OK the players are crap but he picks the team, decides the formation and tactics and is to an extent responsible for who we bring in and who goes out on loan, so he must bear at least some responsibility. This is shaping up to be worse than the Weir / Clough season when we finished 7th, Bury being the latest team of many to outplay us and turn us over.

I’m generally a supporter of retaining the manager regardless of a few bad results, as it takes more than one season to build a team. I didn’t support the sacking of Wilson or Clough. But the thing is, there’s something seriously rotten at the Lane as the performances are simply not getting any better. Surely Adkins’ influence should have been felt by now shouldn't it?

This bunch minus Murphy made the Play Offs with something to spare last season, and scored six goals in the semis. OK we lost Murphy in the summer but we also gained Sharp, as well as two more Adkins signings, Hammond and Edgar. So why are we doing worse than last season this time around?

We need a total clear-out in the summer, keeping only Long, Adams, Brayford and Sharp from the current first-teamers. It’s going to be a massive rebuilding project and on current form I’m not sure that I want Adkins to be the one who is in charge of it. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but whatever it was that worked for him at Southampton and Scunthorpe ain’t working for him at the Lane. If we miss out on the Play Offs the season will be a total failure. I'm in two minds about giving Adkins the rebuilding job.

Judging by this seasons signings of old, slow players who were on his books a few seasons ago, I really wouldn't want him on charge of creating a new XI.

Can a leopard change its spots though is the question?

Blame the owners as much as you like, but Adkins must share the blame. He isn't the only L1 manager who has to work within tight financial limits, and he has had more money to spend than most. Our crappy owners aren't unique.

Clutching at straws, Millwall losing at home means that we're still just 5 points off the play offs, not eight. Play Offs are still possible but can you see this bunch beating Wigan or Walsall? I can't.

Yes. He hasn't got the players to play the way he wants to. He needs another season and a decent backing from the Board.

I do blame the owners.

No other manager is allowed to sign one player permanently yet given the board expectation of top 2.

It's the owners fault.

Yes. We should. He's mentioned pace as a requirement in signings. The summer will of course be crucial but I think he knows what's needed.

I hav'nt seen any reason to keep Adkins on,sorry to say it but he just does'nt inspire any confidence.
Changing managers ain't good but if he walks tomorrow I might just manage a shrug of the shoulders and a little
Wave.

While signings and tactics have not been great, the players are the ones to blame for the lack of effort/ performance on the field.
I have had enough of them personally as most of them are stealing a wage.

Yes. I'd give him the summer to sort it out...but as PeteBlade states, its down to the board...if it's the youth team plus a few freebies/season long loans we/he is doomed....

Whisper it - but I think he's actually worse than clough.

And clough was utterly abysmal.

But if he goes - what then? Who can fix this club without a huge shake up at board level.

Too depressed to contemplate where we go from here.

I'd give him another two as long as certain conditions are met. He shows that he can identify and sign young, hungry players and mold them into a team capable of playing expansive, attacking football culminating in a top six position by next christmas. He should start the process of playing youngsters now.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Shit board and a very average manager. But if rumours are true and Hammond is on £10k a week then Jesus H Christ, what are they doing?

This is an extract from our Nige's favourite poem, but one familiar name springs to mind when reading:

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,

And get pats on the back as you pass,

But your final reward will be heartaches and tears

If you've cheated the guy in the glass.

His signings already don't fill you with confidence though do they? In addition to Edgar, Sharp and Hammond I forgot to mention Sammon, who's turning into this season's Higdon

Adkins tells me they made changes as game went on and showed endeavour to go and win the game #SUFC #twitterblades

Endeavour to go and win the game the muppet says. How do you do that with one man up front the man is clueless, he should assume his correct position in society as a pompous English teacher. leave football to people who have the ability to understand simple tactics and motivational skills; as unfortunately Nigel Adkins, the teams performances this season confirm that you are in the wrong job!

It's been apparent for some time now that this team is not good enough along with the manager who now seems to be not good enough yet the invisible board have not addressed the problem. What do we get? Jim Phipps talking like a condemned man when asked about bringing players in. It's obvious to every Blade alive that investment in promotion is not coming yet they will push the boat out for season ticket renewals.

They are distroying this great club from within.

The fucking guy in the glass can be released in the summer too, as far as I'm concerned.

THINK!!!!!! He'd better fucking know because we have all known for months. If all we can hope is that we THINK he knows what is needed then I may as well manage because I think we needed two centre halves. Do I get a chance in the big chair? FFS.

Adkins wanted Hammond in pre season when he'd have done a full preseason. The Edgar signing was a reactive one after the failure to get Burn. Sammon wasn't an Adkins signing. I'd question United's whole recruitment strategy all the way back to Warnock tbh.

The question should be "Should Adkins give us another season?"

I wouldn't stick around if I was him especially with this board in charge.

I honestly believe he was led to think he could signs some players in January. He probably got sold the same "game changing" investment crap that we got told.
