Dreadful performance really. You can argue the red changed the game (first looked like a blatant yellow, you couldn't see any contact on the replay for the second and he went down like he'd been hacked) but that first half was terrible. Odd one as they get a lucky goal and we get a mad penalty. Ndiaye changed the game when he came on as he was the only player with any energy. We were the better team second half until the sending off.

I would say we were naïve tonight. We should have tried to hold the ball for a draw. Why we were trying to win at 1-1 with 10 men is beyond me.

Olsen - 4 - Dreadful for their first goal. They had an offside one before that which he managed to turn into his own net. He also pushed a Wallace shot out straight into Bennett. Awful pass straight out when we were under pressure at the end.
Stevens - 6.5 - Thought he was good tonight. Solid and was a threat going forward. But a couple of quality crosses in.
Davies - 6 - Mixed. Made a couple of good interception but looks a different player in the air. Got bullied and looked weak at times
Egan - 5 - Bit of a mare. Got away with a couple but his timing of jumping wasn't great. Not great going forward either.
Bogle - 6 - Put some good blocks in first half and looked a threat when he got forward. Not afraid to come inside either. The injury looked a bad one, sadly
Fleck - 2 - Must have given the ball away about 7 times. He was their biggest threat first half. An absolute liability. Did better second half getting forward but far too slow to offload the ball in possession.
Hourihane - 1 - Saw him once and that was being easily beaten. Absolutely and utterly anonymous both on and off the ball.
Osborn - 5 - Thought he was poor. He made the wrong decision time after time and kept losing the ball first half. Better second half but didn't have his normal energy.
Gibbs-White - 4 - First was a yellow, I could see no contact on the second. certainly nothing that looked like it would make him react like that. Was off the game first half and bits and pieces but largely ineffectual.
McGoldrick - 2 - Once again missing sitters. Shouldn't have given the keeper a chance on the one-on-one and missed from two yards. I don't think the rest of his play was very good either. Kept giving the ball away.
Sharp -3 - Not his game. Fouling constantly and against defenders who are as experienced as him. I think he'd have been off if not for the sending off/injuries.

Subs

Ndiaye - 7 - Gets mom more for changing the game than actual performance. Always looked lively even though much of it didn't work out. The one player with energy and prepared to chase around. Thought he made some poor decisions but got the rub of the green a few times. Needs to have more end project for all his liveliness.
Basham - 4 - Thought he looked poor. Slow and poor control. Obviously difficult with a man down but not secure as you'd like.
Norwood - 5 - Added more control in midfield but still giving the ball away. Poor set pieces when we needed quality

Slav - 6 - Fair play he saw we were awful and made an early substitution and it changed the flow of the game. Then again, both changes he made to the starting line-up looked poor decisions.

Ref - I think it may well be a soft red and it was definitely a penalty. Lost control at one bit and made some poor decisions (especially the shove on Ndiaye directly in front of him).

Millwall - Looked a unit but didn't really threaten for much of the game. Their keeper looks good and pulled off a couple of great saves. Wallace is also a quality player. They did a job on us first half with the press. The fair result was probably a draw but if we don't take our chances then it's our own fault.

Yes, I’m not blaming Norwood for tonight. I’m blaming Norwoods form for the past 12 months and managers still picking him! My post was about Slav. I gave CH 3/10 the worst on the pitch in my other post ‘ffs’

Who would you play instead? .... He's the only player who can drop back and get the ball from our defence... We're a worse side without him however unfashionable that opinion is

One thing I don't understand is why, when Norwood's corners CONSISTENTLY hit the first man, do we not have someone making a near post run for the flick on? If the ball always drops short to the first man, why don't we put someone there?!
I honestly can’t remember the last decent corner taker we had. Was it Roger Neilson or have I made that up?!

Temporarily I would play Fleck with the Algerian, ball winning and gets around the pitch better. We then need to strengthen this position in January, like we have for the past 12 months he’s been out of form

Olsen, Fleck, Mcgoldrick, Sharp, Hourihane shockingly awful.
Davies poor
Osborn, Basham both ineffective.
Actually thought Norwood did OK when he came on. Mgw better once Ndiaye (best player) came on.
Thought Egan, Bogle and Stevens played well, nothing spectacular but solid.
Slav, shocking selections to start.

We've not had the Algerian 12 months and Norwood played well tonight, personally I'd have signed besic as competition for that position instead

I don’t complain about the line up selected, but when the opposition see Sharp and McGoldrick, I’m sure it hardly strikes fear into the hearts of defenders, despite Sharps record. They just know if they keep us on back foot we don’t have much of an outlet. Add Fleck to midfield who looks slower in mind than in his feet the opposition just need to play at high tempo and we’re in trouble. Millwall played it perfectly tonight until Ndiaye came on. ( credit Slav for changing)
My biggest concern is if we don’t play Brewster or McBurnie at all what is our plan for them. They’re worth nothing in transfer market, based on form, at moment so in clubs interests to get them playing closer to their full potential. Do we see any signs of them playing though, I’m not sure Slav sees it as his problem, but as an employee of club I hope he and coaching staff are working hard with them. I have The awful feeling we will offload them for a relative pittance only for them to become top goal scorers elsewhere!

It’s funny we all thought that we’d walk the league forgetting the campaign we’d had the season before and how we’d been let down, it takes takes a few seasons to get rid of players from start to finish.

Who thought that? I think more people thought we'd be relegated again than walk the league.

I think Fleck has been very poor defensively this season. He was dire tonight. I'd rather play Osborn there to be honest. He's a better tackler and at least has half a chance of marking runner or getting back.

There’s so much deadwood, but it’s what we’re stuck with and what Slav agreed to take on. More games like that and we’re in a relegation fight

Is it coincidence that we concede at 90+ minutes over and over again ? Surely there's something can be done? Or not

Started the game like we were playing a friendly.

They had no business scoring that first goal and an international goalie shouldn't get caught out like that.

Referee was appalling but can't begrudge Millwall the win they wanted it more than we did.

Sick to death of seeing Stevens chin dragging on the floor. Wtf has he done to get back in?? Every pass is side ways at best. He doesn't want the ball, & smashes any chance he gets Simmonsen style over the bar. Pathetic.

Carl Asaba was absolutely raging, it's the first time I've properly watched the Blades after show and Asaba was bang on with everything.

FWIW:
Norwood was OK, people already singling him out is laughable (set pieces still awful)
Ndiaye is raw but an incredible talent, love watching him
Fleck needs to go, can't keep putting up with the odd good game amongst all the shite
Can't not love Osborn despite his limitations
Billy needs resting
Kevin Gage needs to go too. At around the 75 minute mark he commented on how he thinks we shout get Mousset on for the last 10 mins
Osborn for all his endeavour, cannot beat a player, is easily muscled off the ball, cannot cross or shoot. Please tell me exactly what - apart from effort - he gives?
Hourihan was anonymous, Fleck absolutely appalling and as much as I love Billy, he should have been replaced at half time Penalty aside - he did the square root of fuck all.

Fuck me always the same when we play Millwall, we were on the shit end of the stick this time though. One of the worst 1st half displays I have seen in a long long time. We looked better after the break but the bent ref soon put a stop to that. The only players for me that deserve a bit of credit are Bogle, Egan, Gibbs White and NDiaye. The rest for me were somewhere between utter shite and average. Got to wonder why we are paying some of the shit who can't get a game, says it all to me when Burke and Brewster can't even make the bench and MBurnie's arse is Superglued to it. We brought in 3 midfielders and only Gibbs White is any good. Not convinced with Davies either or the keeper.
Olsen Swedens #1 you having a laugh 💩 3
Davies average just 5
Stevens just about average 4
Hourihane 💩 2
Fleck (Jimmy) 💩 2
Osborn average 5
McGoldrick 💩 4
Sharp gets a point for scoring 💩 4
Norwood actually improved us 💩4
Basham average 5

This referee one of the worst I have ever seen the sending off was a joke I don't think it was a dive neither do I think it was a penalty a very slight contact for me but the ref couldn't wait to get the red card out.
Their player already on a yellow takes our player out just a free kick but for Gods sake if we stop and protest it is surely another yellow why the fuck did we take a quick free kick?
The two handed push on NDiaye nothing again that block wouldn't have been out of place on Sunday with the Miami Dolphins.

I might just take Pommpey off ignore his "My take" should be good for a laugh tonight and for sure I'd agree with every word because that was 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩 tonight.

He knew this coming in! How long do we all blame wilder for? He refuses to sub a consistently knackered Sharp. We’re defensively terrible. Players can’t stay fit. Norwood is his go to guy in all situations. It’s the same shite with a different formation

The Norwood sub tonight was the correct one. We needed to strengthen the midfield. After bringing Norwood on he then couldn’t bring Sharp off.

I honestly can’t remember the last decent corner taker we had. Was it Roger Neilson or have I made that up?!

John Gannon, corners and free kicks he was Premier League class everything else nope.

Just got back from my first match of the season and for me tonight summing it up

First Half : Awful, just awful we were not even trying we had like 2 shots on target and hardly got out of our half. Olsen should have saved their goal, Didzy should have scored, Bogle looked like a penalty wasnt given.

Second Half: Played better with Ndiaye on, didnt look like MGW fouled looked more like a penalty to us but we were in BLUT end so will watch highlights. Down to 10 men at least we had a go at them because lets face it we cant defend with 10 men a 1-1 lead. We came so close several times to getting another goal

but alas Millwall spoilt it, who were better than Stoke surprisingly.

The ref, dont get me started, we get fouled gives nothing, Egan being strangled, nothing, we put a strong tackle in, foul yellow card. He was terrible.

Did the ref spoil the game ? If we had scored another one or two in the first half we would have got a point ? Who knows but for me the awful first half cost us the game.

Deeply frustrated like all of us but those saying Olsen should have saved their first goal?

Come on, once or twice a season you see fluke goals like that, no blame attached to him for that.

it was a weird start, because all season its possession, play out from the back & then we start hoofing it like tony pulis stoke. really we didnt turn up for the 1st 20 mins. but outside of i didnt see anything different, the chances that have to go in, we are missing

also from 75mins i was hoping we could just hold on. because when you go to football for long enough. you just get the feeling, when its 1 of those bad nights, that you get 1 or 2 times a season where things just conspire against you. if it wasnt for near misses, a ludicrous red card. he gets sent off. yet for similar last week Luke shaw gives a penalty away v Hungary for a high foot & shocking officiating making it as tough as possible. then millwall top it off with 2 wonder goals

Has anyone mentioned Fleck turning his back and sliding out the way for their winner?

What is he, 8 years old? The back four have absolutely zero protection from our inept central midfielder's. Pathetic display from all 3 of them tonight.

He knocked in a shot 10 mins earlier that was going wide. Fortunately it was ruled out.

Let's all blame Norwood as usual
Absolute bollocks head and shoulders above conor Hourihane tonight, the only player we have who can drop deep and take the ball off the defence
I prefer Hourihane taking corners.

Let's appeal to make it like the NFL and bring specialist teams on for certain situations like corners 🤣

Let's all start chanting 'defence...defence..' whenever the opposition get the ball too! Not sure we have a specialist midfield team to call on though.
