After the 3rd and 4th rounds we have faced off with a largely second string side against 2 fellow championship sides (also fielding weakened XI’s ). And have been victorious both times.

To me this highlights the work done in the last few transfer windows by the staff to overhaul the squad so that there is genuine completion in each place. 18 months ago our second string side would have been destroyed by a championship reserve side imo.

However, Do we think wilder will start prioritising the cup a bit more now there is a more realistic shot at either one of the big boys or a cup run? Be interesting to see what approach we would take if we faced say Wigan for a place in the last 8.

Think our next three games are really important for us, if we can still be in with the mix or even better, I think that will decide our options.
I’d take sixth now with a fit squad but if we get clicking again no game is not winnable with the way we play.

I really fail to see why most of our fans would rather be battered by a "giant" premier league side than have a decent run. it just reinforces the idea that we're little old sheffield united who should be grateful at the opportunity to play the big boys. If anything we're bigger than half of the clubs in the Premier League (Burnley, Crystal Palace, Watford, Huddersfield, to name a few) but we still continue to think that we are that small old club wallowing in league 1 whose biggest claim to fame is that we managed to scrape a draw or win against Goliath. Every game should be an opportunity to show our worth be it against man utd or notts county. The FA cup isn't just a spare game to test out your reserve side. When we play a team like preston all the excuses come flying out, you're skint in january, other priorities in the way...where we're all of these problems when we played tottenham at the lane or took 33000 to wembley? Having the GCB outsung by the away end today was nothing short of embarrassing.

My brother's like this, wanted Man City last draw and this. Why? We got beat convincingly by Leicester (albeit an extremely weakened team, more so than in the FA Cup) but that's enough big names for me if we have a chance of a semi final.

Exactly. I pay for my season ticket to watch and support my football club. Who the fuck cares who we are playing? Of course there is probably 1 exception (the exception being the pigs) but what do people see in getting a chance to play against a foreign arsewipe who earns far too much money?

Still Rochdale, Newport Needing replays , Hull City or Coventry, to give a crack at lower league or teams we should on paper beat. But then again Arsenal, Wet Spam , Liverpool etc though that . Last 16, game at BDTBL lets go for it. Bearing in mind most of the team will be cup-tied. can or could still put a strong team out.

Wouldn't call yesterdays team second string by any means, in fact i'd say it was a surprisingly strong side.
Heneghan and Lafferty were the only players playing who haven't had much significant first team action this season, and Ched from off the bench. I'd have liked to have seen more of Thomas to be honest.

The further you go in the cup the more pressure there is to play your full team. That's great but if we get to a quarter final, JOC gets a bad injury and misses the rest of the season, people will be saying it cost us promotion. Of course we probably won't get promoted anyway but that's what people will say and follow it by 'Wilder made a big mistake there'.

Depends on the opposition but I think we’ll go for the same approach in the next round of the cup.

As it stands we have several players cup-tied but also a few like Ched, returning or the likes of Billy, lafferty, Wright or Hennighan trying to earn a start again so we also have a bit of a natural cup side.

With freeman and brooks also coming back in the near future it’s again going to be an opportunity to give some of these lads a run out.

In many ways it depends who we get. Premier league sides or Pigs we’ll play as close to the first team as we can at that time, but anyone else I think we can say that we’lol bring the fringe players back in
