We're promoted. Finally.

Focus must now be onto next season and how we must add to the squad in order to thrive. The squad as it is is obviously very good. But it's a very good league 1 side. The championship is a "vast chasm" in difference (apparently).

For me, Billy can't be our main man. His age is creeping up and I can't see him getting the kind of chances he gets this season). So a striker is key (get rid of Clarke and McNulty. The former could probably do a job but let's be honest, better is required).

The goalkeeper is the reason we've been here this long. George Long is a good shot stopper....(any advances...?)

The defence: Wrights record this season is incredible (his last defeat was against Wilder for Oxford v Northampton). Wright marshalls the game. Seems to control those around him and steadies the ship should it ever be rocky.

EEL won't be here so he needs replacing.

JOC - my favourite. A unit. Will only get better.

That's brief. But for me, we need 2 defenders, a midfielder in the mould of Monty (in that they break down play. Coutts and Fleck need to be able to play their game without doing that job), and 2 strikers. That's a minimum for me.

I don't see us struggling at all next season.

But what a great season it's been.

Just thought I'd put some thoughts up for next season.

G'night

You're right mate.

Hanson and Sharp aren't enough for the next level up. That doesn't mean we dump em. Not at all. But we need pace and youth up front. If we add that (we need to find the next Brian Deane) then we're on our way!

You can never have enough Goalscorers ... sniff around some of the lower leagues , and give some of the Blokes there a chance

Ricky Miller -Dover ..34 Goals in the Conference this season
Daniel Rowe - Fylde ..41 Goals in the Conference North this season , unbelievably coming up to nearly 100 in the last 3 years

A Gamble of course ., and England's 2nd Tier is a big step up .but wouldn't cost the Earth

Goal scoring midfielders too are priceless , Graham Carey at Plymouth is their top goalscorer , and seems to always be in their best 2-3 players ...looks like a decent player , I have seen Plymouth games on TV a bit over the last 2-3 years

Well...you may be right. But do you know what? I am bloody glad you aren't the Blades manager. To think we can go to the Championship and rely on some striker from non-league take us further is a gamble I would not want to take personally.

We need quality up front next season and I'm sorry pal, but that is'n't going to come from the Conference league.

Raise the bar a bit will you? Because we need to!

Oh look absolutely mate ...you'd expect to sign a few proven players for the next level too ..just saying there is always a diamond in the rough somewhere out there , another Jamie Vardy etc
I'm pretty glad that for all your sakes I'm not the Sheffield United Manager either ..reckon you're going ok with the Bloke you've got now :)

It's a tough call and a risk for any manager when making any signing.

As far as a striker is concerned we could unearth another Billy Dearden or Brian Deane from the lower leagues who doesn't look out of place even in the top flight. Or we could sign a proven goal scorer for £10million (similar to another club not a million miles away) and it not all go according to plan.

Somehow I think McNulty is in Chris Wilder's future plans.

it is my plan to support this team until they are promoted, enjoy the chase for the title, and then after the season join in with the "what we need to do in the summer", threads.

Only comment on the OP at this time is that Fleck is already doing the "Monty role" but then he gets the ball under control and passes it to a player in a red and white shirt.

As Sharp's best performances have come alongside Lavery and Done - I'd argue that if we find a CF with pace and movement there's no reason he couldn't do a bloody good job in the Championship.

Plus, I'd argue there's precious little step up in class between League One and the bottom half of the Championship. Couldn't Tufty use Sharp purely against those teams in the same way Ferguson only ever played Berbatov against lower PL teams for Manure?

Controversial in picking horses for courses, but I trust Tufty to be innovative.

Yes on the not retained list . Ffs
Since he came back, one appearance I think did fook all , and we lost to Fleetwood.
Get rid a wage thief.

Up front:

Ivano Zamarano
Faustino Asprillia

Midfield:
Roberto Baggio

Defence:
Paulo Maldini

Goalkeeper:
Tomas Ravelli

I do think we need an option of a sitting midfielder. Recently we've changed the system around and Basham is at the bottom of a 3 man midfield.

Bashams game when in midfield is running around tackling everyone in that role he isn't to his strengths.

I would like to see us go for Morsy. But I think we could do with someon a bit taller. We need to have some advantages next season and I think having more 6ft + players will help set plays both offensively and defensively.

Top players we should go all out for include.......

Sam Morsey
Ched Evans
Dan Burn......
