Sharp to hit 50?

Wikipedia is wrong. Flo scored 9. There's an actual fact for you.

That's what the EPL site says too, so please accept my apologies.

The majority of double figure scorers have been sold within a season. I make it 16 out of 27 (counting Deane twice). Others went to new clubs for other reasons in the same time frame..

You are now talking about a 'majority' when previous you said 'all' which I disproved and you are yet to acknowledge.

Are you saying these sales have been "good business"?

Of course I'm not, but your first post didn't ask that question.

You went off on one about how we had sold all our double digit scorers which is blatantly untrue.

I didn't say all. I said usually. Check my post again.

If I'd said all, you'd be right. I didn't.

Looking forrad to witnessing it :)

Nice rant but the following have all scored double figures since 1993. Some were released obviously, as you wouldn't expect 40 and 50 year olds to still be in the squad, but AFAIA none were sold on:

Flo
Veart
Katchuro
Taylor
Lester
Gray
Webber
Shipperley
Cresswell
Williamson
Evans
Kitson

Gray was sold to Sunderland in our promotion season.

8 more goals and he has 200 career goals - not many strikers get to that figure.

He must be in our top 30 all time goal scorers now I would think, I'd have to check.

I make him 28th above Agana who scored 52.

  1. Harry Johnson Jr. 252
  2. Alan Woodward 193
  3. Doc Pace 175
  4. Keith Edwards 170
  5. Jimmy Dunne 167
  6. Jimmy Hagan 151
  7. Billy Gillespie 142
  8. Fred Tunstall 135
  9. Jock Dodds 130
  10. Brian Deane 119
  11. Jack Pickering 119
  12. Arthur Brown 114
  13. Alf Ringstead 109
  14. Derek Hawksworth
  15. Harold Brook 101

  28. Billy Sharp 54
If you go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sheffield_United_F.C._players#List_of_players and sort by goals that gives you the above list.

That is only player that have played more than 100 games for us. But, has any player scored 50+ in less than 10 games?

Chuffin' ell! I've been watching United since 1970 and only seen 8 of the above (Missed Mick Jones).

It does't seem like too much to ask. A decent srtiker should get about 15-20 per season so anyone here for 3 years should beat 50.

It makes you realise how many 'non-decent' strikers we have had in the last 30 years and also backs up Revolution's point, that anyone half decent hasn't lasted very long.

I'm 54 this year and it makes me wonder if I'll see anyone get near Sharp (who I hope will make 100).

I'm not sure even Messi/ronaldo/saurez/Pele/maradonna ;) could have averaged over 5 goals per game :D
