Oh dear - this I’m afraid

I’ve been going through the turnstile since 27 September 1970 ,had a ST since 1975 and my 2 kids had one too until they developed an ability to make their own choices.

I have said to my group of friends who go to the match together that if utd don’t go up ,I won’t be going again . And I mean it .

I haven’t attended any of the cup games and won’t be going tomorrow because I refuse to give them any more of my money . And I can, thankfully, afford to go so I’m one of the lucky ones .

Reason?

Don’t like the football we play , which seems crazy considering the pile of crap we have turned out over the years - I find it so frustrating and beyond belief that we have been hanging on in so many games .

Joint firstly

The ownership and running of the club . How we have been allowed to enter into an embargo after being in the prem 2 years ago , and for 2 years ,is beyond me - how that impacted on us not being able to strengthen the squad to take us over the line when we had such a lead is criminal and unacceptable leadership to me . How this behaviour and mindset can be remotely justified considering the security that could be achieved through promotion is beyond belief and demonstrates a complete lack of interest and consideration for so many loyal people who’s heartbeat is following the club .

Hecky to be fair has done a good job and deserves my support which I continue to give when I go - which is to every home league game .

So

Add the above together and that’s why I for one will not go again
But both reasons will be forgotten or forgiven if we get promoted?

Reckon there's some serious mileage for an S24SU Light version where its like this one but for folk who think team selection should be like U12 level where everyone must have equal gametime, results are irrelevant (not). Be great for sensitive souls who can't tolerate or deal with brutal honesty.
Give that idea as a freebie to F and L.
Clearly not involved with U12 football !! It’s competitive!!

I think being on this forum/engaging in football supporter social media is not wise if you want to avoid the dips in the roller coaster of a season. They are dwelled upon constantly. And whilst there are positive people, there are constantly the negative types, and you can’t unread what they type.

My lad is 16 and thankfully doesn’t bother with this forum, and a couple of other adult blades I know don’t either. All are season ticketers. All are really enjoying the season. Why? They shake their heads when we get a bad result or perform poorly, then they go home and crack on with the rest of their lives, then get excited again a day or so before the next game they’re going to.

They don’t fill the between-game silence with the noise from negative cunts

Apparently 10000 tickets left for tomorrow’s game

I completely sympathise with your view.
I started at the Lane a couple of years before that wonderful 70/71 season and have been hooked ever since.
But I have rarely felt as detached as at the present.
Which is weird when you compare today's position to the heartaches of tumbling to the 4th , all the defeats in playoffs & cup semis , the bent relegations of 94 & 07 etc etc.
There is something about the ever increasing malign influence of money in the modern game , which taints one's enjoyment.
Look at the PL & how many London & southern teams predominate for a crude example of how money doesn't talk but swears - FFS Brentford riding high on City cash & algorithms.
Our recent PL experience was initially brilliant , then excruciating.
The very fact that our owner can't wait to get rid of us , despite us having a decent chance of promotion , is appalling.
And the financial predicament is now confirmed by Bettis saying that we are deliberately paying suppliers late - this is embarrassing.
To have been so profligate with our 5 years of PL money , that we are now almost broke , despite good crowds , leaves me cold.
So promotion to the PL is now not a "great adventure" but the only way to avoid oblivion.
How can you get excited about that ?
Then there's the utter waste of a 14 point gap , allowing Boro to gain the momentum & initiative over us.
Signing Archer in January , who should have come to us.
This is not bad luck.
This is sheer financial incompetence by the club.
So no wonder I am not going tomorrow, despite having been a ST holder for decades , and not having lived in Sheffield since 1976.
I am furious with the club I love.
It is a very strange feeling indeed.
If we throw away promotion this year , I will not be able to point to bad luck or fraudulent activities of other clubs (Hans Segers & Tevez) or COVID or anything but the sheer stupidity of my own club + the farcical attempts by its owner to jump ship.
Bloody hell , if the owner can't be loyal , why does he expect me , the paying supporter , to keep being a mug ?

Excellently put

You capture my attitude better than I can express it myself

not looking like good ticket sales but nowt like 10k left you only have to look on plan to see that tc sold out about 200 on john st and about 3k left on kop but still should be 25k there at least

We get the fans we deserve sometimes. No, hang on, we get the club we deserve sometimes. Is that right? Fuck. What I mean is, cheer up you miserable fuckers! Last Saturday I was at my lowest ebb for a long time after Luton, but now I'm in a reasonably optimistic mood, no thanks to S24SU's doom merchants.

Let’s put this one to bed: as of right now

Considering the Spurs attendance was very close to selling out at 28,303, let’s say for arguments sake that including segregation and all that bull, our maximum capacity is 28,500 (but I could be wrong)

- Bramall Lane end & Westfield Health corner: Sold out (Rovers bringing 5882)

- South Stand: Sold out

- Family stand: 50 left

- Family Corner: 57 left

- Kop: 900 left (very close estimate as I couldn’t be arsed to count all the seats)

That means we do 28,500-900-57-50 which is equal to 27,493

Edit: I could be miles off but still a very healthy gate in my eyes. Could even shift a few hundred pre match

Part of me understands your perspective which you have articulated well. I felt as low as I can remember in recent years after the Luton game, but the team news before the Sunderland game lifted me up again. The performance of everyone on Wednesday night even more so.

When push comes to shove this is our club through thick and thin, owners as well as managers and players are only passing through. We have no choice, we have to live with the decisions and actions of others. Sometimes we need to brush ourselves down, roll up our sleeves and redouble our efforts to support our team, let’s be honest we’re used to it, we’ve seen a lot of thin over the years. Anything else is simply giving up……and I’m not ready to give up on my club!

top 8 rows not being used but theres still at least 2k not sold on the kop

Could really have done with us getting the 4:30pm kick off today. Only been home from a 12 hour night shift for an hour and at this point it's not worth going to bed.
Tv companies want to broadcast matches with a cracking cup atmosphere for the tv audience but then schedule ours for 12.00.

Would have been very tasty with a 4.30 kick off. Shame.

If you get in the pub for 10am, a few Stella's will perk you up, see you through fine.

i dont think it sort of matters which side we put out as you look at the last round & blackburn. our weakened side was 1 of best performances of the season & then we made 8 changes put our full strength team out v blackburn were dreadful. but i think we can win this be careful on the counter attack as that was there only real danger back in march.

But if last saturday team turns up we can forget it if sunderland utd turns up, we could win this comfortably

I know, similar to spurs which is why I based it off that attendance rather than our stadium capacity
we sold loads more tickets on the kop for spurs game i doubt we have sold more than 20k for this game kick off time plus it being mothers day has definetly affected ticket sales

Could your heart take a repeat of this one?

Whenever I watch this I always think about how different penalty shoot-outs were back then. Not the penalties themselves, but the non-taking players. These days the players all stand together, linked via arms around the shoulders in unbreakable unity. But here? All over the place, including Brian Gayle standing next to his former Man City teammate Colin Hendry and even exchanging the odd word (from memory of the whole shoot-out footage).

As for Jamie Hoyland, fucking hell, I wouldn't have fancied him to take a penalty if it went to sudden death.
