I've just watched the sky footage of the Vale game and discovered that that was Morgan's first game in charge (this is said twice), we have a player called Niall Collins and that we have played 16 league games.

I appreciate that SUFC are not a priority for Sky, but three errors in one 90 second clip takes some doing. You would have thought it would be relatively simple for Sky to employ a fan at each club and pay them a nominal amount (£50?) to look at each clip and point out such errors.

But maybe they don't care.

Did Kevin Doyle not get the winner for us?

Didn't he say we'd only won 2 of our last 16 games i.e. including the end of last season?

When they were reporting about Weir being sacked they said we had only won twice all season and not won since the opening weekend. No mention of the fact it was because we won on penalties in the cup to explain the opening weekend victory in the league.

Ah but errors like this are made by all TV channels - BBC One always make me chuckle when I hear Paul Walker or some other numpty doing the goals voice over on The Football League show and naming players that don't play for the club being shown. And then the voice over describes a 6 yard box headed goal, when actually the goal was a side-foot from 12 yards.

You can only assume that the people who write the guff haven't been watching the goals whilst writing.

Then, of course, you glimpse a Sunday paper and see that the bloke who has done the write-up of our game has claimed 'x' crossed for a goal - when 'x' wasn't playing; not even on the bench.

Always amuses me!

A couple of years ago I was sitting near the press box and one of the bored visiting hacks was playing backgammon on his computer. Someone scored and he missed it. He thought he could watch a replay on the screen in front of him. However, he hadn't realised that since we were no longer in the Prem, there were no replays being shown. He then had to ask other hacks what had happened. I've no idea if they gave him the correct info or whether he made it up. One can forgive hacks for being bored, but they are being paid to report on matches. You would think they'd show a bit of professionalism.

I used to sit in the press box for away matches, although it was a blag rather than a job. I once sat next to Trevor Brooking at Highbury when he was doing 'around the grounds' reports for some radio station. I was tempted to shout 'soapy tit wank' or similar when he was on air but I didn't. However, now with the benefit of hindsight, I really wish I had.

I once knew (yes in that way) this young lady from Ballymena in Northern Ireland who worked on the local rag and was supposed to report in Ballymena United. She hated football, so never went to the matches and just lifted her match report from a reclycled version of the report on the club website.

They don't really care about anything outside the top flight. They cover just enough football league games to keep a wider audience tuned in and by sensationalising the PL as this dramatic theatre of football that all clubs must aspire to, it keeps everyone hooked. They're very clever with their coverage and marketing actually.

My favourite recent United related error was two different commentators referring to our young winger as Callum McFadzeeeen.

Come to think of it, you rarely get real match reports these days in the mainstream media – just a brief summary of the goal scorers and a quote from the two managers at the end.

Not my idea of journalism. At least we have Deadbat...

I swear all commentators have been making that error since he broke into the first team.
