Who are we selling this time, to pay for Desso 2.0?

Asking for an angry friend on the south coast.
I read that Wendy are installing a new pitch at their academy - ‘PurePT’ by TigerTurf, it said that Wendy are to be early adopters of the pitch, Any nerd know anything about the quality compared to Desso?

A quick Google suggests that the PurePT is a fully synthetic (aka 4G) pitch. It's therefore not cleared for use above tier 5.

On the assumption that PurePT is cheaper than Desso it makes sense to install one - not much chance they’ll play high level matches at Middlewood Road.

It'll defo be a hell of a lot cheaper!!

Ground improvements!

Weerz kop pillars?

Still there......
Can't take them out over a summer though can you, you're looking at months of reduced capacity, relocating ST holders and arguably losing the advantage that we get from shooting towards a packed Kop second half. It's a longer term plan

From a club point of view it would be disastrous to try any accommodate everyone by closing the Kop for part of or a whole season.

From an engineering point of view it would be possible to start work within the season the and complete the removal in closed season. Not rocket science but possibly a more expensive approach.

So it’s weighing up the cheaper option and lose of atmosphere versus expensive option and retaining kop on most match days

It's a fair project removing the posts on the kop, but, there's a lot of work that could be done behind it, at any point of the season, as it would only disrupt the 20 or so cars that park there. Depending on how the decided to support the roof, which I would guess a cantilever affair, that could be done in the off season surely??
Obviously the calculations for the weights over area would need to be done before any work anyway.
They could start by filling in the corner, that would atleast allow for structural support before the bigger job???

play off final £ paying for new pitch
stadium redevelopement not happing anytime soon
we can't even sell 35k tickets for a final
and first time for a while new season tickets went on general sale
think attendance will go down slightly next season
Utd prices are exceptional value BUT times are getting hard for lots folk

Leave pillars there. How you gonna stop Kop roof from falling down otherwise?!

In other news: how do planes stay in the sky?

Nearby. Walk past it occasionally and not seen any work yet!

Absolutely nothing done to it in over a year - since we acquired it. There is not even any planning permission gone in - for a new building that the first team would need. They do seem to have cut the grass but there is no signage/no work done or anything.

Seems an odd one - to buy a site and then essentually not touch it for over a year. They will need to completely redo all the pitches - aswell as the buildings they need to put in (gym/pool/indoor training etc - also would surely need to be put in up here if we are actually making it different to Shirecliffe?)

I am not sure we will be moving there for a good few years sadly.

The previous owner said you could. Indeed that was the plan before Covid. I doubt it's a priority now.

It became available and the club jumped in , without development funds, to make sure they got it. Anyone thinking at that point that work would start immediately was kidding themselves. Plus probably slamming PA for being skint but expecting huge amounts to be spent immediately at the same time. As a project, it was still a good move but every season in the Championship results in financial losses.

Whether the new owners plans bring everything forward only time will tell.

Was thinking more Blade56, a step ladder and a tube of No More Nails mesen.

Fingers crossed. When they talk about improvements through the club, a Cat1 academy is the obvious big objective, and one with realistic potential returns. If they do fund that, it’ll be a huge indication of their means and intent.

I hear this so often when we have some of the most expensive season tickets in the Championship. Think we are 5th most expensive.

Stoke City haven’t had an increase in season tickets for 18 (eighteen) consecutive seasons.

Out ST price only seems good because our match day prices are so high, think we’re the 4th highest match price in the EFL. When you think it was £42+£1 booking fee in most areas for matches against Stoke and Hull this season. Was £36+ £1 booking fee on the Kop.

It’s a fair project if you build a proper cantilever structure but I remember Bettis in his interview last year saying it was quite a simple job that could be completed during the Summer.

I’m sure he said technology has improved since those posts were put in and the plan was to put a goal post structure which would be strong enough to hold up the roof. He said Norwich City have something similar.

It sounded like a temporary much needed improvement until the club decides what they are going to do regards the entire stand.

They could have kept the amateur and kids teams playing on there whilst they sorted this for some good pr and even some small revenue (I’m not still bitter my team got booted btw)
