Speedo a chip of the old (Blackwell block)

Yeah no worries. In fact no one is safe. I'll catch the flying pigs, pink elephants and kiss them if we get promoted in the next 2 seasons. I'll hunt down Dunc, SV, Lenners, Matt B, Trigger, Houso, Cool Clint, Fiery and Micalijo and kiss them if Speed can turn Blackwell's talentless bunch into a slick, attacking, creative, passing, goal scoring outfit.

A handshake would be sufficient...

don't worry Dunc, there's not a chance in hell that cheap as chips mark II will get us out of this division within that time anyway. He'll need investment and I can't see McCheap dusting the cobwebbs of his wallet.

Agreed in fact i would go as far as saying we'll get relegated before promoted.

I'll be watching Speedo on Saturday to see how he hugs Grayson!!? We all know KB had a special way of hugging other managers and hawkeye Ollessendro will be watching for signs of it in cheap as chips mark II!!? ;)

You'll need a fucking HUGE telescope to see all the way to Elland Road from inside your shed.......

How did you get a pick of my shed SV??!

Another Blackwell esque performance under Speed. He set up to go there and nick a point (Blackwell style) and the team is displaying many Blackwell charachteristics (no creativity, no killer instict, poor defending). Similar to Blackwell Speed seems to have no plan B and sticks with underperfoming favourites (Monty, Evans and Cresswell)

I have to take my hat off to Speed for coming out after the match and taking the blame. I think the players are at fault, but it was nice to see him stand up and be counted. He stood up like a man, said it wasn't good enough and that he would take responsibility. This was very un Blackwell like. There's hope yet ..... although I'm more concerned about the his team playing like a KB team than him acting like KB at the moment.

Well it appears the Speed has inherited some Blackwell trqits, but not others. Hes admitted that we are playing poorly, stuck his hands up and took the blame and stated that we are showing relegation form. Blackwell would never have done this. HOWEVER, on the pitch he is an absolute carbon copy. Once agin he goes out, at home, looking to not lose the game. Just like Blackwell he realises too late and our efforts are too little to late. Geez, at least cheap as chips got results. Im not sure whether Id sooner see us pass the ball harmlesly around in our own half and lose or hoof it up to the strikers, but at least have the odd chance of scoring. Its time for cheap as chips mark II to do something to get rid of this tag.

Were you sat on the Kop today in the middle of row L? Just curious.

I've been looking for Speed to show us Blades fans that he is not a chip of the old Blackwell block, but today has me really worried. Speed continues to play 4-5-1 at home, refuses to change formation and doesn't make subs until it is too late. He takes off our best and most dangerous player and has to be bailed out by a Blackwell signing.

....bailed out by a Blackwell signing

He's only been there five bloody minutes, thats lame at best to say he was bailed out by the previous managers signings.

Stop looking olle because he is simple as that. He won't change that formation even when its not working is he blackwell in disguise? i think so. That might have been an entertaining 2nd half but it was very worrying especially with what we have coming up.

Bailed out by a Blackwell signing is one of the most ridiculous comments I have read on here. You might as well say he was bailed out by 2 Blackwell signings and a player Blackwell brought through the youth system and that Calve and De Laet were poor and De Laet gave a pen away. Speed's signings are clearly a disgrace and the 3 goals scored at home today with the 4-5-1 formation shows it doesn't give us any attacking impetus.

I accept that there are things that are clearly not right and there are concerns. The defensive lapses and poor decision making by Simmo are a weekly occurence and i don't know how he can change that. The lack of action in the loan market is a concern and I hope it doesn't become a saga of Owls Investment proportions, but let's see how he does. De Laet looks a good loan addition and we can only judge Speed by that.

We clearly have injury problems - Monty and Bartley on the bench to make up numbers and to be honest Jordan didn't look fit, but these injuries actually helped us today as I think Quinn had one of his better games in his better position inside rather than wide. I hope that Speed brings Ward in wide to replace Cressy, who has been quite average and off the pace for a few games, but that aside what can he do with the hand he has been dealt?

I haven't posted much recently, more because I hate being drawn into ridiculous arguments like the one you seem keen to be starting here and that have spread out all over the board. Damn me for succumbing here, we are clearly dealing with lost causes.

Were you at the match today? If not, I'd shut up if I were you.

Actually no, if I was you I'm sure I'd keep banging on with opinions that actually mean nothing because, having not been there, I wouldn't have a fucking clue what I was talking about.

Lucky that Speed finally decided to begrudgingly give Yeates a try. We've been crying out for some width and eventually Speed tried Yeates. Same could be said for Bogdanovic. Better late than never I guess.

Your second paragraph makes much more sense. I'll just ignore the rest of the drivel, but at least you can see that we have a lot of problems. I guess you'll be taking your ball home again after you've read this post.

Keep your shirt on Nick. Rather than getting abusive, how about providing some debate as to why Speed isn't like Blackwell. Unfortuantely I have touched a nerve and you have little to come back with and have had to resort to an agressive post that says nothing.

Happy to keep the ball in play if you wish. Funnily enough the bit you refer to as drivel was a piss take of your original post which, funnily enouh, was drivel.

I am no clapper, but you have to try to be positive and give Speed a chance and time. If you can't then enjoy your shed and the rest of us can continue supporting our football team.

I agree Boggy has been overdue a run in the team and Yeates, when he can be arsed, is a good winger, just like I am sure you can be a good supporter, when you can be arsed. The thing is Yeates to date hasn't merited a start, now he has been given one he has proved he is hungry for it. Having said that, there were still too many flat crosses which didn't beat the first man today.

I think Yeates more than earned another start, but it will be interesting to see which Yeates turns up next time. When he's playing well, he looks great. When he's not, he's a bit of a passanger. Can't doubt his flair though, and if he finds some consistency,...... well, we'll probably sell him.

We got into a huge amount of positions to cross today, which was great, but unfortunately we are crap at crossing.

You don't need to explain the nature of your posts to me.

So shreds, if I show blind faith in Speed, how long should it be for? Not being a proper fan maybe I can take some tips of you. If Speed keeps getting it wrong, how long should I wait until I criticise him? Christmas? March? League One in May? If Speed's team continues to flirt with relegation, doesn't show any signs of improvement and he doesn't bring in personnel, then how long should I wait. Personally I thought that fans reserved the right to criticise. However, there seems to be a consensus that all Blades should show blind faith at the moment.

A strange comment from Speed in his Gaffer's Notes on the O/S today:

"If I were to leave this club tomorrow I could have no complaints whatsoever about the effort and attitude of these players."

Has he been tapped up by Middlesbrough?

A little too much opium on your cornflakes today, Mr Holmes?

I never thought I'd say this, but I'd be over the moon with a solid defensive, negative, hard working, 4-5-1, nick a goal, victory like under Blackwell in 08/09. Speedo, tonight I'll forgive you for being a chip of the old numpty block if you pull it out of the bag tonight.

Another Blackwell esque performance ..... but this time with the result. I need to be careful what I wish for

More of the same on Saturday please mr Speed!!? :D

Geez. After Saturday's debacle has anyone got any objection to my claim that Speed being a chip of the old Blackwell block???

(a few things to consider when answering ......... negative tactics, no attempt to win the game, no plan B, no changes until the game was over and a throughly inept performance with little football, passing, pace, guile, quality and creativity).
