Really excited by this lad, only thing I am personally worried about is he looks very similar to Murphy who came very highly rated but has struggled with the physical side of League One.

Fan away Foxy, Stefan is in good hands at t'Lane. If his desire to do well is in place that's half the battle. Far too much is made about his physique. As other posters have said, there's a list as long as your arm of diminutive players who were, or are, excellent - Johnnie Giles, Archie Gemill, Alan Ball, Gordon Cowans, Paul Scholes, Coutinho, the two Barcelona lads - I could continue, but if Stefan's prepared to make an impression, graft, and not allow himself to be intimidated, we could have a little gem on our hands. I hope so, for his and our sake. Loved his Tweet earlier too, nice touch from one of our new signings. UTB

I watched the full England v Brazil 1962 World Cup match on youtube recently. Scougall's running with the ball and swerving past defenders reminded me of Garrincha! Hope Scougall will be half as good as the "Little Bird!"

Could well turn out to be the new Quinny ? but I really fear for him in this league...
I may be wrong but I think Brandy is a fair example of what usually happens to any small fast tricky player at this level.

He gets a hat trick if you play him from the start

Wow, the ignorance from some posters on here is unbelievable. You have signed what has been Livi's most promising player probably ever to come through our youth system, this includes Robert Snodgrass, Graeme Dorrans, Andy Haliday and Leigh Griffiths, the last two haven't quite reached their full potential yet but I have no doubts that they will produce eventually.

As for the comments about Scougs handling the physical side of the game, he has been playing in Scotland's lower leagues and generally gets little to no protection, he made the step up when we were making our journey back up the leagues after being punted to the bottom tear of Scottish football, Im hopeful that at least down there he might get offered a bit more protection.

An aspect of his game that could perhaps be inproved on imo is his finishing, but what you do have as seen in the video is a two footed player who can run at defenders and pass. There has been comparisons between him and Messi by some of the media, obviously rubbish, but in his stature and two footed ability at least, there is similarities. Anyway I recon you could have yourselfs a bargain, and we as always desperately need the money (it will stave of a third and fatal admin for another year or so at least!)

Don't worry, Chris Porter has already taken him under his wing to work on his finishing.:(

If some of us seem cynical, it's because we're used to a whole stream of failures.

However, he looks like the sort of player we need.

Your endorsement is appreciated, let's hope he can perform for us.

Best of luck with your season.

I appreciate that, and you too, we'll be following his progress closely. And as someone asked earlier, yes its Socugall as in Dougall.

Hi S-Livi, I don't think it's ignorance that prompted the comments, unless of course not having seen the lad is a reason to say we're ignorant. As far as I could see, and I didn't see every post about Stefan, we just hope he'll adjust as quite a few lads from the Scottish lower leagues haven either struggled or taken time to adjust when they migrate down south. But of course, we all hope he repeats what we've seen on the promotional videos. Loved his Tweet yesterday, and at least you guys are now able to shop at Tesco's rather than Aldi for a few months. By the way, I've noticed a lad called Ryan Gauld at Dundee, looks decent. What's your opinion?

Hi S-Liviunless of course not having seen the lad is a reason to say we're ignorant.

The fact most of us knew nothing of him isn't ignorance as he just wouldn't cross our radar. But it is pretty goddarn ignorant for anyone to judge him on the basis of not having seen him.

I just hope he has the character to prosper in a relegation scrap.

Thanks for taking the time to come on and give us your thoughts on him :)

Were still someway from being able to shop at all. As always at Livi were on the brink. However the fee from Scougall and another boy were selling to QPR a center back called Coll Donaldson for a fee around 150k should help a bit. (You got by far the better player) For once we seem to have well structured deals in place for these players. Our past chairmen have been keen to make a quick buck.

Gauld, for me came out of nowhere, but definitely looks a real prospect, there are a few at Dundee Utd, John Soutar, Stuart Armstong and Gary Mckay Steven all could be great players in the future. Gauld is similar to Scougs, slightly younger, but they have been getting similar press attention up here, Scougall initially, and now Gauld has burst onto the scene he has somewhat eclipsed Scougall, however this all bodes well for the national team in a few years, we hope!

Thanks mate. We know all about chairmen at SUFC so no further comment, but as poor as our current position is, the consensus seems to be that in Nigel Clough we've appointed a decent manager. For what it's worth, some of the great midfield players have been small guys, your fellow Scot's Gemill and Bremner, plus Alan Ball, Paul Scholes, Iniesta, Xavi for example. If Stefan's got heart and gives his all then the supporter's will take to him.

Watched a couple of your games when I worked with a guy who was a Livi fan. You played some lovely football and while a lot of your players were what you may class as lightweight it didn't stop you making your way through the pub leagues of Lower Scottish football.

All the best to you and I hope you stave of Admin again.

some of our "fans" seem to love the I told you so rush if we dont win or a player fails, , its getting past a joke with some of the totally negative shite they can come up with, its like we have a full section of trolls who just ache for us to get worse,Ill leave them to it, and look forward to better things
did you see the pictures of those who got done for being trolls , thats what happens you get that fecking ugly , from being so negative

I know it's only YouTube but he looked oreit to me. Anybody who can run at players the way he looks like he can should be ok. We need to give players like this the freedom to express themselves so I hope he gets a decent crack at it and offers us a new dimension.

There's much in what you say blade too long. Trouble is, when a post suggests being supportive, certain posters damn this as not being realistic, as if they have a monopoly of how all things pertinent to the Blades is theirs to comment on. I'd be the first to say that our current situation is worrying, but anyone who thought that appointing Clough as manager meant that miracles would be performed should look towards the Vatican for that type of artificial stimulation.

I read a few posts recently, as well as being entangled in another poster's sulky despondency, that are riddled with desperation. Yes, I think we all recognise that games are running out, but all Clough can do is apply himself, same goes for the team. As for bringing in new players, doesn't anyone think that Nigel's aware of what we need? Maybe the players he wants aren't available? Whatever the reasons for the absence of a new forward being signed, does anyone doubt Clough's judgement regarding who we need to improve the team? If so, then moan away, I'm sure it'll be noted at BDTBL. UTB

As I said just last week itsinyerblood, both 'sides' claim that they are the realists and both sides seem to resent the other for laying claim the word 'realistic'.

Sure you're right Guesty. I don't think any supporter likes being in the position we're in, but it's what it is. The thing is, we've a manager we did well to appoint. he's getting to grips with the players he wants to keep and those who knows won't serve much purpose staying around, and he's begun to bring in players that at the least are interesting. It's just one player, but securing Brayford for the rest of the season shows NC's intentions. Brayford seems to be a rated defender, so at least we've begun to bring in the sort of quality we need. There are those who would have us make a mad dash, sign players for the sake of it, and then we'd live to regret signing also-rans and be lumbered with extortionate contracts while we tried to comply with the new financial housekeeping rules. I'd rather see Clough go about his job in a businesslike manner, sign players who'll improve us, and in turn we'd enjoy watching.

Can't wait to see young Scougall and see how he develops. UTB

So do I mate, so do I. But at an initial £150K it's just the type of speculative signing I'm glad we made. It won't break the bank, and it's all based on the lad coming good, so if he repay's Clough's faith in him we're quids in, if he disappoints we're not seriously out of pocket.

Blades fans are syncretic!

some of our "fans" seem to love the I told you so rush if we dont win or a player fails

That's because things normally do go wrong where United are concerned and players normally do fail so it's an easy prediction. 4 out of 5 times a negative prediction on here tends to end up being spot on. I don't enjoy reading overly negative views but at the same time the gushy misplaced optimism gets on my nerves as well. To me people are entitled to negative comments provided there's is some sound reasoning to it and there normally is on here.

I mean how many times do we have to sell our best player, not replace them, lose a playoff final, sack a manager and get relegated before people are entitled to say something negative? Given the shit our fans have had to tolerate in the last few years and even further back I think they've every right to expect failure!

I'm very positive about our January business for the record, including this signing. The lad looks like he's got good natural ability and could be a little gem so let's hope so. I will however wait to see the lad play before I form a proper opinion. I don't believe in writing anyone off before they have had a chance but I'm not going to be claiming he's a world beater just yet either.
