Is anyone else getting fed up with the commentators on Sky and BT adding to the misery of the only match day experience we can currently get? Throughout the match with us not playing well anyway, all they appear capable of is consistently trotting out a series of negative statistics to add to the gloomy experience. Fed up, I turned the sound off for the Fulham game, yet there were still at least ten captions of negative statistics flashed up on the screen during it. I have just briefly put West Brom v Brighton on and despite West Brom being ahead all I heard before turning the sound off again was how big a task they’ve got even if they win today. I expect their fans would like to enjoy the rare experience of them being in front. It’s definitely worse than having a season ticket next to a moaner. Looking forward to the cup match when I can get Radio Sheffield online.

Ive been thinking the same for that past few weeks/ months
At least when you can go to the game you go in the pub with your mates before the match acknowledge we are crap. Go to the game and get involved in that experience albeit not a great one at the moment
Leave the game disappointed go in the pub afterwards and have a moan about the game / players/ Wilder
You dont have the constant negativity being thrust at you from the commentary team for 90 mins churning out useless statistics about what a nigh on impossible task we have of staying in the PL
The one thing you do have quite often is SWFIA

Glad I cannot hear them!

At the moment we can sometimes choose whether to have fake crowd noise or not.

When things are back to normal I'd like to be able to choose the crowd noise and no commentary.

Souness committed the ultimate Blades Bingo 20/21 sin the other day when he mentioned the loss of Henderson and at that point I just gave up. No one is going to listen to the real reason why we are crap. It simply has to be that young lad from Man Utd, doesn't it?

There was once an option to turn the commentary off, almost everyone did so they removed the option. I’ve rigged up my own kop sounds and will play that tomorrow with the sound system turned off ...I’ve had a gut full of these Knuckle heads

you know what, on the Malaysian streams the pundits (not sure who but theyre english ex players) are very complimentary of us, they usually recognise the difficulties while praising us and wilder, great balance between both teams and i much prefer em, i reject the notion that its solely to do with our peformances

"Only Sheffield United have scored fewer goals"
"Only Sheffield United have lost more games"
"Only Sheffield United have won fewer games"
"Only Sheffield United have lost more points from winning positions, conceded more from corners, have a shittier midfield yada, yada, yada"

Is that the green button?:)

Bit like Carlton Blade in the shoutbox :D

It'll be worse next year, it won't just be confined to football commentary:

History Channel: "Lord Cardigan's Light Brigade had been almost entirely wiped out by the Russian infantry. Only Sheffield United were poorer at going forward in their 2020/21 season"

Discovery Channel: "Slow, flightless, clumsy and out-competed by various other species, the Dodo was extinct by the turn of the 17th century. Only Sheffield United proved to be worse at adapting to their environment in their 20/21 Premier League campaign".

BBC World Service: "Zimbabwe is once again at serious risk of hyperinflation, with a loaf of bread projected to cost around 10 billion dollars by next quarter. A price even more ridiculous than what Sheffield United paid for Rhian Brewster last season".

Is any of the uncomfortable information wrong, though? Given how e are playing, can you think of anything effective of positive to say about us?

There seems to be a lack of mature acceptance about our situation here. We are bottom of the league and have been for some time this season. That is underpinned by the facts and statements offered. It's not like they say "Sheffield United haven't won a game all season" or "Chris Wilder looks a reyt daft twat in that puffer jacket". Also, what were they saying about Norwich last season and what would they say if it were Wolves, Palace or Leeds in our position with the same stats?

We are where we are because we've played shit and lost. The commentators have got a job and that is to 'comment'.

Exactly right. Last season they constantly quoted positive stats about us. Every single game it was: “only Liverpool have conceded fewer goals than Sheffield United”, “Dean Henderson has more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper” and “Sheffield United are on the fringes of the Champions League positions”. And then trot out the heat maps to show how attacking JOC and Bash were.

As you say, the commentators can only work with the stats as they are. For balance, they do point out (ad nauseam) how many of our games have been narrow defeats and “fine margins” and point to the injury list. I’m not sure what else anyone expects them to say.

Empty stadiums and no “real” atmosphere makes muting the commentary much easier. Bang some music on, you know something uplifting like Sound of Silence, works for me.

“Hello Darkness my old friend “

Not sure who does the comm but Bein Sport is better

Try this version at full volume. It would make even Brewster score

Come on peeps, it comes with the territory. I don't let it bother me because most of it is just saying it how it is. I get more frustrated with a lack of knowledge about us, which was a lot worse last season, but then I suppose it's also natural that these commentators will know more about the teams that they've seen regularly for years and watched their development than any team that's just appeared on their radar and looks like it's off again.

Personally, I think they've been remarkably respectful given the incredible shitness of our season and our hopeless league position.
No doubt due to the goodwill we built up with our fantastic performances and the terrific atmosphere at BDTBL last season.
I'll miss the daft things next season, like the graphics on MOTD, having our crest behind the presenters on Sky, and being constantly referred to as 'Premier League Sheffield United", with all the exposure and publicity that comes with it.
Hope we can get back soon.
