Some get offended if you mention this mate, tried it.
Damn some are so sensitive it's pretty funny.Depends how you word it.
davidpinder is asking a question of "should we have tried?"
I think the phrase you used when comparing Grigg to Woolford was "underwhelming".
They're different kinds of players.
Would I have liked to sign Grigg? Yes.
Would I prefer him to Sharp? No.
Damn some are so sensitive it's pretty funny.
Didn't say a word about Sharp, all I said was that Wigan's signing compared to ours on this occasion makes ours look slightly underwhelming. That's all, if you disagree, fine but you don't need to get sensitive mate just chill and have a beer or something.
It has nothing to do with the positions they play. I'm talking about the quality of each player. Nor am I talking about Sharp. No sensitivity at all.
I think being underwhelmed that we sign a winger who occasionally plays striker as opposed to an out-and-out striker isn't really an argument. Especially when we are heavily linked with out-and-out strikers anyway.
My comparison to Sharp is meant as a - I'd rather have Sharp (proven scorer at higher level) than Grigg (dumped by Brentford as soon as they get to the higher level).
Grigg proved a quality player for both MK Dons and Walsall. His Brentford career in between was very questionable.

I was and still am comparing Woolford, our signing, and Grigg, Wigan signing.
Woolford - Involved in a championship relegation side of which he was released, slightly older and nothing too good about him from what I know, but like I say I reserve precise judgement on him for now.
Grigg - Involved in a league one promotion side, of which he was instrumental, getting 20 goals just last season, hence being somewhat proven to score in the league we are in.
If I were to compare the two right now, irrespective of any positions they play, the above reasons are why I'd be more happy with Grigg. That was/still is my point from the beginning.

I was independently comparing two players, taking nothing else into account therefore disregarding any future transfers we or Wigan do.I think it may be wise to reserve your judgement on signings until we have finished doing our transfer business Woolford may have been signed as a squad player by United. Grigg maybe Wigans first choice striker. I think we have a better player already at the club than Grigg anyway
That's your view and that's fine. My view is that Grigg would have been better based on my other post, can't be bothered to type it out again.Woolford 212 apps in the Championship.
Grigg 0 apps in the Championship.
A regular in the league above willing to drop to our level (obviously Millwall are now) is a good signing in my view.

Seen too many Seasons in League 1seen too many players have 1 good season in this league
But that's what is silly. If you are just independantly comparing two signings without taking anything else into account then you might aswell compare Woolford to Schweinsteiger.
Let's wait until we have all done all our business.
I'm comparing the two signings. I didn't intend to do anything more. I can see it's pointless at the moment but that doesn't stop me from making the comparison, does it?But that's what is silly. would point out griggs scored 5 goals in 2 previous seasons at Brentford
so averages 10 a season over past 3 years,

I'm not saying i'm not happy. I'm delighted we've signed someone.Blades don't sign player, Barnyblade not happy.
Blades sign player, Barnyblade not happy.
Blades sign another player (fill in space here)
Make your own judgement people.

It's like for example when we were in the bottom three under Weir after 10 games or something. At that moment we were miles behind the rest. There was more than enough time to see how it panned out but I guess that didn't stop you from voicing your concerns, did it?
The fact is Wigan, today, have signed a much better player than us. Simple as that, and that's how it stands CURRENTLY. If it changes as things progress then brilliant but the present is all I can base my opinion on and that opinion is that Wigan, at the moment, are streets ahead of us in every single department.
Surely we need to give Woolford a chance before we make our judgement? Grigg may end up being a poor signing for Wigan and Woolford may be a revelation for us. Just a thought.
I'm comparing each player as to how good they are/seem to be at their own positions. Until you and any others realise that you'll still be confused as to what my point is. It's not up to me to realise that so there's nothing I can do to help you see my point unfortunately.Actually in comparison Grigg is a shit signing. Adkins wanted a right sided winger/midfielder and Woolford fits the role far better, Grigg is total bobbins as a wide player, poor at crossing and could never funnel back and help the full-back.
*can you see what I've done there? Can you see why you're taking a bit of flak for comparing apples and bricks?
