Chuck in he's injury prone and the selling club is very broke, Leicester have played a blinder.

Especially when there doesn't seem to be any competition in the market for him.
Boro hinted they might be interested in Cannon and we shit ourselves and signed him.

We have 2 of the 6 still here. You could argue Bamford is a pretty good alternative to Campbell.

The wingers we’re definitely light on, but we’ve got time to sort it out & the board / wilder know it needs to be sorted.

Onè, Donovan are decent enough back ups. Two more wingers, 1 or 2 centre backs and I think we’re in a good position

We paid £17m for McBurnie and his 13 goals helped us get promoted in 22/23.
We paid £8m for Mousset and his goals contributed to Sheffield United achieving our highest league finish in anyone's recent memory.

And then your convenient omissions:
We paid nothing for Brooks, he sold for £8m. We paid nothing for Lankshear, we'll likely have made something like £4m off him cumulatively. We paid nothing for Brooks (D). We paid nothing for Peck who'll go for £10m-15m.

Player purchases are primarily about making the team better for the now and the immediate future. For the most part, players don't sign contract extensions because their earning potential as higher than the extra we can evenly offer them.

This is the reality of football - money spent on transfers is a sunk cost we shouldn't expect to get back.

i know people have a problem with the fee. I have problem with almost every fee but me complaining that almost every footballer is now triple what their worth is going to change the market

thats why we want him. as in my opinion our defence has never been the same

How many games had Vini and Oli in front of both partnerships together? I think that would have had a big part to play, as we would have controlled games a lot more.

A players true value is what other clubs are willing to spend on them. Unfortunately blades desperately need a top end champ CB with experience and Souttar fits that perfectly, so we’re paying a premium.

Saying that…I can’t believe the fee is 10 mil, unless he’s signing a really long contract. 6-7 mil and it’s a great deal that suits everyone.

What worries me most is he’s got zero resale value. These owners are weird. Shoot from the hip in random moments and the bullet normally lands in their own foot.

This does stink of wilder pushing the ownership and convincing them that this season depends on spending large sums on Souttar. CW has got history and seems very competent at convincing thick rich people to spend large amounts of money on half decent championship players.

The reason that so many clamour for a DoF is that Wilder is just one human and can't be perfect.
Bettis , who is the most senior executive and the only UK based director is NOT a football man who can provide helpful , independent & wise counsel.
He's his old mate and a pushover on transfers.
The owners - as we know - are clueless - so there's a huge hole where there should have been a management control process over the (at least) half £billion of income since 2019.
And the result has been a very patchy recruitment pattern , both in terms of football strategy and financial loss.

Only 1 team in Championship history has conceded less than 29 in a season. United and Burnley both had top 5 points per goal scored in Championship history.

As 19/20 to 20/21 showed, relying on outlier defensive performances to repeat is a sure way to fuck up

He's a good player. United will still likely concede 40+

Some people set out to be professional moaners and that’s really what they like.

Still an excellent signing despite what some people think.

They are not convenient omissions as you allege.
I was talking about player trading in the sense of buying & selling.
What our academy produces has been very good and more than justifies its existence - I can't fault it.
But other clubs but players on their upward trajectory and sell at a profit.
We have barely ever done that , which is a shame and limits our success

I think all the teams in the Championship will be alot stronger than Mansfield who i thought were really poor.

Radio Nottingham were really pleased with how Mansfield played and felt it showed that they were ready to perform well this season.

I’m not really saying pay whatever, I’m just saying if he stays healthy it’s a decent price

Why we can’t produce a conveyor belt of young talent that we can sell on i don’t know and I agree it would be great
