I agree with what you;re saying fella but it could be argued, in defence of the club, that they meant £200K is a substantial bid for Steve Davis which I think is true. So whilst I'm too unsure why Clough would want him, I think the club's position stands scrutiny.Ludicrous interpretation of what was a clear post.
I was making two separate points - 1. we shouldn't be going for a striker like Davies and 2. £200k is not a substantial bid, contrary to what the Board claimed - it might be more than Davies is worth but it's not a substantial bid.
In the end the worry is, though many would argue it's Clough's target, he's clearly doing that wit his budget in mind. So whilst the club keep saying they are trying to sign the players Clough wants, it's clear that Clough wants the players that fit a very limited budget.
