GK:- Moore (1) + 1 new signing
DF:- Freeman, Basham, Wright, O’Connell, Lafferty (5) + 2 new signings
MF:- Coutts, Fleck, Duffy, Carruthers (4) + 2 new signings
ST:- Sharp, Lavary, Clarke, Hanson (4) + 1 new signing

Sold / Released:- Long, Hussey, Wilson, Scougall, Done, McNulty (6)
Possibles:- EEL, Riley, O Shea, Chapman

Basic squad of 14. Sell/Release 6 fringe players. 6 new signings = 20 man squad + loans + kids

I don't think any of us have seen enough of Wilson to say whether he should be sold/released.

I also think it would be a waste to see Long sold or released.

That seems about right in terms of the numbers. I think it's important the 1 up front is better than anything we already have and has the qualities to partner Sharp.

Up to 10 departures including loanees.

Remaining squad of between 14-17 not including youngsters.

6 to 8 new signings.

This is correct.

Don't need any new signings.
Giemallachance.
Giemallarun.
Gerralltkidsin.

with Long it tends to be a marmite taste, I don't think his future is with the blades, too many will be on his back and judge on the past, I think it is a shame but could be great back in Scotland where he had relative success, would love to see him shine with the Blades but just cant see it happening.

Brayford and Whiteman will be brought back and form part of the squad (ie not loaned out) in my opinion. I think Wright and Duffy will be moved on.

Looks as if it's going to be a very busy summer for CW to meet some of our supporters wish lists. Should be interesting one anyway.

If either of those two were to be moved on I'd be very, very annoyed. Age in Duffy's case in particular is against him but I think at the very least they'll be squad players next season with the size of the role each has played this year. If for no other reason than helping us get out of this league I'd like them to be kept on next year.

It would certainly 'test our resolve' if someone were to come in with an offer of £3 million or so...

It shouldn't test our resolve at the £3m level ....... the answer should be a straight ...... FUCK OFF !!!
The test of our resolve should come if an offer of £6m + came in .....

We will see what our "new" Board are made of in the summer ...... o_O:rolleyes:

GK's: Moore, new signing, Eastwood
RB: Freeman, new signing
CB: JOC, Wright, Basham, 2 new signings
LB: Laffterty, new signing
CM: Fleck, Coutts, Carruthers, 2 new signings
Wingers, AM: Duffy, Chapman re-loan, 2 new signings
Strikers: Sharp, Lavery, Clarke, Hanson 1/2 new signings

Sell/Release: Brayford, Wilson, Hussey, McNulty, Done, Scougall
Loan: Long, Whiteman, Brooks, Jake Wright Jnr

Understand people saying we don't know how good Wilson really is but he isn't better than the 3 infront of him, and I'm only interested in signing players equal to or better than them.
Possibly 11 new signings including squad players, it's going to be important to strengthen and have strength in depth if we are to even worry the top 10. They don't have to all be first teamers.

When the Prem teams come a calling.............

I'd be surprised if there weren't a few nibbles for the likes of Fleck, O'Connell...

Tough but correct . No room for sentiment in football . Know it sounds daft , but championship football is another ball game . Ain't got time for any learning curves from players or management .

Don't think age is the driving factor . Would be more the step up and level of consistency required . Some tough decisions for Wilder & Co , but it is a dog eat dog profession .

How long was Kieran Wallaces contract!? We still gotta shift him somewhere on loan for another year?

As long as Burton stay up I'm sure Brayford will go there on a perm - I just don't think he's a CW type player and there's also the financial aspect.

Whiteman may be an interesting one - he's obviously done brilliantly for Mansfield but it would be a big step-up to the Champ for him and he'd be unlikely to get much of a look-in so perhaps a spell at a decent L1 club may suit everyone

Unless Clarke and/or Hanson are moved on (which I'd be surprised at), I can't see CW going for another big man up front and think he'd be more included to go for a pacy, small striker instead.

.

I think JB would give us options as a right bank or as part of a back three. If CW can work his motivational magic on him I think he could be a vital squad member next season. Would CW really sell to a club in the same division ?

I thought we'd sell Long or release him to join another club, but after speaking to a mate we agreed it wouldn't really make sense, a backup keeper could be signed if we got desperate and Wilder will be happy to have George around who is a blade and a positive influence on the training ground.

Who could we replace him with though? Can't think of many players that exceed flecks ability without having an extortionate price tag. Seems pointless to me.

That has never stopped us selling our better players. Sell now and think later has been our usual transfer policy in the past, I would hope it has changed now though.

No mention of Long otherwise as expected on the listed/released list.

Maybe Long will go out on loan if we sign another keeper but he seems a bit old for that now. I wouldn't be surprised if we still end up selling him for a small fee.

Done and Wilson will be highly sought after at this level and should command a fee also. Not sure about Hussey?

I hope Ched isn't the only business we will doing with regard to strikers, desperately need some pace up there.

It will happen, offers I mean and I hope that by now the club has learnt hard lessons about who we sell to and for how much. Basically if it's another Championship club then the default position should be a firm no unless the fee really is too good to turn down. By that I mean anything significantly above their current market value, thereby ensuring that we can replace with as good or better. In the unlikely event that a low end PL team makes an offer then the fee shouldn't be an issue anyway, milk the bastards and reinvest it.

I also think it would be a waste to see Long sold or released.

Most keeper's don't reach their peak until around 25 but carry on much later than outfield players. So I agree we should hang on, he does have great potential, and a goal saved is as good as a goal scored.
