Soumare, he makes me happy

Very raw but he can break up play and when he gets the ball he looks to make a progressive move with it which puts him in front of others like Matos for the role.

..one thing he needs to be careful with is his style of tackling as he goes in with a sort of short studs showing stamp, which last night he did a couple of times but fortunately met the ball cleanly each time.. however one miss timed challenge like that which catches the man and it’s likely in this day and age it’s a red card if the opponent make the most of it.

Thought Djiblet looked good second half. I’m still a bit nervous about his tracking and positioning and when he gets knackered he falls off a cliff. Problem is when he gets up to speed after a full season he is someone else’s player again.

Wonder if United will look to renegotiate the potential permanent transfer of the lad to us, in January?

Atm its basically a season long loan unless something very strange happens and we somehow win a play off final. So, cant see any harm in maybe trying to look at this again in detail in January with his parent club. Chances are the lad will want to stay at SUFC and develop his game rather than going back (provided he is still getting regular games and feels included in the group) and we could maybe negotiate a smaller permanent fee for him with the proviso that a few extra million get chucked their way if we go back to the PL during the next 3 years etc. Worth looking at.

Think the fee is £10m on promotion as an obligation. We just stumped up c.£4m for Matos and we have Arblaster coming back. I’d be surprised if we spend that much (or even half) with parachute payments running out next summer.

I can say with total honesty that my SB contribution was to call him "pretty decent" in the 1st half.

By the end of the game, he was outstanding.

O'Hare was still MOTM though, by some distance.

Our worst player first half? Really? Surely it was Cannon?
He gave the ball away multiple times when not under pressure, handing Blackburn a few counter attacking opportunities.

Cannon, like Ings was anonymous. He's supposed to be a goalscorer like Sharp and Haaland, doesn't have many touches and doesn't get involved much in general play, but gets goals. Needs someone to create for him and to play himself out of this rotten form.

That Matos figure must include add-ons. Chelsea only got £1.5m up front for Gilchrist who had a much higher season last time out, as well as a better academy pedigree (Chelsea from 8-21 rather than Matos' Luton (to 12) to Norwich (12-18) to Chelsea (18-20). We've also only given Matos a 3 year contract which is at odds with a big investment in a young player - better to amortise over a longer period if there's an expected drop in revenue.

Soumaré's obligation is €8.5m on promotion (link in Portuguese), so £7m-ish.

Cannon doesn't qualify as a player.

So much of an upgrade on Peck, and I really like Sydie, maybe they can bring the best out of each other….? We must play him as first choice CM

Soumare wasnt our worst player first half. That was Cannon by a country mile. I think you will find Cannon gave the ball away for Blackburns goal

Ings needs to be played upfront

Can you please tell what goals he gets. He should get involved in general play. Every player on the pitch should get involved in general play FFS
Needs someone to create for him and to play himself out of this rotten form.

So its the midfield wingers fault they dont create for him. There is no way Cannon would have scored that 3rd goal, excellent cross from Burrows and Campbell made sure he got on the end of it . Cannon would have been stood on the penalty spot

A player can give the ball away five times and get away with, or they can give it away once and be punished. We disagree, I thought Soumare was worst first half.

I agree.

Plenty for Stoke, Preston and even Leicester given his minutes. Haaland doesn't get involved in general play, he has, by far, the least touches in Man City's team. Every pundit says the same; "you don't want him getting involved with general play, you want him in the box, on the end of things."

It's not the midfielders' fault that he hasn't played very well for us, no. It's their fault when they don't play well themselves though, yes.
