Who knows. Would there be an additional cost or would that be the first piece of the Jigsaw in the Kop development?! Essentially a part payment. Bettis said it'd cost 10-15 million and that it'd take one pre season to complete. At the time the club still had the Kop redevelopment plans in place.

I guess Bettis has announced the intention to have a part redevelopment today, although I acknowledge the financial pressures that inform the rationale for doing so.

Weird how the FAB asked about stadium development & business plans and received an irrelevant answer re: season ticket cards.

In general, it seems to have been a bit of a wasted opportunity. Nothing on the stadium, training ground, academy or general direction the club is heading in.

I can only imagine that:

1. There's something terribly wrong with it - Sheffield FC apply for planning permission for a new stadium every other month! It seems odd that you'd not do that straight away because it needs to be done.
2. We've heard Wednesday are being taken over by Donald Trump and we've got an agreement to sell them that patch of land for $10 million to build the Trump Wednesday stadium out of gold..
3. There's no money. We have to cut bits off Tom Cannon every time we want to pay a bill.

I’m sure he said technology has improved since those posts were put in and the plan was to put a goal post structure which would be strong enough to hold up the roof. He said Norwich City have something similar.

It sounded like a temporary much needed improvement until the club decides what they are going to do regards the entire stand.

It isn't a massive job at all, it's just time and money.
 
Why the hell would we remove the posts on the Kop? It’s just a complete waste of money!

Either do a proper rebuild or just leave it in its current state. I wouldn’t have even painted it black, the new paint job doesn’t hide the fact that it’s a complete dump of a stand. It was just another waste of money.

Think it was stated it could be done over a summer. I seem to remember them removing the posts on the BL upper tier quite quickly. The framework to hold the roof was done during the season and the posts removed close season.

So you don’t think our atrocious play-off history or our atrocious big game history (cups) had any bearing on us struggling to sell tickets. You just think we don’t have the fans?

I thought I read somewhere that there was a problem because there is a cricket team that has long established playing rights at the Dore complex. Presumably a satisfactory replacement pitch has to be found or money has to change hands before their rights are given up and planning permission can be applied for. Might be BS - I don’t know,

I think we have 2 problems here.

1 a fit for purpose stand, which the cop isn't anymore

2 how many fans can we realistically get in the ground

If my memory is correct (and please correct me if incorrect) in our most successful year in the prem ever we had around 45k fans enquiring after tickets. Now in real life not all will want to go every game. So this would tell me that 'IF' we do get success we need a bigger ground. what size I have no idea, someone will have an algorithm to to work that one out.

So the answer to problem 1 is we need a fit for purpose ground, meaning the cop needs developing

The second problem is not black and white though is it. I have seen comments on, add the south stand for roi, anyone have an idea on how corporate is going, I do, it aint full at the moment, never mind adding another 20 boxes and lets say another 1000 leather padded seats. this will only be needed if we have success at the level of our most successful year in the prem so far.

The second problem all depends on how much success folk think we can generate. the figures suggest that adding to the kop and south stand would be viable if we got a successful team on the pitch. How we do any of this I have absolutely no idea at all

It's correct. There's a legally binding agreement between the Council and the ECB (via the local YCB) that every pitch that is lost to development of some kind must be replaced before planning can be approved. It's the same for football. It's why the Meadowhead plan had a (very small) cricket ground on it although they are now looking to put that part of the development into Greenhill Park.

Seems a bit odd, choosing to watch a video of a totally silent stadium, where virtually nothing happens for hours, days and weeks on end. No entertainment, no excitement, nothing.

If I were you, I'd have watched the pitch video, instead!

The Dore site EASILY allows for the addition of a second pitch the same size as the upper pitch at Shirecliffe + a load of extra wiggle room. I've overlaid all the existing Shirecliffe infrastructure (plus the additional upper pitch) over the Dore site and there's a LOT of extra space around.

FWIW, a while ago on another thread someone mentioned Leicester's Training facilities and I did a similar thing, comparing Dore to Leicester's 'Elite Football Performance Centre' :
