Halftime at the Lane, had a look online and Scougall doesn't appear to be in the Livingston Squad today

If we do sign this lad it will be interesting to see where Clough plays him. Looks a bit too slight to play in the middle and we have Baxter currently operating behind the centre forward.

Also why did this thread never make it to the rumours section?

Know Jack-all about the lad but having watched this clip he does seem to look very bright, pacey and direct. Seems to like to run at players through the Middle of the park which is something that we miss so we are looking in the right area. I know some peoples opinions of Scottish players eg Murphy & Flynn, but for me those two are cracking players if on their game and played correctly as we have seen since Clough came in.

I can't work out whether he looks "too good for us" or is "too good for the scots league and will be out of his depth in league 1".

Looks very promising. Is this a permanent transfer or loan?

Two footed too. He does look a bit lightweight but I do like players who run at players centrally because it opens pitches up.

Looks a bit like Alan Judge in how he plays. We were rumoured to be after him too so maybe this is just what Clough is wanting.

Supposedly permanent deal with £200,000 on the table and another £200,000 in add ons afterwards.

Cloughie in yesterday's interview said he'd put him on the bench so we might see an early glimpse.

I like players that run directly at defences. Maybe he can pass and shoot as well

Good stuff.

Lets hope that he hits the ground running.

Despite what clough says we cant be carrying anyone atm & need everyone fighting to avoid the drop.

I'm awaiting the backlash against Pommpeys posts now.

Sorry for my pessimistic input but I don't like this 'one for the future' business. The lads 21, if he's not good enough now what's the point? Baxter long and Maguire are all younger and integral parts of our team. We've been here before with those signed 'for the future'

Maybe it's just to take the pressure of his shoulders what with being our only signing for a fee. I think he'll still get plenty game time this season

I think this might be a Clough way of lowering the expectations on the lad. He'll be part of the first team squad, and I'll wager he's on the bench Sunday and be challenging for a start sooner rather than later!

We have to sign a half decent scotch egg eventually i suppose. Law of averages. If he's as good as Ian Bryson, that'll do for me. How do you pronounce Scougall? Does it rhyme with Dougal?

That's one hell of a glowing reference....although he does look super camp in that picture!

And here is a bit of evidence saying exactly that .......

They missed the bit where he swings with his left leg and kicks it out with his right leg. And the bit where he kicks it higher than anyone in the world ever only for it to land where he's standing. It's not easy doing either.

Ooh hello sailor. Weird photo, he kinda looks like a 4 ft tall oompa loompa as well. Or one of those bobblehead things.

So he's being utilized as a central midfielder in his time at Livingston... interesting. Cant see that happening here mind more likely to be cutting in from the wing ala Murphy.

Is it me IOM, or does it look like his head is pasted on?

Point taken about his size by others on her, but I recall that Alan Ball, Archie Gemill, Johnnie Giles, Paul Scholes and many others were all small guys who could play supremely well. Let's hope NC has seen something special in this lad as we get to see a really good attacking midfielder. Good signing in my view, and for an initial outlay of £150K, that's a risk worth taking.

I do hope not. If you're good enough you're big enough. Talent should be used where it's at its most effective. I know it's only Scotland but his close control, pace and speed of thought are conspicuous. I like the look of this kid. He needs to be at the heart of things.

PS - loving the new [CONFIRMED]. Can I have one, please? I think it will be much in use under NC. He's doing exactly what we've all called for repeatedly - a wholesale clear out. More power to his elbow.

Helluva write up for the lad IOM Blade. Any comparison to the great Scottish inside forwards is high praise indeed for anybody that saw/seen Jim Baxter at his prime. And as for the size, aye those massive midfielders Xavi and Iniesta show that you can't do owt there unless you're 6' plus.
