If anyone was lucky enough to be sat in the G & H block to see Sharps celebration yesterday; it was pure, unfiltered emotion. Don't think I've ever enjoyed a goal celebration as much since the days of Jan-Aage.

Did anyone get a picture or video of it? It's a Pete McKee waiting to happen if so...

The club got a picture:

I watched it on iFollow and you could see that he enjoyed that one. Like you say, just emotion. Billy has had a lot of criticism over his career and he thrives on it.

What a player to have at the club, not just for his ability, but the way he handles himself and behaves. He clearly works his bollocks off and when people see that and the result of the hard work it becomes infectious.

I can't think of another player in the last 30 years who's had the effect that Billy has. To have him and Wilder at the club at the same time, its just double the dose of passion.

Just after this photo got took, when Gary Sinclair announced the goalscorer, he did a fierce "fuckingerrin" fist clench & roar into the crowd. A brief but beautiful moment.
I thought after the goal 'why didn't Gary Sinclair announce the scorer'.

I realise now that he did but the celebrations were that loud I couldn't hear the bloke.

"Won't cut it in the championship"

"Getting older, past his best"

"Need to improve on Sharp up front"

This goal, and celebration, was Billy's great big FUCK YOU ALL to the doubters and the naysayers. The lad is a goalscorer and always has been. Give him enough chances and he'll put a lot of them away.

If anybody gets chance to see it again from another angle watch Clarke do a swing with his right foot towards the Brentford fans as Billy runs off celebrating, mocking those ironic Brentford cheers got as Clarke took a swing and a miss the first time, it was brilliant.

his double fist pump (steady on) in front of Kop during the lap of honour is what stands out for me. That roar. He knows what we're about, we want to seen passion and commitment, certainly got that.

Great tweet! Can just make myself out sat behind the big screen in the Redbrik Upper.

I think that's extremely generous praise tbh. I think he's a real trier and a good finisher of chances, particularly inside the box.

But he also comes across to me as arrogant, petulant and selfish. And comments from some other players in the past have suggested the same.

I don't do "hero-worship" and "adulation" in any case, so maybe you're getting something from this that I'm not, but no, I don't think he's any super-hero, or legend, or some exception from the last 30 years. Not at all.

I think Leon Clarke might actually be my favourite player at the moment. Got a lot of stick on here when he first signed but he's playing brilliantly. Looks like he's really enjoying playing for us as well.

Surely this is a wind-up.Think you're mixing Billy up with Ronaldo.
Strikers need to be selfish and arrogant to be successful. What do you want him to do, bottle it when we get an important penalty?

And the award, for unneccessary dickhead post whilst everyone is on a high, goes to;

All I have to say is, he's a Blade through and through and living out many of our wildest dreams. Billy gives everything for the cause, and as for being selfish, regularly running football camps for young ones in his spare time and drinking with the fans 25/7 after winning promotion hardly sounds selfish. But then that's just my opinion

Beyond me why any blade would post something like this

Not sure it's possible to fault him for his contribution or behaviour in the last two years. My only criticism (and I'm casting around here), would be the odd dive, but that's churlish in this day and age.

As for the last thirty years, Sharp is no Brian Deane, but he has fired us to one promotion with an avalanche of goals. That puts him nigh on level with Agana in second place in the strike hero stakes. Pretty exceptional I'd say.
