do is look at our record with and without him over the last 12 months to see the effect he has in the team. It’s crazy, I think our win percentage is something like 10% with him in the team! And this is a significant sample size...

It was Basham that was out of position. Should never have gone for the header and left Egan totally exposed. Stevens then decided to stand in the middle of the box instead of marking his man at the far post despite having got away with doing the same when they hit the bar a few minutes earlier.

Very disappointing that we have same problems as 6 months ago. Stevens was dreadful, Basham not much better and Egan disappointing. O'Connell not dominating with a couple of monumental cock ups.

Very early but last year's games v Cardiff and Villa are remarkably similar.

6/10 could do better let's smash Boro,

I'd add Lundstrum to that list, and I don't think Clarke did anything great today either.
Wilder picked the wrong starting line up for me.
Duffy in for Lundstrum.
Sharp in for Mcgoldrick.
Stearman for Egan.
More attacking, and more suited to our style of play, and God, we miss Coutts and Brooks!!!

Stevens and Basham did well out of those four.

Evans and Lundstram were terrible together
Lundestram out of position ( and not good enough ) ..O'Connell was as bad as Bash ( trying to impress for a move ) ..Evans was Ok ..Fleck was anonymous..and we kno Stevens. Is League 1 material ...
