Soumare, he makes me happy

He’s a young lad but has no composure on the ball or positional sense .. if we have the chance to return him in the JTW I would but from the comments on here that option isn’t there . As for Matos .. I do not know it anyway what the recruitment team saw in this kid .. can’t pass , run , no physical presence & looks like a League 1 player at his best .. n fortunately we’re gonna be stuck with him.
Need a ball winner in midfield in the JTW as cover for Reidewald ..more so if there’s a likelihood of him leaving
Wouldn't sending Soumare back in January basically be circumventing the obligation to buy in case of promotion? Can't see that being an option. But I'd like to keep him for the season anyway. I do think he has potential.

The biggest difference between him and Riederwald is decision making and speed of thought. There is probably a player in there , but he's a work in progress for sure
It's a case of whether he can ever have the decision making or speed of thought that Riedewald has, some people have the brain for it and others just don't, God knows we've had plenty of footballing dummies through the door over the years.

Bad night at the office for him but he looks a project player who needs regular game time if he's going to improve but I don't think we're the sort of charity case that can offer him that, especially as a club supposedly with ambitions for promotion and being a Premier League mainstay. We've been stung before carrying players like Coulibaly, Chucky and Jeff and others who don't look anywhere near cementing themselves a first team spot.

If we did end up getting promoted and having to take him, he'd be getting shipped off straight away.

The lad will be 23 in the new year, he's not a baby in footballing terms and if he was going to be any good, he'd have shown it before now, especially in the Portuguese league where you'd have thought he'd have had a reasonable crack by now if he had anything about him.

The Coulibaly comparison works for me. I though Soumare was dreadful last night, and has been patchy in his cameos to say the least.

There is logic in the calls to give him time, that he’s young, and that he has plenty of development potential.

But he’s a year older than Peck and Blaster. Put in that context, you wonder how much meaningful development may be left in him.

Isn't this what coaches are for. We are never going to get the finished article for the money we are prepared to pay and wages we can offer. I don't agree with the Coulibaly comparison from the simple point of view Wilder never even put him on the bench. This suggests he at least sees something or sees some potential in Soumare.

I don’t think 8 changes helps any player

Bit unfair to judge him when you put him next to a player who hasn’t played a game in 12 months

If you made one change and it was soumare he would look decent and it would be fairer to judge him

Once again the scapegoaters are out much like sydie peck was who has now suddenly become Stevie G

Plays like his brain and legs aren't part of the same body, like a 'badly handled puppet'

I wanted to see more of him earlier in the season as I thought he was one of the few who did alright at Swansea. However whenever hes had a chance hes looked lost on the pitch, like he has no idea about where he should be or what his role is. As someone said earlier hes older than both Peck and Blaster and given Matos is ours we may as well try and develop him.

Well done to him for turning in a much improved performance. I though he was very good first half, almost everything he did on the ball and defensively was good. There were situations where you wondered if he would mess up, but he didn't. Sadly the whole team didn't turn up second half and Soumare also struggled.

Maintain that there's a hell of a lot to like about him - if you could get him to be a consistent performer then I wouldn't hesitate trying to keep him beyond his loan spell. As a centre half you'd love to have him in the midfield as he's an easy option to pass into as he invariably makes the next pass look quite easy. He's one of few players that seem comfortable playing in tight defensive spaces.

Soumaré was so far behind the play last night and he's got such a S-L-O-W reaction time... it's like he was playing on a dodgy buffering livestream of the game!
What he’s got to cut out and JRS very simple to do, is to stop dribbling into troubled areas of the pitch.

He cost us a goal at Ipswich doing that and it’s a bit of a regular feature of his game. Surely this sort of thing can be coached?

In the first half he was tenacious, aggressive and pressed well up the pitch. Made a few good tackles that led directly to chances on the break and helped keep play ticking over. Should have played brooks in instead of taking it on himself.

Second half went missing before being hooked.

He took him off after 55 minutes

We won’t see him for another 6 weeks
