Sorry Leon but .......

Working your b*llocks off will always be 'unseen' if you don't want to see it in the first place :(

I never understood praising players for working hard, that is the absolute bare minimum for being a professional footballer.

If you can’t get yourself fit and work hard for the team for 90 minutes then maybe you need to look at a career change?

No mate. Find me a thread praising Billy. It’s ridiculous that there isn’t one. He ran his socks off yet there is a thread about a player who points and claps a lot? Watch the game back, you’ll see where I’m coming from.

I’m not saying Clarke was shite because he wasn’t but the fact he’s getting plaudits when Billy was far superior is pretty embarrassing.

Billy had his best game for ages on Saturday imho ……. if he played like that every week he'd be the first name on the team-sheet and would get 20+ goals this season …… :)

I'm not sure he can keep that up for 40 games though at his age ……. :(

We need ……. and have needed a striker with pace and a decent scoring record for a while now …….

Sorry …… but its true ;)

Leon shouldn’t need any defending, he normally runs his bollocks off and misses a few chances.

I’m pretty sure that once he gets a goal his luck will change.

I like to call games as I see them though, I thought he looked a yard off Sharps fitness today though and it showed, the amount of good crosses we put in today and Clarke was close but not close enough was there for all to see. That was the best crossing performance for years.

Agree totally regarding the crossing mate …… the crosses and corners were in a different league to last year's poor efforts

Perhaps we are practicing them in training now …..

He's over the hill. If we are relying on Leon Clarke this season we won't achieve fuck all.
If any of what you say is even remotely true, his strength of mind and character must be made of glass. Wilder should NOT be dishing out special treatment on the basis poor old Leon might throw a wobbler.

And I must correct you on last season. I was bringing it up. I’ll admit I was one of very few, but it’s there in black and white if you would care to look !

I'm not suggesting we are going places with Leon upfront, but when he's on form he does show signs of quality with his touch/lay off and finishing. Not apparent this season agreed, last season he wasn't consistent either but the guy has it in his locker but it's plain to see he's a bit fragile and low on self esteem. I think his form is dependent on his mood, not down to a sudden loss of technique. Wilder has commented about Leon's personality before, not being able to suss him out and being quite subdued. The guy lives in his head and responds to positivity, encouragement. Exactly what we need to be doing more of to get the best out of him before/if we get someone else in. I don't think Leon gets special treatment, but Wilder definitely recognizes the impact of dropping/subbing him as opposed to someone like Sharp who will bounce back with a point to prove. His patience won't last long though I'm sure, Wilder can't keep playing him in hope his form will pick up. He'll get on the scoresheet this weekend and hopefully he'll be back on track!
