I thought it had already been shown that we can’t rotate the pitch if we want to retain the ability to host Women’s Euro matches due to UEFA guidelines on pitch orientation?

Quite the opposite actually, if the stadium was being built today, it would be built the other way round.

S6 is a Rust Bucket that needs condemning. How's about this? Temporarily move all our training operations to Dore. We build a new, modest 25-30K, out of town stadium somewhere we already own - Shirecliffe. We spend a couple of years renovating The Lane, whatever form that takes (pitch rotation please) and play at the new Modest home. Once The Lane is complete, we move back in and sell the Shirecliffe site to our porkly neighbours, doing their job for them (new ground) keeping the location palatable for the locals. We get paid, get a new ground, football in the region benefits, and we bulldoze the Rust Bucket and turn it into our Women's and Academy Home.

FWIW, The Rust Bucket fits on Shircliffe......

Retain ownership of Shirecliffe and lease the ground to them. Once they’ve “moved in” and relinquished the sty , renege on the deal ( via a legit clause they missed😂)
Leave them completely homeless, and watch them combust!!

I have said this before it is the Kop and Bramall lane ends that are the problem. The kop needs a rebuild urgently so I'd get rid of the media box into the offices where the video screen is, demolish the kop and rebuild 20yards closer to Shoreham st, why you ask? This allows us the make the pitch longer to UEFA standards and move that towards Shoreham st. This would give you more space at the lane end which I would make into a single tier stand which could be split from top to bottom for home and away fans making segregation much easier. A new Kop with proper corners built to the John st and South stands would give you a capacity increase what is there now is a waste of space. The south stand needs another tier and more exec boxes built into it. The alternative is start with a clean canvas possibly somewhere else, the pitch has to be moved towards Shoreham st the Kop and BLLT are not fit for purpose.
Don't think the Lane End should be a top priority given more pressing issues on the kop. Complete rebuild and pitch re-alignment is out of the question as we'd have to move out and it would cost a sum that would only make sense for top PL sides with 50k+ average support.

As others have said, if the Kop could be redeveloped while keeping it open (albeit without a roof), that would be ideal.

Agree…but we only need to look at Sheff Wed….when you keep delaying any decisions regards the ground.
Hillsboro is really starting to look old, like an antique.

Our Kop is a disgrace really. I remember when the Kell Brook boxing fight was on and thought….the inside of the stadium looks quite nice
But what must outsiders think when they went to the back of the Kop to use the toilets and kiosks/ bars.
It’s like being back in the 1980’s and then posts need removing asap.

I’m sure a few month back Bettis said we were removing the pillars on the Kop this Summer. Wonder what’s happening now?
No roof then?

No roof then?
Move the ST holders on the Kop to the Bramall Lane end,

Stand up and sing in BLLT, sit down shut up in BLUT.

Gave away fans the no roof Kop while its being redeveloped.

After the redevelopment, which will include safe standing, everyone can move back to the Kop and we can finally get like-minded fans grouping together to generate some atmosphere.

A great example is happening right now at Sheffield Crucible theatre which has stayed the same since the snooker world championship were first staged there. Now the game as got bigger like darts and smaller venues are not fit for purpose. Sheffield is in danger of losing snooker unless a larger purpose built venue is found quickly, if that takes as long as building Fargate then it is bye bye.
just move it to the Arena and take all the professional coughers that have taken up residence at the Crucible to keep the atmosphere

No need to move from Bramall Lane. Plenty of room behind the Kop. Like Anfield was built at the back, the same back of Tony Currie stand.
Built over Bramall Lane like the Kop at Villa Park. It won't happen anytime soon.

I'd agree no need to move from the present site lots of wasted land behind the kop that could be built on. What should be in place is a staged plan of moving towards Shoreham st no need to do it all at once.
Stage one move the kop to the east.
Stage two extend south and John st stands to the new kop. While doing that add more exec boxes and an extra tier to the south stand
Stage three make BLLT join seamlessly to the upper tier making that end a one tier stand.
Do it all in stages and any loss of capacity is kept to a minimum all that is needed is the will to make it happen and a good chunk of money from the Premier League.

They'll just stand about and watch it happen

Then the moaning will start, ahhh well we tried, but.......

Remind you of anybody? like Sheffields greatest ever entrepreneur for example

Too many bad decisions over the years have meant that a proper redevelopment would be far too costly. So the only options on the table are extensions or move.

It depends on how ambitious the owners are. An expansion whilst affordable, wouldn’t bring the Lane up to modern standards, so I reckon they’ll look to move, that’s if they’re as ambitious as we all hope.

In theory they could build the 2nd story of the kop, behind the kop. Move most of st holders the kop to the 2nd tier whilst demolition and rebuild of the existing kop happened. Some pitch movement could then allow more space to expand The BL stand without going over the road.

BL stand used to be much further from the pitch.

Looks good tbf, think they’ll do it as well 49ers seem ambitious: wish we could do our kop and south stand up at some stage.

There's a big difference between Leeds and ourselves though.

There are 26,000 people on the waiting list for Leeds United season tickets each paying £11 for the privilege of being in the queue.
The number of people in the queue for Blades season tickets.

Is around zero.

Economic viability suggests that the Kop will not be rebuilt anytime soon, no matter how many threads on social media.

Though of course, some will claim that if we build a bigger stadium more people will want to come.

As the former owner of the Sheaf View told me when I suggested improving the bar with some nice joinery - "people don't come to admire the architecture"

I get that, it’s always gonna be the case, they are a huge 1 club City with better recent ish history than us. The point is I’m tryna make, we set the infrastructure up to the best we can, it improves the profile of the club and it shows ambition.

A bigger scale example is China build towns and highways to future proof themselves. I think our ceiling would be 40k in the PL unless something drastic happens.

So if we have Bramall Lane to its best, an improved training ground not only does that appeal to players, coaches, owners and fans etc, it makes it ridiculous for us to ever be below 2nd tier as a club portfolio and the plan is to grow us and maintain us.

That's the spirit .............. the type of thinking that results in Sheffield being the only major European city without it own airport, the type of thinking that results in trains taking longer to get to London than they do from Leeds 40 miles further north. Sheffielders eh happy to sit behind poles, get piss wet through going for a beer at half time and wading through half a inch of piss to use a overflowing trough.

If you sit on the kop your matchday experience hasn't changed for nearly 30 years. I remember when the corner was built and we rejoiced at the fact we didn't have to piss outside any more

People always complain about the corner, but if you view its primary function as a toilet block with a few seats on the back, it's great.

Primary function was a community centre wasn't it? That's how McCabe got the planning permission for it.

New pitch

Work is now underway on a number of improvements at Bramall Lane, which includes considerable investment in the playing surface.

Following the end of the 2024/25 season, and the successful staging of the Paul Heaton concert, work is now accelerating to ensure upgrades to several areas of key infrastructure are complete for the start of next season.

The biggest overhaul will see the Bramall Lane playing surface completely renovated. The current hybrid surface, which was installed in 2015, has come to the end of its decade-long cycle, with work on the new and improved pitch starting this week.

Alongside the new pitch, a polymeric surface will also be installed as part of the run-off on the Tony Currie South Stand side, to help with player protection when overrunning the side of the pitch. New and improved LED perimeter advertising boards will also be installed as part of the pitch side revamp.

Outside of the stadium bowl, the Cherry Street car park is also undertaking some significant work with a complete re-surfacing project beginning shortly.

With lift improvement works also taking place in the John Steet Stand, it promises to be a busy couple of months ahead.

United's chief executive officer Stephen Bettis explained: "The months between seasons are always busy in terms of updating our current infrastructure, but this year we are undertaking some larger than normal changes around the stadium with regards the pitch and other areas.

"What we are commencing here is a huge project which has required some considerable investment from our owners - significantly more than the usual pre-season costs, with more than £2m invested - and is another example of the board's commitment to improvements in all areas of the football club."
