So how did the protest go?

Did someone order a condescending prick?

No but ones popped in!

Condescending? I'm just asking. I honestly find it embarrasing that people want to protest the current state of affairs. There is no structured aim to all this. No one even knows what they're angry about. And look at what we have. We're so charmed it's crazy. What do you want. And why are you angry at what we have. These are reasonable questions. They are not condescending in the slighest.

I know what I'm angry about,
1. The mismanagement of the club seeing us fall from PL to 3rd tier oblivion
2. So called fans who find 1. Above acceptable, that's embarrassing
3. Keyboard 'I told you so' types who challenge fellow Blades for giving a feck!

Does anyone actually think that any protest if it had happened would have been solely based on the fact that we'd just lost a game to Port Vale.
Today's win, however unconvincing has only delayed the inevitable.
And no I won't be taking part in it when it does happen.

Well I protested today. I didn't sing GCB int first half, haha (call me Wellard). Although based on the formation, more attacking and feeling somewhat entertained I did hum it at the start of the second half.

I think this slide into mediocrity has slowly created a deep apathy amongst a lot of the fanbase. Yes we turn up, yes we want to do much better than we are, and yes we're generally pissed off with the state of the club, but it's difficult to give enough of a shit to go out and protest when we know the reality is that it would achieve nothing. I think most people are more depressed and fed up than being particularly angry about our situation.

Our Kev is holding all the cards but weirdly refuses to either play them or fold them, so we just continue to grind steadily lower. I wonder if the tuna-man has any pals?

Go on. Use your lob wedge off the tee for the front nine.

Did any of you actually go through with it? What did you do? Shoes off in the car park? Leave on 21 minutes? Shouting "BASTARDS" a few times at the director's box?

Well whatever you did, I watched the whole thing. We were better, only just, but we were better. Blades played a lot more directly and created chances. They scored with one. You'd have missed it if you were protesting. Billy Sharp bagged an absolute banging strike and we won 1-0. You'd have also missed the fine defensive display in the final 15 to keep a clean sheet when Vale were pressing for an equaliser that a few weeks ago (Swindon) we'd have conceded.

There was development. There was progress. In small ways. There's a lot of improvement to go before we're promotion material. But it was a good result. Now we're 7th, 4 points off the play-off pace. What are you lot protesting about, again?

Bit of a pathetic and patronising thread really.

It's nice that you were really happy with us somehow, against all the odds managing to be a little bit less shit than Port Vale and catapulting us to the heady heights of 7th, a mere 4 points off the power houses of League One's top 6.

Others aren't quite so happy with our position and how we've found ourselves to be in that position and are passionate enough to want to do something about that, and your first thought is to take the piss out of those people?

Increasingly our fan base is being taken over by apathy due to how we've been mismanaged so for people still to have the passion to want better things for us for me should be applauded rather than smugly derided purely because you think more people should be happy with our amazing success of beating Port Fucking Vale 1-0.

thing is he cant see how patronising hes being
amazing

so Port Vale are a bag of shit are they
in our promotion year 90 we beat them with a last minute Deane goal
how pathetic was that then
only just beating port vale tut tut

I don't think anyone is happy about the current situation we find ourselves in and mistakes have been made that have contributed towards that. I can understand fans frustrations and I went to Bury and witnessed that pitiful performance. What I can't understand though is if the fans protest is to oust the board - my question would be, then what?

I think we all realise McCabe is not going to be heavily investing himself anymore and would happily sell to the right buyer. That's the point though isn't it, I still feel he does have the clubs best interests at heart because I don't think he'd sell us down the river as some would. As I've said about 3 times on here this week, I don't see any billionaire sheikhs, russian oligarchs or thai fish owners for that matter queuing up to buy us.

We need to sit tight on the bladeacoaster and see what the summer brings.

UTB.

What the bloody hell are you blathering on about now?

Do you even know yourself?

trying to deflect your patronising rant against only beating a more shit port vale team

show some respect to other clubs
instead of pretending we are better than most just because "we are"
that doesnt wash

I have no need to deflect. I was at the game yesterday. I will assume you were not.

Port Vale WERE shit. We were less shit. I know this from attending the football match. Not from the BBC website.

Still wanting to force our manager out? Or changed your mind this week?

Sheffield is a city of 580000 residents
if 18000 turn up to watch us thats just 3 per cent of the population
if burnley get 15000 of the towns 85000 to turn up thats 17 per cent of them turn out

we really should be getting 18000 , a city of our size , even if we share it with wednesday and you halve it its only 6 per cent turn up

our attendances are commensurate with our city s size , bigger because of sheer numbers

What are you protesting against, and how will you protest it. That's one thing you've got to get sorted before anything else. Then you have to get everyone on your side. But here's the thing - They aren't! The fanbase is completely split on this. Not everyone thinks like you do. It smacks of entitlement. Are clubs around us this angry? Why are we entitled to more than we have. Answer that without the "Big Club" or "Investment" schtick. We're a League 1 club, and have been so for 5 years. We are entitled to nothing more than we have. We're not where we want to be, that's something everyone can agree on, but to protest at the situation the club in is daft.

Look at Colchester, winless since October, foot of the table. Blackpool, run by owners who openly hate the fanbase, and have financially buried the club. Their fans have reason to protest. What reason do we have to protest?

So are you satisfied with where we are as a club, and do you think this level of underachievement is acceptable and not worthy of coming under closer scrutiny?

Yet Colchester have taken points off us:-(

No, I said no one is. It's clearly not worth a protest, though. It makes us look spoiled. Like we think we're too good for this division.

I think you'll need to speak to our owners. They continuously talk about getting us to the premier league despite the fact they are unable to get us to compete in league one.

And yet you compare us to Colchester.

I didn't compare us to them, I said we weren't like them! That's my point. It could be much, much worse.

So we'll just carry on bumbling around in mid table league one for another half decade because "it could be worse"?

All I get from all this protest stuff is "That Bury result was shit." Because, let's face it, none of you would even think of anything like that if we'd have got a result in that game.
Everything would be fucking rosey in the garden if we would have beat bury

In fact we were all thinking of organising an open top bus ride and a commerative programme

Pete, it's a messageboard not real life and the clappers don't have a monopoly on mockery. If we'd lost yesterday, they'd be all over the board.

I doubt anybody's happy with where we are, people just cope with it in different ways.

Alright gents, I just read it back, and I want to apologise for the tone in the OP. As said earlier, it was condescending and patronising. So I'm sorry about that, and I'm sorry for offending any of you. We all have our opinions, and they're all valid. I was pretty pissed when I did that, not an excuse, but at least a mitigating factor. I want the best for this club like the rest of you, (sorry for sounding like McCabe) and get het up about it too. Onwards and upwards.

Wow!!!!!!!!
You'd actually do anything to belittle Uniteds fans as well as the club wouldn't you ?

How wonderful it must be to never have any dreams, hopes or ambitions

If you're going to use statistics like that well then Arsenal only getting 60,000 out of a population of 15 million is pretty shit

Don't worry, within a few days he'll be pretending not to have said it.
