Taxi for Billy! Shame, but the only way he can play is with the ball in front of him 6 yards out. At BDTBL you have to contribute a bit more than that.

"I didn't sign for wednesday because I don't like wednesday"

That would come back to bite him on the arse

Seth Bennett said this morning that Billy Sharp has been placed on the transfer list; when Blackwell was asked for further information all that he said was that Billy was "Still a Sheffield United player".

Right decision in my opinion and surely an indiciation that at least one new forward is close to signing.

BILLY Sharp has been made available for transfer, Sheffield United have confirmed.
The striker, a confirmed target of Doncaster Rovers, missed last night's victory at Lincoln City following talks with Kevin Blackwell.

Having seen Sharp's future dominate the build-up to his team's final warm-up fixture before next month's Championship curtain-raiser against Middlesbrough, the United manager moved to clarify the situation after watching goals from Leigh Bromby and Glen Little preserve their unbeaten record during pre-season.

"Billy's on the list," Blackwell said. "He's still a Sheffield United player, though. We'll see what happens."

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll said this week: "They circulated his name. We made an inquiry, as you do, and contacted United about length of contract, wages, whatever fee or if they might loan him out."

With a question mark hanging over Sharp's continued involvement, United will attempt to draftin another striker before August 7th's visit to the Riverside despite recently signing Manchester City's Ched Evans for £3 million.

Swindon Town, Brighton and Notts County are also known to be monitoring Sharp's situation.

A loan move is something both the player, who is understood to still be intent on fighting for his place, and United would consider only in extreme circumstances.

I think that was before he fell out with him for playing crap :D

i did too, really wanted him to show the promise he did a scunny, i just don't feel it ever happened, not with any consistency anyway, i think i was a jump up too many divisions at the time, shame cos he's a blade

I think making him available and placed on the transfer list, probably shows that either a replacement is already lined up, or there is enough within the club to cover his loss to the squad (Robertson, Foster etc.).

I do tend to agree with those who think it was maybe too big a leap in standard for young Billy. If he does go to a championship club and score goals though, it must be down to the manager (he squares it for Robbie in front of an open goal :D )!

still think its blackwells satelite football.
webber didnt do any better with it.
if he goes on to find his form with anouther club good luck to him.

Mate of mine drinks in Dronfield/Coal Aston and was talking to sharp the other night. He said he's proper fell out with Blackwell.

Sharp has said he doesn't want to leave and that he's a blade and has two years left to run on his contract. He then said it panned out like this:

KB "Leeds have come in for you, Beckford in exchange. I've accepted the bid"
BS "I'm not playing for Leeds!"

KB "Wednesday have come in for you, gonna negotiate a price."
BS "You've got no chance, I'm a blade, i'm not signing for Wednesday, i hate Wednesday!"

KB "Look Billy, you're not in my plans, i'm gonna accept bids for you when they come in."
BS "Accept what you want, i'm not leaving, i want to fight for my place."
KB "You haven't got a place, you're not in my plans"

KB "Swindon have made an approach, i want you to speak to them."
BS "No, i'm not playing for Swindon, i play for Sheff Utd."
KB "You're not going to get a game, i've told you you're not in my plans at all!"
BS "Well i've got 2 years to run on my contract, you'll probably get the sack in 6 months!"
KB "Get out, go home! Don't come back."

That is the point apparently when Sharp was sent home from training on Tuesday. Wednesday morning he is on the transfer list...

WHEN MY MATE TOLD ME THAT, BILLY WENT UP IN MY ESTIMATES! GOOD ON YER SON!!

As much as he loves the blades, i think he needs to take a long hard look at his career. If he wants to just stick it out for two years in the reserves just because he has a contract then he's a money grabbing git. If he wants to play football he should consider any offer that comes along.

I've said before, we play him all wrong. Play it to feet in and around the box and he'll snap them up! Instead we've got all these wingers that drift inside and Henderson & Sharp then end up out wide crossing the ball to each other. Get Reid & Cotterill to whip the balls in to TWO strikers not get one striker to cross to the other. Come on Blackie, its not brain surgery!

To him it is.

fuck me i think billy sharps my hero!
glad some one had the balls to tell blackwell his tactics are shit.

wish every player wanted to play for us this bad.

only reason billy dosent fit in is becouse hes not six foot two target man.

I think another reason might be that he is not that good either.

I don't believe the conversation went llike has been stated, but if it did happen then full respect to Sharp for standing his ground.

That or because as well as not being able to stay onside, or concentrate on what he's doing instead of the defender, he's also missed the few chances we've created with his favourite style of play.

Whether or not he just tries too hard because he's a blade/has the pressure on him, I don't know, but it clearly isn't working how it is.

We can praise him for "standing up to" Blackwell, but at the end of the day, he's paid to listen to him and do what he tells him to. Would anyone praise Lee Hendrie for "standing his ground"??? Or would he be the evil, jumped up little dressing room ruiner???

I had hopes he might improve this year, he's looking leaner as opposed to last pre-season when he'd bulked up. He didn't even come close to looking like having a chance, never mind scoring against Chesterfield.

the thing is striker is the most difficult position to play.

Every other position you can almost get away with coasting threw half the season as long as you put in some good games in-between.

But strikers are all about goals there were a lot of games last season when Billy was putting defences under pressure even if not scoring only to be subbed.

I admire Billy for his work rate even when chasing lost balls.

I agree he’s not been hitting the target and would really like to see him go on loan to Donny just to prove he can play at this level.

But if he feels he can win his place back and doesn’t want to give up on his life time dream of playing for Sheffield united and wont let Blackwell push him out i really respect him for that.

Obviously Sharp has put his side across to my mate and not Blackwells.

I appreciate Sharp's stance in that he only wants to play for us, and this day in age it is admirable, but if he's not gonna get games then he has to back down at some point for the sake of his career. I think with all of us being blades we want to see someone like Billy succeed.

I think a loan deal til January may be the answer for the moment

It is a difficult position to play... but when we do get a striker who bangs them in (JB) we sell them!

If we don't get promoted, looks like Billy's little outburst will be right. No Blackwell and we'll have Sharp upfront again next season!!

Alongside Evans, with O'Driscoll as manager and Henderson shipped to save the wage bill.

Oh happy days..................
