Fuck this bag of shit. Let’s have a thread on the long running joke on here about kidney punching and wheelchair tipping of disabled orphans.

Get yer cross built and nail yourself to it if you really believe it’s a threat towards said children.

With the notable exception of a few spotty oiks on away day concourses, nobody sings the last two lines of Shoreham boys anyway. It’s a great rousing anthem when it starts up, but ends quite abruptly with 20k+ people mumbling amongst themselves…

And those songs will express values which can make people uncomfortable - not because they are 'snowflakes' or whatever but because, for example with this song and my ex girlfriend, they have been raped in the past and the trauma of that can be stirred up when sentiments similar to their rape are expressed in the song, ie 'Shagging women = conquest' etc
No one can credibly defend the song.
What is being manifest in this thread is the fear and kickback to being told
what can and can not be sung at a football match which is traditionally a bastion of all things Bloke.
Calling people names or asking if they have been raped is in itself offensive.
Inclusion and empathy will take time to become indigenous in society and a football match is the last bastion of resistance.
society as a whole is beginning to right historical wrongs but change always occurs too fast for the older generations.

Well said 👍

I'm not on the bandwagon of changing things and largely I agree

Someone has started a thread about this specific song and whether it is offensive though, which I'm merely responding to

You've zoomed right out there and I agree with what you're saying. Very philosophical etc

Kinda seems like a philosophical shrug of the shoulders though, 'ladz will be ladz', nowt we can about it etc, which seems a bit weak to me

For me I'm not arsed if people sing it. Won't be offended etc. Just feel sorry for the women the people singing it are actually with.

Wait, you mean I wasn't meant to kidney punch disabled kids?

The shag your woman bit is definitely debatable, but I could certainly argue that the drink your beer part is just as bad. Im more of a VK kinda guy. I feel offended that beer is in the lyric but no mention of a alcopops. It’s a disgrace, Hecky out, board out! Not renewing my ST.
Sorry, no alcopops in the EPL. You can support us again when we're back in league 1 and desperate for whatever we can get.

I love “shagging women” and drinking copious amounts of beer. But singing about it in front of daughters, wives or girlfriends is maybe a tad embarrassing…Surely?
And don’t forget recovering Alcholics, “ And drink your beer” must be purgatory for them listening to that line.

I've been bringing my daughter since the 90s and now bring my Grandaughter ( until kop ticket fiasco) and to be honest Shoreham boys song is one of the least offence things we hear. Train, pub and in the ground the horrible language that is spewed out of some people's gobs is horrendous.
What makes it worse is that today's society thinks it's OK and acceptable. But we do know before we come that we will be hearing it on the train, pub and ground, unfortunately. Do we accept it, yes. Do we like it , NO!!!.
By “horrible language” do you mean swearing, incorrect grammar, a Sheffield accent, or perhaps someone is talking in Klingon?

If it’s swearing then it‘s entirely your perception that makes it “horrible”. You have every right not to like it, just as the person swearing has every right to swear. It all comes down to the context of the language used. For example I wouldn’t swear if I was being interviewed on the telly, but in the company of friends would the conversation contain swear words? Yes, it would.

Hi Stegosaurus here,

Not the worst football song in the world. The worst is "we're by far the greatest team, the world has ever seen" and it's supporters of some wank team like Swindon singing it.

Clearly not. "we're by far a mediocre team who has had a bit of success in the past but we're a bit shit now and our glory years weren't all that anyway" would be more fitting.

That applies to us as well as Swindon, actually

By us I suppose you mean the 🐖 🐷 's

What a load of bollocks that this is even being discussed. And then people wonder why there's no atmosphere at the Lane anymore. Shag birds, sup beer, sing loud and enjoy life. Don't be a sad, dull leftie, Guardian reading whimp.
Wimp.

Whatever your thoughts on the song, I'm pretty sure all of the men who sing it would run to the aid of any female they saw being sexually abused or physically assaulted.
I think this thread needs closing.

No , definitely the horrible Klingon.speaking big eared cxxts horrible fxxkers they are. As for swearing we find it a lot easier to go to another pub or move rail carriages don't like to spoil their day.

More importantly than any of this: is it maggots or magnet?

Some veggie eco warriors will now start a thread about cruelty to maggots.

A gallon of maggots implies mass murder 😂

Looks good, looks fine, Illiman is on my mind.

Sounds like a homosexual song to me and offends my heterosexual views.
