Is Phillips a statement of intent, or just a waste of money?

Some things that happen leave alot of us baffled, me included.

However whilst not a wilder fan ( or hater) , i do respect that he knows more about players and football than I ever will.

With COH , I have my doubts as most do but respect they might not know much about football but know more about business and finance than most of us ever will.

So it pretty much comes down to trust , we dont know the overall football or business plan but I assume there is both .

Wider will have pushed for the Kalvin Phillips deal possibly with some prompting from Bamford, COH will have just agreed to the funding. KP has hardly had any match practice as far as I am aware so it's difficult to imagine him hitting the ground running which is what we need to have any chance of finishing top six. Take into account his wages and this deal has risk written all over it. Who knows it may turn out to be a master stroke but if it fails badly that will not bode well for Wilder.
