Only just got in, so CBA reading the whole thread.

That match summed up being a blade.
If you can take it, great, if you can't oh well....

Norwich - Despite being hit by the Shirecliffe sniper every 5 minutes they kept getting up and playing on. True warriors.😂😂😂😂 classic robbiez

Fleck isn't fit. Bogle, Sander, RND, Lowe, Clarke, Coulibaly, Jebbison and Stevens are out. Mcburnie is carrying a hernia problem. Osborn was gambled today as was Anel - they shouldn't be playing that much football already. We are an injury or two away from total implosion.
The last 3 in your list I didn't bother with as they are worse than the 3 that played yesterday or in Coulies case totally unkown so can't realistically be considered. That leaves the 4 I named. 4 is no more most/ any other club/s
Iliman apparently had a niggle , it's not unusual for players to play carrying a knock. Maybe you'd agree McB and Iliman shouldnt have been flogged to death at the bottom club on Wednesday and saved for this one. .

What a weird game, full of massive positives and massive negatives.

Negatives
First half, thought Fleck and McAtee were terrible, our midfield was so lightweight and almost non existent.
Also thought Osborne struggled first half
We were unlucky with their 2 goals but although we did loads of attacking 1st half we never looked like scoring.
Brewster was busy and worked hard but is constantly the nearly man, nearly made a good pass, nearly scored a goal, nearly won possession etc.
Sharp hardly touched the ball 1st half and was ineffective.

Postives
N'Diaye changed the game as sub, he went on little dribbles and the NC defenders struggled to cope with him.
Doyle gave us that extra bite and steel when he came on as sub
McBurnie was a total nuisance to the NC defence, he seems stronger and hungry.
All these 3 played really well....so could ask why weren't they starting?
Osborne played much better 2nd half, deserves praise for showing character.
The crowd got going at 2-2, great atmosphere like BL can be and their team seemed to fold.
Really pleased for our goalie, a terrible totally avoidable blunder for their 1st goal but he redeemed himself with that late penalty safe.

After such a terrible 1st half when we were joking about leaving at half time, it was that depressing.
We actually showed signs of the "real Sheffield United" 2nd half.

Disappointing result, if only McBurnie had scored that point blank header in injury time, he headed it downwards but straight at the keeper who stopped it on the line.
At least it was an entertaining game, 2nd half.

The 'start the best 11' line seemed a bit naive IMO. Obviously, without reason(s) Hecky is going to go with Illi, McB, Berge, peak JLT in the 1st 11. But there are reasons he doesn't. Berge - he's injured. JLT, he's not fully fit and maybe not in peak form, McB is literally injured but playing here and there anyway and for me, Hecky is trying to wrap Illi in cotton wool - better to lose him for 60mins out of every 270 as opposed to 6 weeks...

It's not FIFA, you don't just pick a team on stats, you have to Manage your squad.

No-one is disagreeing with this, it just doesn't add up in reality.

JLT wasn't involved as he's not fully fit and not in peak form, fine. He's been an unused sub for the last 3 games. It's hard to justify not using him at all, considering he covers two key positions, yet giving Fleck a start yesterday when he only returned to the squad 1 game ago. A fully fit Fleck is barely worth picking so a half-fit version was obviously going to turn in a poor performance.

No-one is arguing against the idea of protecting the players, but if this was the thinking why did they play 90 mins at Coventry?

I personally think Midfield is a pretty large Elephant in the room. We've papered over the cracks with Doyle and McAtee but clearly the latter is a season early and we have virtually no quality in depth. Fleck had been rushed back because we're massively thin on the ground, IMO.

Re: Coventry, fair point but it's like Dominos isn't it. At that stage we have a returning Osborn and a fully fit , seemingly indistructable RND. Now, we've got Ozzy covering RND, Fleck in to cover for Ozzy, Doyle's fitness being managed and McAtee not good enough to cover for Berge. All of which, no doubt knocks onto the choices up top - play Illi because he comes deeper and allows a bit of Midfield cover? Or go Sharp and Brewster and sacrifice midfield and hope we don't get overrun. Or mix and match and Manage the squad, the fixture, the season, the niggles etc etc etc.
