If this were the pigs they'd be spinning this as great news, saying that it shows what an amazing job Meester COH is doing. The next takeover will be a big one for us. Then we're back.

I'll be surprised if they aren't saying that us being late with a payment is a sign that a billionaire is taking them over

Wow! Now it's all starting to make sense at last.

All the 80 super rich bidders abandoning their Wednesday bids because they're hearing that the Blades are coming up for sale!

We're rich!!!

utb
Why not? BDTBL is prime real estate and isn’t built on a flood plain….The club itself is also much better investment.

No but it will be considered a turning point. They are on the way up and we are on the way down.
Despite the appearance suggesting otherwise.

Maybe it means that COH are losing interest in us now that the big club are on the market, COH saw the crowds and atmosphere when we hammered them... thought to themselves "this is the Sheffield club that we should've bought. If only they'd had a cup win in the League cup in the 90's, we'd pump trillions into a proper sleeping giant like that and take them to the Champions League"

Read the thread title and thought it was a communication from the gods.

We need to select a Trump style special envoy to go on Pork Talk or send in the S2 4SU marines for a special operation.
If we send this special envoy will pork talk insist on checking his phone to read the last five years of his emails or social media posts?

I wonder if there's more to this than meets the eye.

And actually no I'm not referring to COH Sports in this instance. Well not entirely.
The actual news is that COH were late in paying Prince Abdullah but it is now settled. Which to be honest hardly seems that big of a deal. Doesn't sound like it was many months late.

There are more installments to come and Prince is "worried" about receiving those and the clubs financial future. Given the club spent a bit in the summer (Not altogether wisely). And have made some additions to the ground improvements in new screens, rail seating and a few other odd bits. This doesn't currently scream of an ownership who seem to have a cashflow problem. But then again they could just be really bad...

However the Prince quite fancied being a minority shareholder when the negotiations took place. COH sports did not want this at the time.
1 year on there could be a few scenarios at play here.

1. Prince just wants his money on time and so is publicly (speaking to the press) casting doubt on COH's financial ability to pay him and run the club. And so COH might think twice about paying late.
2. Prince is right to be worried about his money and the club. COH sports are not running us well.
3. There is a bit of a cashflow problem but maybe not quite so big as some think. And the Prince might be wanting to offer for them not to pay him the full amount back for a stake in the club again. He is sensing an opportunity.
One of thenlater paragraphs said that COH has had talks with the Prince about him buying a minority stake but that those talks have ended

Goes without saying really.

Paying late is a culture thing for american bussinesses, I worked for them for years, still do..

Same story every month..

Nothing to see here...
I've said that elsewhere. Yanks are such an arrogant breed of businessmen, they pay when want. The only nation worse than them are the Saudis. So this was never going to be smooth.

When they're doing business in England with English Football League rules and requirements it might raise some questions...
The optics aren’t too good though.

Considering they are business people they aren’t that good at the business thing and the potential reputational damage of this latest news

I guess they could be restarted?

I'm going to stick my neck out and say there isn't a big problem on the horizon.

However no promotion this season will see us cash in on a player or two and the wage bill reduced. And no firm work will start up at Whitlow until something changes such as promotion or new investor/sponsor.

Assuming no promotion. Next season expect a bit of a turnover in squad again.

We can also hope for top 6 but top 2 will likely be out of the equation. (Never know of course)
Which makes this season all the more frustrating. First champ for a while where parachute clubs aren't dominating the top few places.

Expect Southampton and Ipswich to make the playoffs though. With Ipswich still in with a chance of top 2.

The reputational issue is one which will define COH's tenure. They communicate poorly and it affects the perception we have of them.

Maybe its the way that they normally do business, but we fans like them to behave a little better when we get barely a chatgpt peep out of them each few months we develop our perceptions with little info and whilst they might just think that success is the only metric for judgement, its not. Football fans are funny buggers that like the owners to do thinks proper...

Didn’t the Prince cost us two points from late payments, and also only make it through January by hanging out with Tingo FC.

Though I’ve heard admin is the new way to Europe and endless success, so bring it on.

Or there is nothing to see as it is the way businesses are run and PA used to do exactly the same thing, but as you say has flagged it up in the hope they pay the balance on time, but I doubt they will. It will be paid just in time but will be paid

Maybe it’s me set in my ways. But it seems everywhere in life we are customers or “resource”. Football used to feel different then. Now, not so much 🤷

People have a right to an opinion. I don't believe it. Eiether wendyites are coming on here and stirring it. with their conspiracy theories.
Their Ground is a rust bucket; updating their ground will cost millions of pounds. That's before the playing side of things. I do not know what's happening with them.
To be honest, I could not care less. If the takeover is not going through because the potential buyers are pulling out. You can understand why. Not my problem as long as the Blades beat them, I am very happy.

Must have been slow news day… if this is in the Jan transfer window it doesn’t get mentioned. Basically the new story covers how a companies operate, one owes one money, they ask for it, they don’t pay it straight away, they threaten legal action, company pays. It happens every day with multiple businesses

Is there such a thing as a British, American or Saudi successful businessman these days? They appear to be beyond geographical boundaries once a certain wealth has been reached.
This is true. I know plenty of British business people who have piled into Dubai over the last few years and then started whining about how things often operate over there 😂
