If we go up out of the loan players we currently have, how many do we try and sign and how many are see you laters

BBD - 6 goals for us in the Premier League, with the option to buy in place and Southampton as good as down a yes for me
Gilchrist - Showed some promise however maybe not a safe option - Return
Clarke - Depends on the £ but for me a potential - still young but could easily nail a place down
Choudhury - Depends on the £ but for a stablised Premier League club probably not
Holding - I would like to see this as a perm signing has bags of experience
Rak-Sakyi - If we can convince Palace he is shit, we might get the deal- Personally can seeing him being high £ but would like him
Souttar - To throw back in the mix - If he is fit in time for pre-season and passes a medical, would like him back.

A few ifs in there and also depends on the selling club too

BBD - definitely.
Gilchrist - definitely not.
Souttar - definitely not. The fitness / availability issues aren't new.

Jury's out on the rest.
Would need to see more from all of them.

I heard a few weeks back that Souttar had slipped and re-ruptured his Achilles needing another op

Most of the back line are loans and are hardly world beaters tbh, Choudhury hasn't convinced me yet, but early days, Rak- Sakyi might be kept at parent club, Diaz I'd sign if the price is right

All depends on how ambitious the new owners want to be, should we achieve promotion.

BBD, Clarke and Choudhury are all here due to being deemed surplus to requirements at clubs likely to be relegated. How much would they contribute to our own fight for survival at top level? That said, each of them might be worthwhile options if we stay down.

Should Holding prove his worth through the run in, he would be an obvious 'Yes', particularly as we proved record-breakingly short, defensively, last time. Palace shouldn't be too reluctant to part with him either.

In contrast, you would think Palace might be far more keen to keep Rak-Sakyi.

Gilchrist is a possibility. For me, he was learning plenty, through to Christmas, then fell foul of the injury crisis and him needing to play game in game out. His dip in form followed Souttar's injury, Souttar's presence also being a big factor in his more solid, early season performances. I'm hopeful he will come back stronger for the run in.

I can see Rak-Sakyi being available, he’s 23 in October so he’s at an age where he needs to be playing regularly and I can’t see Palace being able to offer that.

Problem is I think Palace will want silly money.

I think to be fair to the players that came in January we need to see more of them before making a decision.
Equally if we do get promoted should we be looking for better, bearing in mind a few have been deemed not good enough for the Premiership by clubs fighting relegation.

Agree. Has some excellent attacking games for us... But is he anywhere near the standard of Palace's first eleven? Not realistically. With zero malice in this comment.

I want him at a reasonable price. £10m? I doubt Palace want him, but would they try and ask for £20m? He's not showing that value.

Depends what league we’re in next season. If promoted then only one id look at is JRS and maybe BBD. If we wanna stay up then we need to look at higher quality players.

Would only be interested in making BBD a permanent addition to the squad. JRS aside (who I suspect would either cost a small fortune or Palace won’t want to sell) the rest haven’t pulled up any trees.

I’d hope that should we be promoted, that we’d be looking for better players.

You could throw this open to all players not just loans … assuming we are in the prem next season:

Cooper
Anel
Burrows
Souza
Hamer

Are the only ones IMO are near the starting 11.

O’hare is my favourite player this year but I think the step up in speed and size would be too much for him.

Achilles tear is a year to get back and usually another 6 months+ getting back to 100% due to muscle atrophy

Options to buy
BBD: would sign him regardless of whether we're in the premier league or the championship.

Choudhury: if in the championship (I'd expect Souza to leave if we are) then a definite yes, if in the premier league, it's a maybe as he'll be a decent option in the premier league but he might want minutes that we might not be able to guarantee him.

No option to buy
Harry Clarke: not for me, I think we can get better options (maybe older, more experienced players) in the summer for a better price/deal. Given January links to JJK and Dunne I would go for either/both of them over Clarke who Ipswich might be reluctant to sell if relegated.

Gilchrist: if promoted, yes as he has a lot of potential, can't imagine Chelsea letting him go for cheap though, if not promoted, it's a maybe as it might be too much for us in the championship.

Holding: a definite yes if he proves to be fit enough, regardless of the league, he's a good option at CB.

Rak-Sakyi: Palace signing Esse might have opened the door for a potential permanent transfer, and like Gilchrist he has bags of potential, not sure about the price though.

That can't have been far into his recovery given that the injury was on Boxing Day? Either way, he'll do well to get back on a football pitch in 2025 which is a real shame as he was a colossus.

None of em. Send em all back.

If we can recoup the 10 million on Cannon and get a striker in the ilk of Kane/Haaland ( I’m not hinting at world class players just their size) we have a spine of Anel Souza Hamer. Bring in a real quality defender and then wing back on right we could be set up to compete.

IF we get promoted we just need to some real quality forwards who can get the goals and a stubborn defence to stop the goals.

A fair bit of the season still to go.
Plenty of time for all the loanees to show their potential to us or any other potential employer.
When it comes to their CVs, "Words whisper, performances roar".

The reason why I got thinking on this thread was thinking about Loan to permanent players in the past, or even loan and another loan (Mcatee, Dean Henderson) are they more settled to hit the ground running as they know the ethos of the manager and club? With us having 7 loanees it is a huge section of the current Squad that we have training with us. Currently in the summer we will need to replace them plus add to the squad. I don't think we have Forest cash style money but even so we will be looking at double digit incomings if we have a chance to stay up or even have a squad. Given that the board and Wilder will only have a 6-8 weeks to sort before pre-season starts is it better to look at the ones here already 1st and start negotiations early?

It’s hard to put a true valuation on JRS because he’s so inconsistent and his casual style doesn’t help either.
At times he’s looked quite poor for us, at other times he’s close to being a game changer.

Based on what he’s producing to date he’s worth £10 million max.
But you can see the talent…..potentially he could be a £25 million player in 2 years….possibly even higher.

So I expect Palace to factor in his potential and try to push up his valuation.
I suppose United would make the basic transfer quite low ….say £13 million with £7 million worth of performance bonus additions.

Think regards which loans would you buy….a lot depends on the transfer fee and how keen the player is to be here.
You would imagine BBD would be quite cheap and he seems keen to want to join us….so signing him would represent really good value.

Can’t judge Holding yet but he’ll probably be really keen to come here and his transfer fee shouldn’t be much either.
Depends how he performs in matches and in training sessions.

Yeah it was soon after his first op I think

IF we do get promoted then I'd say,

choudhury & holding - price depending are no brainers for the bench and squad depth - would be fine for them to come in for 1 - 2 games if needed and cup games (would also provide good depth for either league)

Bbd - I would say yes as he would be a real asset if we get relegated.

JRS - again price depending if its around £10-15m then yes as we would be seeing a different attacking output from him, given premier league sides won't be doubling up on him.

Gilchrist - no for me, too small for a CB in either league and wouldn't trust him as a RB option in the Premier league.

Clarke - no as I think we can sign better and we have seriki also waiting there, as an option and competition.
