Not that I want to get conspiracy nuts going but I've just been watching the game on the telly and they've been discussing the disallowed goal. Essentially they have pointed out that initial angle we all saw it at makes it look like the goal is legit but then they show another angle and it looks like JOC is actually sligtly off. I took a snap of it to give you an idea of what I'm talking about (sorry about the quality. I'm watching it through totally legitimate non Internet streaming ways...)

The one on the left shows the second the ball is getting kicked however one thing that really annoys me is that the picture on the right is clearly taken a split second after because If you look at the player closest to the camera on the right picture his foot is over the line of the 6 yard box whereas on the left he clearly is behind the line.

Now im not saying it's time to sharpen pitchforks or anything but at the very least it's pretty weird that they use the picture on the right to justify the linos decision when it's clearly taken a second after the ball is kicked.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

My only thought on that is that it's a closer call that it looked from the original angle (which isn't straight on).

Still onside I believe. The Freeman one was much worse.
Look where the defenders feet are for God sake. The 2 screens aren't even close.

Fucking robbed!!!
Bit of backhanding happenin somewhere!!

Point is. It's far too close for the lino to make a decision he was offside.

Goal should have stood.

And for the bellend Wendy fans saying it was justice because it wasn't a free kick, there's a great tweet from lino Glenn Turner. The free kick is opinion, the offside is fact.

Fair point, the second picture shows his leg and white boot offside. You can just see Jack's white boot in the first picture. Extremely marginal but not as bad a decision as first thought. Although you can't say he is offside from the first angle.

We didn't get the rub of the green but we probably didn't deserve a point.

The lino's flag seemed to go up very late, maybe it was for the player at the back stick when the ball was headed?

to be fair, O'Connell earnt that free kick. It was a free-kick because Christie was a mug and left his leg out. O'Connell just happened to run into it.

My thoughts are that you are correct. It was onside and the 2nd terrible decision by that lino

Excellent spot I was fuming then calmed down thinking he was offside even though it was a own goal .Now I'm fuming again definitely robbed today off a well deserved point.

The 2nd picture is irrelevant.

The 1st picture is the only one that counts as Duffy is in the frame and JOC is ONSIDE clearly, as you don't even need a camera inline, just put a fucking ruler on the photo between both Boro defenders - easy to see.

FFS - lino - you got it wrong and as fans all we want is for the ref to own up (for his assistant) and say " We got it wrong - we are sorry" and lets move on.

As an addendum: Duffy HAS to start on Tuesday.

Overall we probably didn't deserve a point BUT we should have had one. Not only was it onside, it was a feckin own goal anyway.

For the majority of the first half and the start of the 2nd, we looked like the new boys in the league and Boro to their credit didn't allow us to play OUR game. We did come into it though and should have had a goal. The main thing for me though is that we look ok in this league and over the season we will be hard to beat so will be very comfortable.

Look at the players in the background. Totally different bodyshapes in each image. Clear as day.

Were we called offside any other times, except Freemans n the goal?

I only remember the 2 wrong calls.

A few years ago TV pundits spent most of their time criticising decisions make by the officials - now it seems we have come full circle and they will do anything to justify them........words have clearly been had in high places #collusion

Agree, I thought it was weird how they used 2 freeze frames that were clearly OUT OF SYNC.

Having looked again, it does look like an own goal, should have stood.

There should be aTelevision Match Official, and each team should be allowed, say, two appeals per game. Lino was wrong. Generally the sky coverage was second rate.
