We were too slow and too static but still in total control until making a mistake and conceding. If we were mid table there would have been zero panic but the confidence is so fragile as soon as a setback occurs panic kicks in.
I said earlier in the week that Ramsdale shouldn't be dropped for the game as this would totally kill his confidence - i still stick with that although not sure it is the right thing now. Again midtable and I'm pretty sure he'd have saved it but it's now getting ridiculous. He is a young kid irrespective of how much he was bought for, as an employer the club have a duty of care now to ensure he doesn't completely fall apart and suffer any mental issues. How many of us at 22 were under such pressure and receiving so much stick? He will know how bad his performances have been.
Depending on how strong his mentality is should dictate the course to take for his best and the clubs. Personally, now, I'd take him out, get a decent goalkeeping coach and pray that Fodders or Verrips can miraculously come up with the goods.

Clown.

Brewster....if you can’t see the positives in terms of positioning, link up play, actually shooting from outside the area then there is no hope for you! He’s just trying too hard. You’re going to look a right tit when he starts banging them in.

Ramsdale....I have no defence!
Clown (reciprocal)

I would expect him to do what you have described for the price we paid against premier league teams

BUT

This was against an 11th placed league one team and still dissapoints.

look if he plays like you describe in the next couple of games I will agree with you but I very much doubt it

Wilder should have sent them out to just attack Plymouth, a chance to get some confidence with nothing to lose but they just didn’t! It was all too slow, and easy 😡 nobody from midfield attack their defenders (maybe Fleck) the rest, Lunny, Ampadu, Bash, Bogle Norwood, just took the easy option and played it back or across! Brewster was ok for 25 minutes! missed 2 or 3 good chances but then looked disillusioned and disappointed, and I don’t know what’s happening with Rammers! he had nothing to do all afternoon but what he did have to do was shake to downright shocking? and to go to the corner flag at the end and hang on to the result was embarrassing!

It just shows how we all see the game differently. I thought Fleck was ok today, pushed forward and tried to link play with Stevens. Norwood did a few 'Hollywood' balls sideways but played a good pass for the goal. However I thought he was weak defensively and physically and didnt drive forward with the ball when he had space.
No problem. Just think he's going through the motions. He pulled out of a defensive header on the edge of our area with 5 minutes to go when he thought he might get clattered and left his runner for their best chance of the first half. Stuff like that boils my piss. TBF its probably because he's been so good for us the last few seasons his form dropping off a cliff is hard to take.

The thing is, most teams put their second choice keeper in for games like this. It's fairly normal so it wouldn't be dropping him. It was a perfect opportunity. Ditto with Lowe.

And whens that going to be? Because he doesn't look like remotely scoring?

I think a lot of ramsdales supporters (including me) at the start of the season have changed opinions on him.

It's not fair to play him when his heads gone like this.
i agree with you im sorry to say ive always been a big aaron ramsdale fan after watching him quite regularly at shirecliffe but he has to be taken out of the team now for his own good really suprised chris played him today

Completely agree. Backed him a lot when he was getting his early stick but he just can't seem to save anything and looks nervous no matter who we are playing and no matter the score. I fear it's a case of he's just a big lad and good athlete with little technical ability between the sticks and no composure. Sickens me to think that of someone we paid £18m for, and worse still when I think based on what we've seen all season he's done bloody well to get so far in the game.

Can't defend Ramsdale, utter shite, no confidence, its written all over his face and body language. Can't we get this Cheltenham keeper am watching right now!

Brewster is going to bang in the Championship next season. He wasn't the right signing to keep us in the Prem though, and that's a big oversight on Wilder's part. He's bought players for next season or two seasons ahead, and completely neglected what we need right now. It's his only real failure as United manager.

Cooper in net for them looked far more confident, composed, and generally better. More agile, stronger hands. It's really worrying.

He is onl

Totally agree, Psychologically shot.....he needs some healing time away from the pressures of the first team.....If Wilder does not ease the pressure on him he may never come back!

He will score but he will miss more. The guy just hasn't got it, I was gobsmacked what we paid for him after watching his Swansea performances. its just not there.

that for the most part was comfortable made me wonder where this confidence in PL, its like was night & day. its only the 4th time this season ive seen the wilder team ive seen throughout his reign . the side with that positive 1 touch football. stretching the opposition

then until we tried to be own worse enemy again. poor from ramsdale but lundstrum giving the ball away so easily. like spurs no matter what level. you cant do that. i am confused why he hammered Henderson but hasnt said anything towards ramsdale

also nice to see norwood what he does best. as that was a brilliant through ball just got to stop him defensively. alot like paul scholes great in attack. dreadful in defence as he does more damage

Someone correct me if I'm talking bollocks but.. the £18m price tag for rammers is slightly understandable given the current trends of transfer fees being paid by teams in top divisions.

It'll be a miracle to try shift him on next season for anything over £10m.

We can all cheer up after the next round and concentrate on the League
Bristol City are our bogey side even when we're playing well, they'll beat us by at least two clear goals

Ramsdale is George Long 2.0. What a waste of all that money. It really beggars belief.

I fear this tbh

I thought he was a good signing and the constant comparisons with Henderson annoyed me. I defended him early doors and I expected him to make a few mistakes but he's currently got zero composure and looks close to tears. Long was a much better technical keeper as well, but neither can kick or command their box. And to be fair, Long wasn't anywhere near this bad every single game.

He needs to be taken out of the firing line. Problem is, Fotheringham is dreadful. Why we signed him is beyond me. Superstar shop-stopper, zero composure or ability to hold onto a ball. Hot headed as well. Verrips, for all the issues signing him, was taken out by Kean Bryan and then shelved. I'm not sure Moore is fit but he'd be a much better option.

I wouldn't get rid of him though. He just needs to sit out the rest of our relegation and come back next season.

It's understandable at the time, but a difficult pill to swallow in hindsight given we could have had a keeper as good as him or even better for significantly less. Couple mill.

Really?

1. Shot outside the box on target
2. Header narrowly wide
3. Fluffed shot from Flecks cut back
4. Shot on target from Flecks lovely cross

4 big chances all created by finding space/clever movement. We had the same debate with Didsy last season...if the chances dry up then start to worry.

Wasn't he bought for premier league opposition though I agree with you
Yer he was bought specifically for premier League football, in fact CW chased and chased Rammers, and apparently he was being chased by other clubs, that’s why the fee was so much? In fact he was also being looked at to be an England goalkeeper one day!
He got his dream move back to United and now he is suddenly under terrible pressure resulting from bad mistakes, soft goals that should have been saved plus flapping at crosses. I feel for the guy let’s hope he can turn it around?

Not sure about that, when we signed him he was a Championship player, when we signed Brewster he was also a Championship player at best.
Bournemouth, Norwich and Watford have players worth 5 x what we'd get for our best player, and they've sold their best players for huge sums

We have only one player in the entire squad that would fetch £15 million and that is Berge, and even then that'll be a £7-£8 million loss.

The rest, £7 - £8 million for Egan, a Prem club might take a punt on him as a squad player.
Assuming JOC isn't fit and nobody wants him, he'll stay for a while.
The rest, not a single Premier League club will be interested in any of them, they can move for maybe £2 - £3 million maximum to a Championship club that will pay them better wages.

Why? Thought he played well apart from his part in their goal.
Naa he was poor today, none of the running from midfield at defenders like he used to do 6 months ago! all his passes today were backward or side ways, the easy option! have a look at his stats for today and I bet they look good, 20 ten yard passes will look really good on his stats - if you are looking for a move?

Did we make 4 subs?

Have a missed somethign about the rules changing?

Ah right, so how many goals has not just today, but every game he's been involved in equated to?
