How do you know that David Green isnt the man? I asked you twice yesterday on who do you think should be our DoF and you still havent answered yet. I dont know much about Green but I am not the sort of person who likes to have opinions without getting the full facts. I would rather you to provide the evidence rather than just guessing!
I have been told in the last few days that the club is hoping that some of our players will move to a new club either permanently or on loan which will bring our wages bill down (60% of our income can be used for wages under FFP rules) but the problem is that some of our players Adkins hope to move out wont leave on less wages (like Neill Collins last year and Marcus Williams a few years ago). The departures might happen before the deadline, and if so , then Adkins will be able to bring in his targets.
It would be silly to break the rules and then face a transfer embargo this summer
We've got a self imposed transfer embargo at the minute ;-)
And the fact we have a reactionary board to the vocal minority that has lead to the short termism. Our "bouncing back" strategy, the thinking that we have to do it this year (since 2007), is what is holding us back. Currently our planning seem as short term as ever, with an ageing side, most past their peak, and an awful playing style. However, I think this is a plan B to keep the season alive, and expect radical changes in the summer.
I've also wanted a Director of Football and more football people on the board for years.

With the players who don't want to shift, my view is that if they want to sit on their contracts then don't let the train, get them in at 6am every morning for 12 hours of doing chores around the ground and tell them if they don't like it then they know where the door is
I wouldn't like to bandy names around for the this sort of role, but I would have thought that it would be ideal for someone like Neil Warnock to get involved with and set up, a few years back I said that it wouldn't be a bad idea to have someone like Graham Taylor coming in as a director of football.
Looking at other names, I don't think someone like Glenn Roeder or someone with similar standing and contacts within the game coming in to do a DoF type of role.

For someone NOT to "bandy names" about, that's NOT a bad attempt.
Who are these "someone like" characters? I'm ready to listen if you can "bandy" a name or two who are similar to Warnock/Taylor but NOT Roeder or someone with similar standing and contacts is/are?
It's there. In glorious black and white, Ariel 10pt.
That's the way to deal with contract rebels.
Dear me.
First point is that David Green had a spell as football club Chairman, and at the same time the club employed a bloke called Jon Stephenson as some sort of head scout/footballing guru, and the result was that we made no progress that season. I've met David Green and he is a decent fella, but if you want to build a football club, employing the owner of Green Piling Ltd isn't the man for it.

I'm not advocating breaching FFP, but I also know that at the minute things are as dire at the Lane as they have been for years. I'm making a suggestion that make improve stuff rather than being negative for the sake of it. He said someone like.
That's as far as I read then I thought......
But i'll add, is it now the requirement of all supporters to know who we've added to the boardroom, not just by name?
Were you aware of Jim Phipps, Prince Abdulraham Bin Abdullah and Selahattin Baki before they arrived?
I wasn't. Anyone else?
How does McCabe think? I have no idea, but I do know his name is McCabe, don't want any confusion.
So, you think appointing Bryan Robson would be a good thing? Still? Honestly?
Maybe Bryan doesn't. Maybe he prefers meeting and greeting on MUFC matchdays etc etc.
Last question... Running the show?
Do you think Sheffield United would be better run if McCabe [note spelling] and/or Prince and/or Selahattin was at their office desk at
"whatever a.m" every day?
Do you think we could be any worse.
Robson brought some good players to the club.

Maybe in theoryWe made bids to sign Dan Burn and Dean Hammond at the end of the August transfer window.
Since then we've only signed Hammond and several players have been sent out on loan and off the wage bill.
We've apparently already made bids for two unnamed players in this transfer window.
All this suggests to me that we don't or shouldn't need players to leave before Adkins can sign players.
That we won't have a problem with breaking the FFP rules even if we did.

Just remembered. We were supposed to sign Burn on loan not to buy him
Please read this before posting about FFP.

What about having a squad of 40+?There really is no reason related to FFP why United shouldn't be signing players this transfer window.
What about having a squad of 40+?
I hadn't to be honest. I just saw your comment and it caught my eye.Have you read any of the discussion above?
We had the chance to sign the players we needed with the five we've already given the manager the money for. A much smaller squad has been something I've been pining for since we got rid of Wilson and appointed Weir and Clough made everything worse with his buying sprees. It has to start somewhere. We had more players in the squad in August. We still tried to sign players at the end of August. We've made bids for players in this window.
In League One, benefactors are allowed to inject equity to increase the turnover figure that FFP is based on.
They might not want to but FFP is not preventing them from doing it.
And on sky high wages
Only United could throw money at the club for the one and only time in their history and get Bryan Robson to mastermind it. You have to wonder if some of our board members were or are Wednesday fans because the number of ridiculous decisions that we have seen over the past 7 years is quite something. All started with that Robson appointment for me
It all started with Rob Hulse and his injury for me. We really never recovered from losing his presence up top. Proof of that is the fact that with him out injured, he was still our top scorer with eight goals. We had no one else capable of taking his place and doing what he did, which shows exactly how little the club was 'Premiership Ready'. That is both Warnock's and McCabe's fault.
Sacking Warnock on our drop (or not renewing his contract) was the most ridiculous gestures I think I saw as a United fan since seling Currie to Leeds. THAT ... and the appointment of Robson and a series of duffers ... is McCabe's fault.
