Heard him this morning explaining why a football regulator would be bad for the game and why he's totally against it.

That's the same regulator the piggies are praying can save them from chansiri.

The Jordan giveth , the Jordan taketh away
.
The bloke can't accept that the governing bodies in football (mainly the FA, IMO) are steadily declining in their usefulness.

Even if an independent regulator isn't the best way to proceed, it's what is needed right now, even if it's just a small capacity.
  • Money distribution between the EPL and EFL is shocking
  • Not enough being done about failing owners, Dai Yongge (Reading), Steve Dale (Bury) etc
  • Spending and wages are out of control, with constant talk of wage caps refusing to go away
  • That super league nonsense
  • The FA Cup situation where no-one outside the PL was allowed to have their say/vote
  • Inconsistent punishments for clubs who break the rules

Good synopsis

I think he believes in better governance rather than regulation . Very different things .
I'd agree with him that the clubs don't need another set of hoops to jump through .

Spot on! Man United are bigger than Manchester City but over the last decade City have 6 PL titles to their name to United’s nil. City have been by far the better club in recent times and the fact that Man United are considered to be bigger is completely irrelevant to most fans…Wednesdayites excepted.
Was working in Sheffield a few years ago (When MUFC were winning everything) with a Man U fan and i said the piggies think they are as big as you, he said your joking right? Anyway, i said go and ask him (random piggie fan). Q: Are SWFC as big as Man U, Response: well it depends what you mean? lol It must be those 900k fans the piggies have according to old Lee Strafford.

The funny thing is that nothing is researched with him, it’s just his shoot from the hip opinion and it goes against the grain of what people who’ve researched things say.

Leeds are a big club, that’s without a doubt. Not sure they’re bigger than us and Burnley, but I’ve not looked at their revenues and reach, so they could well be.

Leeds also try to align their rivalry with Man U as Bradford and West Yorkshire rivals haven’t been in their division for long enough to be competitive for long over the last few decades. So right now, their biggest local rival is probably Burnley in terms of distance, fan catchment and current markets that they’re dipping in for players closely followed by us. Leeds play the big fish in the championship, perhaps we do too, nowadays, but Leeds, like us are probably in a group of 10-15 clubs who’ve not quite been good enough for the Premier League but often battling for the top spots of the Championship.

Leeds didn’t take advantage of the Premier League opportunity and their big backing (financial and fan wise) when they were in the Premier league for a few seasons so haven’t broken into the Forest / Villa / Brighton/ Newcastle / Spurs realms

Perception of club size would suggest that Everton are a big club, but for all their time in the Premier League they’ve also never managed to make that leap into the top 6-10 and stay there.

Big club perception means nothing. The biggest club outside the premier league has been our neighbours for eternity in the a premier league era 😂
This whole 'big club' spiel is bollox. Past history, achievements, old attendance figures mean nothing in the here and now. You don't need any of that stuff anymore. From here on being one of the 'best' clubs is all that matters. I'd rather be Bournemouth than Bolton. I'd rather be Wrexham than Cardiff. The past is well and truly gone.

I don’t think a sports channel for Guardians readers would have much of a shelf life…Do you?
Maybe Guardian readers feel like they have better things to spend their time on than listening to the likes of Simon Jordan and Adrian Durham shouting nonsense down the mic 🤷🏽‍♂️

To be fair, football weekly manages 3/4 hours a week which is more than enough.

Trouble with talk sport is there’s a lot of airtime to fill with not a great deal of content - hence why so many shows are spent baiting people who don’t understand the format yet to ring in.

Big club = Boardroom who are putting mega money in
Honours list, attendances, history, none of it means a thing.

If Elon Musk took over at Harrogate Town, built a 60,000 stadium and brought the worlds best players in they would get to the Premier League and be one of the big clubs

Possibly, but we have dearth of TalkSPORT alternatives. To be honest there’s nothing more dreary than a panel of ex footballers trotting out pearls of wisdom on Sky and TNT.
