I wonder how much Robinson's needless over the top challenge that led to the 3rd goal motivated Newcastle to keep going for the jugular

It also got him booked, which is always smart in the first half

That will have influenced the decision to go to a back 4

Egan and Robinson are a horrible pair to play in a 4. Especially against someone like Newcastle. But it'll be used as resounding evidence that we must never play with a 4 under any circumstances

The biggest problem defensively is Egan. Anel needs to move central, and we need someone new at RCB

It's also a problem that Trusty clearly isn't good enough because Robinson is absolutely at his limit at this level too
I was disappointed to see Egan come straight back in, but understood it due to lack of alternatives. Next game though we've got try Trusty.

Who's going to buy Anel based on his performances so far this season. We've no chance of losing him as no one will want him. He certified won't be fulfilling his dream of playing for Man City any time soon.
Goal 1 he loses Gordon on the by-line somehow
Goal 2. He loses Burn and gets wrong side
Goal 4 Anel, Egan and Foderingham all at fault
Goal 5 shows Gordon inside and looks in total shock.
Along with the rest of our back 3, looked nervy from the kick off, and couldn’t think where to pass. None of them can jump either. Keeper stuck on his line. That’s why we concede umpteen goals from crosses.

Bog roll Saudi Prince 0 - 8 Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund. Does anymore need to be said!

Referee and VAR have been awful, but our inability to defend crosses is becoming a weekly occurrence. Wes already MOM despite possibly slightly being at fault for two goals. I'd be tempted to settle for three nil and put another destroyer in midfield.
another destroyer ?

It wasnt needless
Or over the top
And it wouldnt have made any difference

But i agree with the rest of your post

In the absence of Pompey, “my take” is yes, they were much better than us, BUT in the first 15 minutes, the referee sent a clear message to the Blades players and fans that we were not going to get anything from him. Psychologically that damaged our players, and deflated the fans. After that and doing the damage (for whatever reason!), he spent the rest of the match evening out his statistics giving us free kicks etc in non-dangerous places. After all, the stats don’t lie. He doubtless gave a similar number of decisions to both teams. But those stats don’t tell the whole story of how he deflated our players in those first 15-20 minutes.

I may be totally wrong of course but that’s “my take”. Having said that, they were of course far better than us.

There are many things wrong at the moment. For starters we don’t actually have a ‘style’ of play and haven’t since the play off semi defeat At Forest.
When Hecky took over, we played attractive attacking football, lots of early balls into the box and lots of crosses.
Last season we were able to outplay most teams in the division but only did it for at most a half, generally only about 20 mins before we tried to grind games out and relying on Ndiaye.
This season we have zero style of play. Yes we get the shit end of the stick with refereeing decisions but we really don’t help ourselves with the stupid tackles in stupid places. To cap it all off, most the players we brought in aren’t ready which is criminal and our defence is woeful.
Egan is not good enough and sadly even though I thought Anel would be a top class defender, he is actually no better than championship standard.
We are playing against seasoned premier league players with no style of play and 75% of the side which isn’t good enough.
Archer is a quality striker but he never gets a kick and I thought aside from giving a goal away, Davies looked good when he came on and McAtee was also really good first half. The rest I wouldn’t pay in washers. Gutless, headless, spineless today

Like all Eddie Howes teams their players went down quicker than a ten bob whore.

My only regret is we didn't kick them harder and more often. Would have been worth the yellows and the odd red.
these 10 bob whores ,,,,....

er ...any idea where my friends could connect up with a few of them ..

Blame, culpability, call it what you will, lies in more than one place.

The Prince - has done some credit worthy things previously, but the credit built up by that has expired. No due diligence on the shady fuckers he tried to sell the club to so far. Is that the act of someone who gives a fuck about us? Or the act of someone who is desperate to get rid.

The fish rots from the head, and this fish is starting to stink.

The management - I’m loath to jump on the Hecky out bus. But there have been times when he’s been found wanting tactically and certainly today was one of those days. Mitigated somewhat by transfer market limitations, but so are Luton, I’m fairly sure nobody is going to dick them 8-0 this season.

The main problem for me with getting rid, who comes in? What little budget there was has gone. Given that, and everything else, which manager of any repute is going to take that on? And please don’t tell me Wilder or Warnock.

The pigs will be laughing their bollocks off tonight, and frankly I don’t blame them. We have when the boots been on the other foot. Some of you might come back with “I don’t give a fuck what they think”. Well I fucking well do. Our respective struggles are representative of the absolute fucking state Sheffield football finds itself in.

Fucks sake…..

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I'm done. See you next season. Can't be arsed supporting this sinking ship shit show for the rest of the season. At least I won't have two hours of my weekends ruined.

And to any "true Blades" who want to have go at me. You're irrelevant to me. I don't care what you think of me. There's no rulebook about what is and isn't a fan other than the one in your head set up by yourself to make yourself feel important and superior.
See ya 👋

Unfortunately, get ready for a Warnock caretaker swan song.

4-4-2 style of 20 years ago.

They don’t like it up ‘em Mr Mainwaring team talks etc.

Allowing the board 32 games to sell the club and a new owner prepares themselves for the Championship. Remote chance of a miracle survival making Warnock the Messiah!

Alternatively, Allardyce!!!

In my head you went to storm out, found the door locked, then shuffled uncomfortably from side to side.

I've been saying for ages that having no competition for Egan's shirt is a bad idea

Outplayed in every department, worst I've seen in all the year from Currie onwards, players should give their match fee towards a statue in Maddy Cusack's honour
Defensive coach needs sacking and I wouldn't be surprised if Warnock came in short term to steady the ship, Hecky doesn't, like Wilder have a plan b when anything goes wrong imo

There is shit going on behind the scenes that we do not know about imo. This team showed resilience and some style v the best in EPL. Newcastle were not that good. We just gave up. Never before in Blades history has that happened. So, let's wait and see what transpires. I'm totally gutted, this is not the blades way. No matter what, you fight, you try, you do not give up. Today we did, for the first time in our history. A disgrace. EPL is a shitshow of drama prima Donna's, but we should keep our composure and fight against the adversity. We didn't, we gave up mentally, physically and emotionally. Against a team we could and should beat. This is a real turning point in our history. I do not know where we go from here. Not constantly optimistic at the moment.

I have never in 55 years seen my team simply capitulate like that - it's like they've all worked out that they're going down and they couldn't give a toss.
After the heroics at Spurs , something has happened which is more than simply losing McBurnie.
I like Hecky but if he's lost the dressing room there's only one solution.

Yesterday was a shit show. The question is, what happens now.

We have the squad we have, for the reasons we have it, which go way beyond the last transfer window. At this point in time flinging blame around for that or saying that players aren’t good enough is entirely pointless and achieves nothing. No matter what’s happened in the past this squad is what we’ve got.

And yesterday it didn’t compete. We don’t know the reasons for that, but we do know that they can compete because they have done to some degree or other in every match this season. So do we really want to be throwing the baby out with the bath water based on one, albeit horrific, performance.

We are in a dark place this morning, and what happens next depends on the response from everyone. People need to keep their heads and show some resolve. The manager, players and the fans.

We know that in the past teams have suffered similar mullerings early in the season and have turned it around. We might, or we might not. The players might not have the mental fortitude to do it, but they might. We will find out the answer pretty soon.

In the meantime cool & clear heads are needed, at least for the time being.

I think I'm still in a bit of shock this morning. I know some people are saying this is the worst they've ever seen us play, with an extraordinary scoreline, but if you've supported the Blades for any length of time we know it really wasn't. I'm pretty sure we won't be that bad again. It was one terrible game, not a whole season of being fucking dire like last time.
It was a proper shit show, but who knows, maybe a proper fucking mullering might be what we needed. Get back on that training pitch and have a look at yourselves. Think themselves lucky they haven't got to face two pig fans at work this morning...
And as for sacking Hecky, who are you going to get?

As I ruminated on yesterday whilst walking to the bus-stop, it occurred to me that the fans didn't boo the players off. The ref, yes, but not the team. This may strengthen their resolve.

Look on the bright side, folks, at least we still hold the record for being the only League team to score ten goals away from home (0-10 at Burslem Port Vale in 1892, kids); believe me, I thought 10 or 11 was looking likely with 20 minutes to go.
