He's now scored 37 in a blades shirt. Should certainly hit 50 this season.

Extra points for the last player to do so??

Was going to say the same, has to be Deano.

It's Deano in terms of league goals.

Since 1980 King Keith, Colin Morris and Deano are the only ones with more than 50 league goals for us I think.

Since August 1993 United have usually sold anyone who scores double figures in a season as quickly as possible. Since then, we have spent 2 seasons out of 23 in the top flight. These things are connected.

We don't have to go back as far as Deano do we? Nobody else springs readily to mind.

No

All goals. League, Cups, Other (play offs etc)

Ashley Ward?

Haha...

The last player to reach 50 landed on 50 and that was his lot.

CLUE- he's not a striker

Nice rant but the following have all scored double figures since 1993. Some were released obviously, as you wouldn't expect 40 and 50 year olds to still be in the squad, but AFAIA none were sold on:

Flo
Veart
Katchuro
Taylor
Lester
Gray
Webber
Shipperley
Cresswell
Williamson
Evans
Kitson

According to the almighty Wikipedia he's on 48 league goals for us. 4 in 07/08, 4 in 08/09 20 in 15/16 and 20 this season. PeterNdlovu081

Flo never scored double figures in a season.

Veart was sold in the middle of the season after scoring double figures

Kachouro is an exception

Taylor is a rarity - he lasted slightly more than a full season after scoring double figures

Lester was got rid of during the following season

Gray was sold one game into the following season

Webber is also an exception though of course he was injured constantly over the next 3 years and thus unsellable.

Shipperley went in the following season

Cresswell is an outlier - he lasted 2 and a bit years

Williamson went in the close season

Evans was jailed

Kitson went in the close season

Deane (twice) Blake, Beattie, Adams, Blackman, Saunders, Walker, Henderson, Bent, Smith, Marcelo, Fjortoft and Brown were all sold within 12 months of scoring double figures. A few were sold in Januaryof the same season.

We do not cast striking talent aside lightly. We heave it away with great force.

10 in 93/94 but don't let the facts get in the way of your rant.

There seem to be quite a few 'exceptions', 'rarities', 'outliers' and 'released' players, none of whom were sold as per your first post.

Still, why let yer' actual facts get in the way.....

Wikipedia is wrong. Flo scored 9. There's an actual fact for you.

The majority of double figure scorers have been sold within a season. I make it 16 out of 27 (counting Deane twice). Others went to new clubs for other reasons in the same time frame.

My point - that we get rid of strikers quickly - stands IMHO. There has been precious little continuity.

Sharp is literally the only striker since Deano's first spell who has scored double figures 2 years running and will actually complete the second season. That's pathetic.

Are you saying these sales have been "good business"?
